  1. >Fresh out of college with a degree in no fucking jobs, Anon put his $150K degree to use getting his CDL and finding a job as a local delivery driver for a distribution center
  2. >They handled a bunch of things, including fabric, for which their largest customer was a surprisingly high volume boutique downtown
  3. >He got to know everyone he typically delivered too pretty fast, but the owner of that clothing boutique weirded him out a little
  4. >It's not like she was a bad person, at least she didn't seem like one
  5. >She was just odd, and not in the way that monsters usually were
  6. >She stared at him constantly, oftentimes taking an uncomfortable amount of time to respond to him only to seemingly meander through sentences like she wasn't sure what she even wanted to say
  7. >It wasn't the typical lustful eyes though, she looked like she was sizing him up
  8. >The same look a guy at the bar gives another guy right before he glasses him
  9. >At the same time though, when she did get a coherent sentence out, she was very polite and amicable
  10. >Anon asked the other guys at the company about her, but they all said she was normal
  11. >Well, as normal as a Jorogumo could be, a lot of people were creeped out by the fact that they could totally conceal their monster parts and look like a normal human
  12. >She had done that the first time Anon had stopped there, though he could understand that she may have been wary about a new driver possibly being anti-monster
  13. >After that though, it was almost like she was flaunting her spider parts
  14. >Still, nice enough
  15. >Winter came quickly, and with it came coats, gloves and a nice warm hat
  16. >Company policy was that he had to present the standard uniform to customers though, so it all got tossed onto a box or something when he went in to have them sign
  17. >That Jorogumo though
  18. >She always watched him from the window while he was unloading the truck, but twice he had noticed that she was more watching where he was leaving his stuff than watching him
  19. >Then his hat went missing
  20. >Normally he didn't even think about it, he just grabbed his stuff and tossed it in the truck with him when he left
  21. >When he got to his next stop, his hat wasn't there
  22. >The last place he had it was at that Jorogumo's shop, but he didn't want to accuse without proof, he probably just dropped it
  23. >Although she hadn't been anywhere in the store when he had looked for her to sign
  24. >And she came in through the same door he did when she turned up
  25. >Still, Anon's parents taught him to never assume malice, maybe she just liked him
  26. >Little did he know just how right he was
  27.
  28. >On a particularly cold day, she asked him to stay for some hot chocolate
  29. >She was his last delivery of the day, so he figured it couldn't hurt
  30. >The hot chocolate was good, and the stay was uneventful, though he didn't see how she caressed his mug after he left
  31. >The next time he delivered to her, she was his first stop of the day, and she had a thermos of hot chocolate waiting for him
  32. >He thanked her and told her he'd wash it before bringing it back
  33. >She was oddly insistent that he needn't bother, but he washed it anyways because momma didn't raise an inconsiderate slob
  34. >All the same, she thanked him for bringing it back to her and offered to have some for him every morning if he would stop by
  35. >He was pretty positive that she was into him by now, and was pretty happy that she wasn't using the typical monster technique of smash and grab
  36. >Frankly, he was into her too
  37. >She never made a move though, and any of his attempts to take the initiative were politely deflected
  38. >It kind of got him down, but at least she was good company
  39. >Things got strange after he came down with the flu though
  40. >Two days of feeling like death and puking his guts up was capped off by the fact that his neighbor knocked on his door and handed him a big bowl of soup and a note wishing him well in almost impossibly good handwriting
  41. >His first thought was her, and that she had simply been too shy to knock on his door herself
  42. >When he got back to work and stopped at her boutique, he asked her
  43. >She denied it, and added that he had never even told her where he lived
  44. >A good point
  45.
  46. >Winter turned into spring, and the warmer temperatures meant he didn't need to stop by her shop for that thermos of hot chocolate anymore
  47. >So she started inviting him for a morning snack
  48. >Everything went the same, nice company but never anything beyond that
  49. >Things changed on the first day of summer though
  50. >It was like a switch flipped
  51. >She went from warm and friendly to curt and professional
  52. >He wasn't Anon anymore, he was Mr. Ymous
  53. >Truth be told, his feelings were a little hurt
  54. >But once again, momma didn't raise a petty man
  55.
  56. >After about a month and a half of pure professionalism, he caught her staring at him again
  57. >His happiness over the idea that she might soften up again was ruined when he got home from work that day
  58. >Someone had been in his apartment
  59. >Nothing was stolen, nothing was out of place
  60. >There was no trace of anyone coming or going, but he could just feel it
  61. >Someone had been there
  62. >Parental lessons be damned
  63. >He got in his car and headed back down to that shop and found her just closing up
  64. >He demanded to know what her deal was and asked her if she had broken into his home
  65. >If she was acting, she was damn good at it
  66. >She teared up a little and shouted at him
  67. >She was angry, furious even
  68. >How dare he accuse her of something like that, she had been here, at her store, all day
  69. >Feeling ashamed, Anon squeaked out an apology
  70. >"Whatever, just leave"
  71. >Anon stared at the ceiling all night
  72. >He swapped routes with another driver the next morning
  73. >Now he wouldn't have to see her and have it be awkward
  74. >Work went on as usual
  75. >Anon saw some new faces, it was refreshing
  76. >He still missed that Jorogumo a bit
  77.
  78. >It happened again, someone had been in his apartment
  79. >This time, while he was still home
  80. >While he was asleep
  81. >The only thing that was touched was a chair that had been brought into his bedroom
  82. >Someone had watched him sleep
  83. >Anon started to break down a bit
  84. >He called the police and filed a report, but he was doubtful anything would come of it
  85. >He also called a friend and arranged to stay with him for a few days until his landlord got new doors and windows installed
  86. >The locks he had clearly weren't cutting it
  87. >He stopped back at his place a few days later to pick up some things
  88. >There was a note on the fridge that hadn't been there when he left
  89. >"Where did you go? I miss you, come back soon."
  90. >That same impeccable handwriting from the bowl of soup
  91.
  92. >Anon became paranoid
  93. >He started taking days off of work
  94. >Whenever he'd go out, he'd constantly search for possible pursuers
  95. >He was turning into a total wreck
  96. >Thankfully, his landlord gave him a call before the week was out and let him know that everything was all set
  97. >Anon returned home ecstatic
  98. >A new door, with 3 deadbolts on it
  99. >A new sliding door to his balcony with tempered glass and multiple latches
  100. >Windows with tempered glass and multiple latches
  101. >It was just new locks in an apartment, but it felt like a fortress
  102. >Anon made sure everything was locked up tight that night before bed and went to bed feeling better than he had in months
  103. >The morning brought terror
  104. >One of his windows was open
  105. >The deadbolts on the door were all undone too
  106. >In his panic, he almost missed the note on the fridge
  107. >"Locking me in here with you, I didn't know you were so naughty. It got a little stuffy last night, I hope you don't mind that I let in some fresh air. See you again sonn, handsome."
  108. >That was it
  109. >Anon broke
  110. >He relocked everything and decided that if he never left and never slept, no one could get in again without him noticing
  111.
  112. >Just over three days
  113. >Anon lasted just over three days before finally succumbing to the sweet embrace of sleep
  114. >By the time he finally fell asleep, he was jibbering incoherently and hallucinating
  115. >At least, he thought he was hallucinating
  116. >There was no other explanation for that Jorogumo from the clothing boutique to be standing there in his apartment when he left the bathroom
  117. >She even helped him bathe and change his clothes that he'd been wearing for days
  118. >Nice silk boxers and a t-shirt
  119. >He didn't remember buying those, but he must have since they were there
  120. >Before he closed his eyes, he apologized to her for accusing her of breaking into his home
  121. >If he couldn't say it to her, he could at least say it to an imaginary her
  122.
  123. >He awoke after sleeping for almost a full day
  124. >The hallucination of that Jorogumo was still there too
  125. >Its not a hallucination
  126. >Panic soon turned into brain shattering terror when he realized that he was tied down to his bed
  127. >He tried to scream but his mouth was covered by spider webs woven together like cloth
  128. >"Shhh, shhh, it's okay, I'm here. You don't have anything to worry about, husband."
  129. >Surely he heard wrong
  130. >Husband? What the fuck was this woman talking about?
  131. >Noticing the look of confusion, she smiled
  132. >"Don't play coy, husband. You put those clothes I made for you on yourself, that means we're married."
  133. >All Anon could do was laugh through his gag while tears streamed down his face
  134. >"It's okay, I understand that you've been under a lot of stress lately, but I'll make it all better and then we can be happy."
