- ---Stranded--2---------------------------
- >She looked downwards, eyes held shut.
- >"And after all I did... you`re going to get rid of me, right?"
- >That would probably be the sensible thing to do, but there was some pesky thing keeping you from doing exactly that, called emotions.
- >The girl was stranded here with nothing.
- >And for some reason, you decided to relent.
- "If what you`re saying is true, then no. I think it will be best if you stay here."
- >She opened her eyes and looked across the room at you.
- >"Wait... you`re gonna let me stay?"
- "Well, I don`t think you`ll have much better chances anywhere else. I mean, I`m one of the more reasonable people I`ve seen, and I fucking shot you, so... yeah."
- >You thanked anything above for the fact that you lived out in the middle of Fuck-All, Nowhere, because if you`d been near people, there would have been police.
- >You saw her face go through a few expressions.
- >Confusion, relief, anger, and then she settled on worry.
- >"But... when am I gonna get home...? How... am I gonna..."
- >Right... that was an issue.
- >She looked close to tears again as she trailed off.
- >Goddamnit, you couldn`t stop yourself.
- >You sat the pistol down on the table and walked over to her.
- "We`ll find some way to get you back there."
- >Jennete looked down as her eyes began to water.
- >"W-will I...? Will I ever see my br-brother again? Oh god... he`s just a baby... and now I`m s-stuck here..."
- >Oh.
- >That... wasn`t good.
- >"My mom`s going to be worried s-sick... why did Loka have to go and d-do this?"
- >She curled back up.
- >You had no idea what to do at this point.
- >She would probably end up sleeping here though, so you got up to go get her a blanket.
- >She reached out and grabbed your wrist before you could walk off.
- >"W-where are you g-going...?"
- >You looked back at her.
- >She had a pleading look in her eyes.
- >Her hands were... wet for some reason.
- >You pulled your arm away and discovered the reason why they were soaked.
- >Her hands had... eyes on the palms, which were also crying.
- "Jennette..? Your hands. Why... why are there eyes... on your hands?"
- >She lifted her hands up and pointed them at you.
- >The eyes looked at you.
- >"Well, m-monsters are all pretty different. There are wilder traits th-that I`ve seen."
- >She gave you a weak smile.
- "Huh... Anything else I should know about?"
- >She seemed to think about this for a moment.
- >She`d stopped crying at this point, and you were glad you managed to get her mind off of the painful topic.
- >She snapped her fingers.
- >"There`s one other thing I can do, but it`s a bit... dangerous."
- >Well, she nearly clawed your face off, so how much worse could it be?
- "Well, what is it?"
- >She looked up at the ceiling.
- >"I can`t get up to show you."
- >She shook her injured leg, then you could immediately see the regret on her face.
- >"Hmm... maybe that thing, maybe I can," she mumbled to herself.
- >You traced her gaze to an old wooden sudoku set sitting on the coffee table.
- "What do you want with that?"
- >"Do you ever use that thing?"
- >She pointed an open palm at the game.
- "No, actually."
- >You could see her excitement.
- >"Watch this!"
- >The eye on her hand stared at the set.
- >Its sclera gradually became a light green color and the pupil shrunk.
- >Her arm flexed.
- >A pulse of some sort of green energy was emitted from the eye on her palm.
- >It moved like a fluid flowing through the air, until it struck the sudoku box.
- >The first thing you noticed was a slight sizzling sound, then an odd smell.
- >It had a slightly smoking hole eaten through it by the energy, which you believed to be some kind of acidic burst.
- >That didn`t fit into any science you knew though, but neither did Jennette.
- >You`re suddenly glad she didn`t use that on you during the brief confrontation.
- >"Wasn`t that cool?"
- >She sounded a bit let down by your lackluster reaction.
- "It was, but compared to everything that`s happened tonight, it isn`t that big of a deal."
- >It was intriguing though, and could probably be useful in your occupation.
- >Speaking of said occupation, you should probably head back to bed.
- >"I guess so," she said, sounding slightly dissapointed.
- "So, Jennette, I should to go to bed. I have to work tomorrow."
- >"Where am I gonna sleep?"
- >She looked around, hoping for a good answer.
- "Well, you`ve got the couch you`re on, the other bedroom, the recliner here, and the entire floor. I should grab a blanket for you though."
- >Hopefully she wouldn`t ask to sleep with you.
- >She was as tall as a child, like four and a half feet at most.
- >That would make things a bit... uncomfortable.
- >"I think this couch is comfy enough. I`ll sleep here."
- >She moved the pillows around as she got into a more comfortable position.
- >You walked to the closet and pulled out a quilt.
- >An old patchwork thing, actually handmade by your great-grandma.
- >Jennette was looking at the blanket with a sense of wonder.
- >"That thing`s really nice. You`re... letting me use it?"
- "Yeah, yeah, just don`t tear it up. It should keep you warm enough."
- >You handed it to her.
- >She fumbled around with it for a moment, then got it over herself.
- >Oh... she was all bundled up in the blankets, only her head poking out.
- >No, you will not say it... okay fine, it was really fucking cute.
- >She reached up and took her glasses off.
- >"Hey, can you put these on that table?"
- "Sure."
- >As you put them on the table, you inspected them.
- >The lenses were pretty thick, and the frames were a shade of periwinkle.
- >You set them down and looked back at Jennette.
- >She had curled up inside of the blanket now.
- >She lifted her head out of the blankets.
- >"Goodnight..."
- "Goodnight Jennette."
- >She was out pretty quickly, her quick breathing replaced by a steady and gentle snoring.
- >Well, that`s that.
- >You smiled.
- >This was actually an interesting moment in your life.
- >Though you already had a relatively eventful life, though not in a good way.
- >You headed upstairs and laid back down.
- >What time was it now?
- [| 2:39 |]
- >Well, shit.
- >You`d still get enough sleep though.
- >You zoned out while mulling over tonight`s events.
- >And you were asleep.
- >Ding, ding, ding, ding.
- >You slapped the alarm clock.
- >It shut off.
- >It`s seven `o clock.
- >Why were you getting up this- right, morning shift.
- >You were a bit tired, but you`d be okay.
- >You looked out the window, gazing out to the sun slowly rising above the trees in the distance.
- >The weather was clear today, blue and not a cloud in the sky.
- >Perfect.
- >You got dressed up for your shift.
- >Clean, dressed, equipped.
- >You headed downstairs.
- >Right, you left your pistol in the living room.
- >You`d need that.
- >Walking into the room, you stopped when you noticed the bundled up blanket on the couch.
- >You recalled the events of last night.
- >A smile came across your face.
- "Hey Jennette."
- >She awoke with a snort and a yell.
- >"Holy fu- oh... Good morning."
- >She yawned, then curled back up.
- >"You`re going to work, right?"
- "Yeah. I`ll be back later."
- >She turned back around to look at you.
- >"Can I get a specific time? I want to know in case... something happens."
- >She said the last bit quietly.
- >Like she was afraid if it would reach that point.
- "There isn`t really an exact time I`ll be back. You know how to work a phone, right?"
- >"Of course."
- "I`ll keep you updated with the home phone. Just stay here. And there`s food in the fridge."
- >She looked at the phone, then towards the kitchen, then back at you.
- >"O-okay. I got it."
- >She sat up into a crosslegged position with her tail curled around her.
- "I sure hope so. See you later."
- >She smiled at you and gave you a wave.
- >"Bye."
- >She was nice enough, though she would probably scare the shit out of regular people.
- >She is a monster, by denotation.
- >You... are not a regular person though.
- >You looked down at the pistol in your hand.
- >You are a monster, by connotation.
