I. Tong-Nou Myth

1. Tong-Nou Isle

Far to the east, floats an island called Tong-Nou. The island exists as an isolated organic being in the shape of a human head. Tong-Nou is a vast neuro-cellular world where mysterious creatures lurk.

2. The Beginning

In the beginning, chaos divided into Ying and Yang. Heaven and Earth* were born. On the surface of the Earth*, the Sun and Moon intersected bearing Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal, and Water. Wood produced Fire. Fire delivered Earth. Earth nursed Metal. Metal summoned Water, and Water fostered Wood. From this chain reaction, the world was created.

*Earth: the scene of existence in contrast to the unastronomical region heaven

3. Isle of Purgation

This world was then handed over to newly born humans. The five sacred elements having fulfilled their duties, assembled to the limits of the east and formed the Tong-Nou Isle. To stabilize the souls of troubled humans, this island became sacred grounds for purification.

4. Isle of Impurity

Once a year, Tong-Nou, the island of purgation, called forth the feeble souls of humans where they were once again restored into healthy souls. Suddenly, Tong-Nou transfigured into an ominous island which devours souls haphazardly. People since have come to fear Tong-Nou as an island of impurity.

Byou [BI-YO-U]
Land of Dreaming - Mon-chien

Under the orders of Sui-gyou (King of Mon-chien), Byou's mission is to head towards Ming-ken (Land of Life). There he must collect the Eyeball of Dreaming. Born with a wrench. Since his body is decorated with leaves, he loves to camouflage in the shade of trees. Receives frequent bullying from his fellow comrades because no other creature in the Land of Dreaming possesses leaves.

Tou [TO-U]
Land of Life - Ming-ken

Guardian of the Tree of Life. Tou's mission is to register new life. In order to register life, he must travel to Shi-chieng (Land of Time). Tou's fetish is mechanical apparatus. His fingers are long and thin. He also wears accurate eye glasses. Cannot bear his very own physique. An aerodynamic body (a hole right in the middle of the body) with a long and winding neck are the subjects of his inferiority complex.

Sha [SHI-YA]
Land of Desire - Yui-wang

Under the orders of King-gyou (King of Yui-wang), Sha's mission is to collect all four musical instruments of the Tong-Nou World. Sha is the chosen one. Only he can play the instruments. Loves music and can play any instrument. Winds up in his music room located within Yui-wang (Land of Desire). Fears a world without music. Next to that, he cannot approve of tone-deaf King-gyou's singing.

Kai [KA-I]
Land of Time - Shi-chieng

Guard of Shi-chieng (Land of Time) who protects the Candle of Life. His mission is to go and draw the Water of Dreams, which will be used to extinguish one particular candle. Dressing up in colorful flames turns him on. Burning red is his favorite color. Although his body is constantly up in flames, this doesn't necessarily mean he's a passionate one. Dislikes water that opposes fire. He fears that they will put out the flames of his body. Reluctantly heads for Mon-chien (Land of Dreaming) to fulfill his mission.

Jin [ZI-N]
Land of Desire - Yui-wang

Born in Yui-wang (Land of Desire), with a mission to serve as a faithful subordinate of King-gyou (King of Yui-wang). Gold before anything. Therefore, admires King-gyou for his body of gold. Wishes he were born as gold. Detests water, for it will corrode his bronze body.

Retsu [RE-TSU]
Land of Life - Ming-ken

Born as a vermin, dwells around Mingke-shu (Tree of Life) of Ming-ken (Land of Life). Born with the words of duty "help the troubled. Prefers to keep hidden in shrubs and bushes. Likes to gnaw at grass and trees. Birds that peck at insects and Moku-gyou (King of Ming-ken who dislikes vermin) are constant threats to Retsu.

Zen [ZE-N]
Land of Dreaming - Mon-chien

Guard of the ice wall of Mon-chien (Land of Dreaming). Born with the words of duty "notify all change." Born within and prisoner of the ice wall, gazing at the river flow and intersecting Magatamas are his only pastimes. To be confined within ice is heartbreaking. Hopes to literally "break the ice" someday upon completion of his mission.

Gyou [GI-YO-U]
Land of Time - Shi-chieng

Born in Shi-chieng (Land of Time) to perform the Ritual of Time. His mission is to feed flames to the Candles of Time. Being able to fly freely, Gyou enjoys hazardous aviation tricks like nose diving. The fact that he must accomplish his assigned task is annoying. He would rather give it up and go on another freestyle flight.

Moku-gyou [MO-KU-GI-YO-U]
Land of Life - Ming-ken

King of Ming-ken (Land of Life) who officiates over life and death in the Tong- Nou World. His particular personality and vermin-allergic predisposition, leads him to confine himself within the Mingke-shu (Tree of Life). Both confident of and dependent on his symbiotic partner (bird-like creature located above his head) to exterminate vermin. The truth is...NOT. Under the delusion that vermin and ants will devour his body. Moku-gyou dislikes them. Wooden products are also scary.

Zoh-gaeru Family [ZO-U-GA-E-RU]
Land of Life - Ming-ken

Zoh-gaeru 1
The supposititious queen.
Zoh-gaeru 2
The family prophet.
Zoh-gaeru 3
The moderate nihilist.
Zoh-gaeru 4
The young patriot.

Inhabitants of the forest in Ming-ken (Land of Life). There is a prophecy in the family that someday they will conquer the Tong-Nou World. The Zoh-gaeru Family do have patriotism but, due to their optimistic and foolish nature, they totally lack mass regulation. The total population is tremendous. Overall they are individualists, and live scattered throughout the forest. The prophecy of conquering the Tong-Nou World is preferred by many. Cannot tolerate togetherness. Periodic meetings of the family are held reluctantly. All members of the family generally know that their schemes to conquer are absolutely impossible.

Tabelinai [TA-BE-RI-NA-I]
Land of Life - Ming-ken

Lives solitarily in the Sha-mo Desert of Ming-ken (Land of Life). Deserted as he is, anybody will suit his taste. Once in love, he cannot help but express excessive affection. Please do not dislike him, it's just the way he is. Hungry for love, affectionate to all. His stomach is constantly filled with emptiness. Mouth washing, bathing, and cleaning disgust him. This lead to his dreadful cavity.

King-gyou [KI-N-GI-YO-U]
Land of Desire - Yui-wang

King of Yui-wang (Land of Desire), embraces infinite desire. His ugly desires have turned his body to gold. Possesses the power to turn human desires into gold or gems. Greedy and self-centered, but amiable. Collecting gold and gems to decorate the Helix Palace Luo-shang is his life work. A tone-deaf, but, a music freak. Seeks but the four missing instruments. All that is neither gold nor gems, are worth as much as dust. Simplicity and poverty are the words he most dislikes. Detests all tone-deaf people apart from himself.

Chi-fang [TI-HU-A-N]
Land of Desire - Yui-wang

Chi-fang is the Room of Appetite itself, located in Yui-wang (Land of Desire). This bottomless pit emits food only to engulf it again. Praises his own practice as being economical and ecological. Through this pursuit his body has evolved into mere lips, arms and a stomach. Wonders why he sustains such a large appetite and a love for food. Overloading the stomach of strangers can be more fun. Small appetites and discriminating palates are terribly disappointing.

Pu-ryao [PU-RI-YA-O]
Land of Desire - Yui-wang

Pu-ryao is the Room of Immortality itself, located within the Helix Palace Luo-shang. Pu-ryao, incarnation of the Moon, was brought to Tong-Nou forcibly by King-gyou. The Moon Water he holds will bring forth eternity, the life of gold (which is never ending). Misses home, the moon. His unfortunate circumstances have demented his personality, making nastiness his supreme entertainment. Dislikes King-gyou who kidnapped Pu-ryao only to obtain Moon Water.

Show-mi [SHI-YO-O-MI]
Land of Desire - Yui-wang

Show-mi is the Room of Desire itself, located within the Helix Palace Luo-shang. The name Show-mi has the meaning "to drown in women." True to his name, he lives like Casanova with three wives. He is enshrined on a swiveling bed, with a taciturn disposition. Rotary movements, ups and downs are his delight. Always taciturn. Things larger than himself are all dislikes for reasons unknown.

Nai-nai [NA-I-NA-I]
Land of Desire - Yui-wang

Lives within Show-mi (the Room of Desire itself) of the Helix Palace Luo-shang as his first wife. Believes she is loved most of the three but is uneasy about the other wives. Shake, shake, shake is her speciality. With her hard working attitude, supreme "SHAKES" are constantly maintained. Show-mi's other wives are annoying. She feels jealousy toward them because they have mouths and legs, which she does not.

Take-yacco [TA-KE-YA-TU-KO]
Land of Desire - Yui-wang

Lives within Show-mi (the Room of Desire itself) of the Helix Palace Luo-shang as his second wife. Her beautiful face and fascinating mouth make her superior to Nai-nai (first wife) and Twei-twei (third wife). Loves her face more than anything. Thinks her mouth is especially overflowing with sexual charm. Also enjoys tasting and blowing. Having had her teeth extracted by the orders of Show-mi, is concerned that this diminishes her beauty.

Twei-twei [TO-E-I-TO-E-I]
Land of Desire - Yui-wang

Lives within Show-mi (the Room of Desire itself) of the Helix Palace Luo-shang as his third wife. Believes she is better than the other two because she has well-developed legs. A stubborn character with much self-affection. Head over heels with her plump white legs. Red boots that show off her beautiful legs are her favorite. Terribly hates being touched. Seldom does she let Show-mi touch her beautiful legs. Bet your boots, she can be dreadful when angered.

Long-ri & Long-yui [RO-N-RI-I] [RO-N-YU-I]
Land of Desire - Yui-wang

Long-ri and Long-yui are Ball Dragons that live in a small room within Yui-wang (Land of Desire). Upon contact with a pure soul, these Ball Dragons turn into real dragons. Long-ri is the Ball of Sun. Long-yui is the Ball of Moon. When Long-ri and Long-yui breath fire at each other, the Golden Flower is born. Long-ri and Long-yui enjoy the transmigration upon contact with a pure soul from ball to dragon. They also like the process of producing Golden Flowers. Since Long-ri and Long-yui are enslaved by King-gyou, the Golden Flowers are taken away unwillingly. The sad part is, Golden Flowers are easily produced upon contact with pure Magatamas and the Ball Dragons have no control over this.

Ka-gyou [KA-GI-YO-U]
Land of Time - Shi-chieng

King of Shi-chieng (Land of Time) who officiates over time and fate in the Tong-Nou World. Lives within the Fire-Tower of Time Tong-tah. Ka-gyou is devoted to the study of legendary figures and historic events. Thinks this pose, where he lifts both arms, is most autocratic of all. Unfortunately his conduct tends to be quite comical. Hates to be put down. Especially when the twins (Ying and Yang) put him down, Ka-gyou flames with violent anger; although his body is always up in flames.

Ying and Yang [I-N] [YA-N]
Land of Time - Shi-chieng

The twins that work in Thi-eng, the computer room, located within the depths of the Fire-Tower of Time Tong-tah. These twins have contradictory characters. Ying has lead in his pants and is packed with lies. Yang is hard-working and known for his straightforwardness. Thi-eng, the computer room, is the Central Information Control Center of time and fate. Ying loves gossip and enjoys surreptitious hacking of information using the Thi-eng computer. Yang is a workaholic who simply loves this computer room. Since Ka-gyou unnecessarily orders the twins around, the twins naturally dislike him. Even the smallest mistake will anger Ka-gyou.

Ga-show [GA-SHI-YO-U]
Land of Time - Shi-chieng

A creature that dangles within the spiral passage of the Fire-Tower of Time Tong-tah. Gifted with special powers of teleportation, capable of making vertical teleportations from the bottom to the top or from the top to the bottom. However, halfway is not an option. Born from the Tree of Life on New Year's day, Ga-show (meaning "Happy New Year") loves the phrase "Happy New Year." Ga-show does not think he is incapable. Therefore, he is unable to understand Ka-gyou pressing him to further practice teleportation.

T.B.C. [TE-I-BI-SHI]
Land of Time - Shi-chieng

Lives within the Fire-Tower of Time Tong-tah. A creature physically made up of T., B., and C. Finds amusement in self-dismantlement. Lively fire is T., B., and C.'s favorite dish. Lives on flames of the Plains of Chi-u. T., B., and C. don't find togetherness a speciality. Their individualities make T., B., and C. move awkwardly.

Sui-gyou [SU-I-GI-YO-U]
Land of Dreaming - Mon-chien

King of Mon-chien (Land of Dreaming), Sui-gyou is quite happy if left alone to dream. Being a king, he must provide dreams to all of the residents. This responsibility can be quite unbearable. He does, however, possess the privilege to dream the best dream. His ideal is to drift away in dreams from day to day. His nature easily leads him to distress. He's usually in a depressive state, but in reality he enjoys that state. Hates quarrels. Will do anything to maintain a peaceful life. Since his responsibility is great, he is totally drained.

Ah & Ung [A] [U-N]
Land of Dreaming - Mon-chien

Gatekeepers of the entrance to the Palace of Dreaming Ping-chao. Ah is green and Ung is red. When visitors try to cross the borders into the palace, Ah and Ung rush over to hurl a riddle. They'll surely drive you away if you cannot answer correctly. They believe their intelligence quotients are quite high. They like riddles because they are intellectual games. They are into alchemy and are very fond of gold. They neglect those with low intelligence. As they confine themselves within a room in the palace, for them visitors are rather bothersome.

Mong-i [MO-N-I]
Land of Dreaming - Mon-chien

Collector of Magatamas for dreaming. Appointed the role of colleting Magatamas which flow into Mon-chien (Land of Dreaming). Mong-i swallows these Magatamas into his stomach and presents them to Sui-gyou (King of Mon-chien). All Magatamas are gathered and stored in the Palace of Dreaming Ping-chao. Using his privilege to collect Magatamas, Mong-i conceals fine ones for his own use. Fine ones are usually taken by Sui-gyou, so Mong-i hides them in secrecy until his turn comes around. Longs for his turn to dream. Devotes himself daily to the collecting of Magatamas. Exhausted from this full-time duty, he wishes for a shift.

Mong-aru [MO-N-A-RU]
Land of Dreaming - Mon-chien

Collector of Magatamas for dreaming. His turn to dream has just arrived. The number of Magatamas and chambers, within the Palace of Dreaming Ping-chao are limited. Therefore the competition involved is extraordinary. For the residents of this land, dreaming is a matter of life or death. Mong-aru has served as a Magatama collector at the river for many years. His long awaited turn has just arrived. Wishes for a wonderful dream, fast. The conclusion of his long awaited dream is most frightening. Nobody can tell when his next turn will be. Thinks this palace needs more chambers for dreaming.

Zuo-mong [TU-O-MO-N]
Land of Dreaming - Mon-chien

Zuo-mong is usually hidden within Sui-gyou (King of Mon-chien). Magatamas are illuminated with his insight, resulting in the appearance of dreams. He is of great importance to Mon-chien (Land of Dreaming). Prefers to drift away with his eye closed. He is capable of undergoing out of the body experiences. The process of manufacturing Magatamas for dreaming is straining his eye. Actually, his eyesight is gradually deteriorating.

Pang-xie [PA-N-SHI-E]
Land of Dreaming - Mon-chien

Proud of his lengthy legs and scissors, Pang-xie discovers the ultimate cuisine. Severs his leg to feed himself. His own legs are his favorite dish. No need to worry, they just keep growing back. Indeed, an eccentric creature. No alcohol, please. One drink and he'll turn completely red and eventually go unconscious. When under the influence, he'll feed you all, one after another, with his private cuisine.

Mai-chiu [MA-I-TI-U]
The Phantom Marketplace Hou-ang

Able merchant who manages the Phantom Marketplace Hou-ang alone. The Phantom Marketplace Hou-ang appears and vanishes along with Mai-chiu's ever-changing moods. The only identification is the Eyeball-Stone. Where you find the Eyeball-Stone, there is a way to the Phantom Marketplace Hou-ang. The marketplace is based on an exchange system. Mai-chiu is a weirdo who just loves the trading business. Therefore, the exchange regulations can be quite unique. Customers who do not appreciate his merchandise value or exchange regulation can stimulate his anger. Also dislikes customers who think money buys everything.

A-mong Family [E-MO-N]

Ichi-a-mong
Ni-a-mong
San-a-mong

Goh-a-mong

Stealing is the family business of the A-mong family. Scattered all over the Tong-Nou World they are diligent workers. Each of the five brothers and sisters have their own methods according to individual interests. So, beware! Confirm the contents of your Furoshiki when you encounter the non-traditional shoppers. Ichi-a-mong likes paper. Ni-a-mong will take anything. San-a-mong is a lonely kid. Yo-a-mong is a gambler. Goh-a-mong is an epicure. All members of the family dislike unsophisticated moves and pursue refined shopping methods. But, to others they all seem quite gaudy.

Fang-shing [HU-A-N-SHI-N]
Every Country of Tong-Nou

A hybrid, most frequently and easily born from the Mingke-shu (Tree of Life). Innumerable comrades with identical form are scattered all over the Tong-Nou World. Perfectly harmless, but again, he's no big cheese. A friendly verbose character who'll present you with a few clues. The Moku-gyou (King of Ming-ken) Administration is bound to eliminate the useless Fang-shing. But, they have never been successful at anything.

V. Tong-Nou Exchange Market

The Phantom Marketplace Hou-ang [HO-U-A-N]

Where you find the Eyeball-Stone, there is a way to the Phantom Marketplace Hou-ang. In the Marketplace, merchandise of the Tong-Nou World are being traded under Mai-chiu's own rules and regulations. Here we will explain the exchange system and regulations of the marketplace.

The Eyeball-Stone, symbol of the Phantom Marketplace Hou-ang, may be exchanged with the Morning Glory or the Wind Chime. The Eyeball-Stone is the origin of the Phantom Marketplace Hou-ang. The Morning Glory and the Wind Chime, which represent morning, have equal value. Besides this, just like the old proverb "A koma from a bottle gourd," the Bottle Gourd may be exchanged for a Koma. These are the first regulations of the Phantom Marketplace Hou-ang.

An Eyeball-Stone & Koma for a Hitogata, an Eyeball-Stone & Wind Chime for an Amulet, an Eyeball-Stone & Chopsticks for an Amulet, an Eyeball-Stone & Morning Glory for a Peach, may be exchanged. An Eyeball-Stone brought together with something useless may be exchanged for something useful. This is the second regulation of the Phantom Marketplace Hou-ang.

The Hitogata, Amulet, and Peach may be exchanged for a Tong-Nou Illustrated Book. Things of use may be exchanged for wisdom of great importance. However, the reverse is not possible. This is the third regulation of the Phantom Marketplace Hou-ang.



VI. Tong-Nou Table of Goods & Effects

Tong-Nou Illustrated Book
An anonymous old book that describes and illustrates the Tong-Nou World.

Amulet
A charm to protect the wearer against danger.

Hitogata
Piece of paper shaped as a human. Becomes your scapegoat when in danger or substitute to do whatever you want it to.

Peach
The fruit which creatures of the Tong-Nou World all detest. Kept in a bird cage since it grows afloat.

Eyeball-Stone
Where you find the Eyeball-Stone, there is a way to the Phantom Marketplace Hou-ang. Used as a token within the marketplace.

Ant
Extremely disliked in Ming-ken (Land of Life). Forbidden to come near the Mingke-shu (Tree of Life).

Wind Chime
Comforts the lonely and sad soul with music.

Morning Glory
A laxative. Don't worry, no unwanted bowel action by holding on to it.

Koma
For some reason, Moku-gyou (King of Ming-ken) fears this product. Can only be exchanged with a Bottle Gourd.

Eye-Glasses
Hidden within the Plains of Chiu, Shi-chieng (Land of Time). Useful device that decodes Tong-Nou Characters.

Gold Ingot
Gold of very fine quality which King-gyou (King of Yui-wang) collects and treasures above anything else.

Small Mallet
The demolition mallet. Destroys anything upon contact.

Panacea
A mysterious medicine that cures all, from overeating to illnesses. Its ingredients, you'd never want to know.

Moon Water
Water drawn from the Moon. One drink will lead you to immortality, the Life of Gold.

Sun Water
Water drawn from the Sun. An antidote of Moon Water.

Sheep Intestine
If used properly, it will act as a safety device for the prevention of disease and exhaustion.

Chopsticks
Without these, you will not be allowed to eat anything in the Tong-Nou World.

Golden Flower
When two Dragons encounter a pure soul, they breathe fire out at each other. From these events, the Golden Flower will be born.

Mirror
A mirror to reflect your appearance during each reincarnation.

Koto of Wood
A Koto made out of an old decayed boat. The sound of the Koto is filled with vitality.

Drum of Fire
This drum was made from the shell of fire and the skin of a one legged beast. This drums roars as if it were going to burn your heart out.

Bell of Gold
A bell made from the purest gold. Its clear tones can settle one's soul.

Flute of Water
A flute made from the backbone of a beast from Mon-chien (Land of Dreams). When played it has the power to charm all who listen.

Little Box of Sound
The Little Box of Sound is granted only to the one who has found all four musical instruments. Music of the four musical instruments are all contained in this box.

Registration Card
A card given to those who have finished the Registration of Life in Shi-chieng (Land of Time).

Eyeball of Dreaming
An irreplaceable object in Mon-chien (Land of Dreaming). Without it, dreaming would be impossible.

Leaf Sack
Made from durable leaves, this sack is meant for containing the Water of Dreaming, which springs out from Mon-chien (Land of Dreaming).

Wrench
A necessity when installing the Eyeball of Dreaming.

Disc of Wood
A disc given to those who register life in Shi-chieng (Land of Time).

Key of Gold
Key to the shelf in the Room of Desire, located within the Helix Palace Luo-shang. This shelf contains King-gyou's (King of Yui-wang) precious collections.

Compass
This compass will guide you when you are lost in the Plains of Chi-u.

Katana of Five Forces
When held in captivity, this Katana will cut all strings loose and set you free. The five Katana Gems, which represent the five forces, must combine as one to become the Katana of Five Forces.

Bottle Gourd
(Try shaking it) Sounds like there is something inside. Will be useful in the Phantom Marketplace Hou-ang.

Rotating Boulder
An enormous Tong-Nou creature that has nothing to do but rotate constantly. Considered to be one of the lower creatures.

Food of Desire
The feast Chi-fang emits will definitely suit your taste.

Water of Dreaming
Water which springs out from Mon-chien (Land of Dreaming). Only this water can extinguish the Candles of Time.



VII. Tong-Nou Prophecy

The Tong-Nou Isle consists of five lands. Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal and Water. Souls travel with change to be reborn afresh. The souls branch out to five fragments. The Magatama are fragments of a soul. Magatamas of Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal and Water branch and store force. The five forces of Magatama are Life, Confrontation, Source, Eternity and Change.

The Magatamas are cleansed and returned as new souls. Gaze at the image of beauty, Tong-Nou Isle and the sending forth of souls. The Sun, the sign of abundance, is rising once again with its unlimited force.

Soon, when exactly 9081726354 souls are cleansed, for a limited time only, he who officiates the roots of all souls will appear from the head of Tong-Nou. Four pairs of twins will then be delivered. They will be called Bibo and Pipo, Babebu and Babebo, Jido and Jizo, and Dadezu and Zazezu.

The quaternion of twins will unite their forces and head towards the Sun in the heavenly sky, then proceed on into outer space. Finally, Tong-Nou will be set free. But so far, this talk of the future lies distant as in dreams.

IMPORTANT IN GAME TEXT;

INTRO TEXT:
One morning, Rin discovered the absence of a soul.
It appeared to be the act of Tong-Nou,the island which lies far to the east. Once a year Tong-Nou, the living island,devours the soul of humans. Once a soul has been taken,he or she will be left to weaken and eventually die in emptiness.
Rin decides to head for Tong-Nou to regain the missing soul. Before the journey, Rin stops to visit Yashiro. On the way, Rin encounters a white snake and recives an Amulet and a Furoshiki.
Yashiro had given Rin a temporary soul. This made Rin temporarily able for forty nine days.
Rin set out to sail towards Tong-Nou, the island far to the east.

UPON RIN'S DEATH:
You have been burnt to death.
You breathed your last. But do not fear death. From now you will acquire nine lives. Eventually, you will discover your own self for the first time.

We never really knew what dreams were until we discovered Magatamas. They introduced us to dreams and ever since we are prisoners of dreams.
Dreams are truly myserious. We experience different space and time within dreams. This difference will never let us go.
But this Eyeball of Dreaming has grown old. Deteriorating day to day. The length of dreams are decreasing already.
Byou, you are a mechanic. You must acquire a new Eyeball of Dreaming and install it into Zuo-mong.
The Eyeball of Dreaming is located under the Mingke-shu (Tree of Life). You are the only one able to acquire this. Hurry Byou, for the dreaming of all.

Byou, you are the mechanic of the Land of Dreaming. You are the chosen one able to handle the Eyeball of Dreaming. The underground of the Mingke-shu (Tree of Life) is hard to reach.
Whom does the Eyeball of Dreaming belong to? If you can answer this question, the doors to the underground will open.

Yes, the Eyeball of Dreaming belongs to the King of the Central Mountain, Tou-gyou. But, he is long gone.
Tou-gyou's right eye was taken by Sui-gyou and the left eye was buried here, under the Tree of Life. Now, go and give greedy Sui-gyou the left eye too.

Zuo-mong's Eyeball of Dreaming has been renewed. Once again, we are able to dream many dreams.
But when the supply of Magatamas come to an end, our dreams will be lost forever. No one knows when the Magatama flow will dry out.
To dream we must acquire more Magatamas.
Byou, your life ends here. But no matter how many times you reincarnate, we will never forget you, Byou.
You are the savior of Mon-chien (Land of Dreaming). You are engraved within our dreams. We will dream of you over and over.
That's what dreams are meant to be.

TOU'S MISSION:
Your name is Tou. You are born in the Land of Life. You are the guardian of the Tree of Life.
You are the guardian of the Tree of Life. You must travel to the Land of Time in order to register life that is born from the tree.
You are born with a Disc of Wood. You are the only one who can make use of this special Disc of Wood. This will become of use to you in the Land of Time.
The King of Life will be able to give you an explanation on your mission.

The Land of Life, Ming-ken, produces all life forms in Tong-Nou. It plays a very important role. So, your mission will be extremely serious.
You are the Guardian of the Tree of Life. You must register new life that is born from the tree. That is your mission.
The Registration of Life will be performed within Tong-tah of Shi-chieng (Land of Time). Bring the Registration Card to me.
Anyway, upon registration they will be able to experience time in the Tong-Nou World.
Think for yourself on how to reach the Fire-Tower of Time Tong-tah. I am very busy. Those irritating and ignorant Fang-shing are multiplying real fast.
You must register your name and the names of the four Zou-gaerus. The Zou-gaerus live at the end of the forest. I do not recall the names. Go and ask for yourself.

So, I understand you have completed the registration. Tou, your life is about to come to an end.
Before you pass away, I will reveal the secrets of Mingke-shu to you.
Your body will return to the roots of the Mingke-shu and become Earth. It will be nutriment for the Mingke-shu.
The Mingke-shu makes use of nutriment and Magatamas to produce new life. This is how the reincarnation process has been repeated.
It is nothing to be afraid of. The Tree of Life, Mingke-shu is so to speak our mother. It is truly our homeland, where we return again and again.

Tou accomplished his mission in life. After listening to Moku-gyou's words, Tou breathed his last.

SHA'S MISSION:
Your name is Sha. You are born in the Land of Desire. You must collect music there.
There are four musical instruments in this world. When you have obtained all of these instruments, you will be granted with music which you have never heard before.
You are the only chosen one who can play the Bell of Gold. When you play, all paths will clear up.
First, go to your own room in the Land of Desire.

Sha, the one who collects music. This room has been longing for you.
When the Central Mountain Tong-Nou was sealed, the four musical instruments of the world were hidden. The musical instruments will bring forth discipline when played.
Sha, the Bell of Gold you possess is one of the four missing musical instruments. All musical instruments act in concert when played. Use the Bell of Gold as a clue to find the other musical instruments.
Return to this room when you have collected all four instruments. You must not offer these to King-gyou because, these musical instruments are truly yours to keep.

Sha has accomplished his mission in life. Embraced by the most beautiful melodies of fortune, Sha breathed his last.

KAI'S MISSION:
Your name is Kai. You are born in the Land of Time. You must protect the Candle of Life there.
There are innumerable candles in the Land of Time. You must extinguish one particular candle.
You are born with a Leaf Sack. The true meaning of use will be known in time.
The King of Time will be able to give you an explanation.

Shi-chieng is the land which manipulates the time and fate of life. So to speak, Tong-Nou lies within our hands. The Ritual of Time is especially important.
Did you see the candles that surround the Fire-Tower of Time Tong-tah? Each candle within the Plains of Chi-u represent the time of life of an individual. Each life is registered in the Thi-eng computer.
Whenever the Thi-eng computer determines the fate of life, the corresponding candle must be turned on or off. That is called the Ritual of Time.
Kai, you must extinguish one particular candle. In other words, you must put an end to his time. Under some circumstances he has been born by mistake.
But, extinguishing a flame will be quite troublesome. The fire of this land is produced by the power of Magatamas. Tong-tah's flame is so powerful that it has never been extinguished.
The Candle of Time can only be extinguished by the Water of Dreaming, which is located in Mon-chien (Land of Dreaming). Here, take this leaf sack to contain the Water of Dreaming.
The candle you must extinguish is located one step north, one step east, and three steps to the south. I'm counting on you, Kai.

The moment the candle flame was extinguished, Kai breathed his last. This candle flame was a representation of Kai's life.
Kai was born from the Mingke-shu under Moku-gyou's manipulation error. For Ka-gyou, Kai had been expendable.
The kings are killing time by manipulating life.

In any case, Kai has accomplished his mission in life.

JIN'S MISSION:
Your name is Jin. You were meant to be born in the Land of Desire. But...
It seems as though your reincarnation was unsuccessful. The body you have chosen could not withstand the weight of your soul.

But, you have fulfilled your short life.

RETSU'S MISSION:
Your name is Retsu. You are born in the Land of Life. You will live among the roots of the Tree of Life.
You must open the gates of the Tree of Life. That is the meaning to your life.

Retsu's body was suddenly uplifted into mid-air and thrown against the Tree of Life. The next moment, Retsu breathed his last. In exchange for Retsu's life, the gates of the Tree of Life have opened.
Retsu, accomplished his mission in life.

ZEN'S MISSION:
Your name is Zen. You are born in the Land of Dreaming.
You are born as a guard within the ice walls of the Land of Dreaming. You must lookout for trespassers and notify change.

Zen yelled at the top of his voice, but was smashed to death by the intruder.
Zen gracefully fulfilled his mission in life.

GYOU'S MISSION:
Your name is Gyou. You are born in the Land of Time.
You must participate in the Ritual of Time.

The Ritual of Time begins.
Spontaneously, flames burst from Gyou's head. A new fire of life lights a new candle.
But, Gyou's own body ended up in flames.

Gyou's life has been fulfilled.

RIN'S MISSION:
You have fulfilled nine lives.
Your name is Rin. Your original life has been restored.
You must head for the Central Mountain. The mountain will open, but only to the one who has fulfilled nine lives. You must regain your soul there.

Welcome to the Land of Time, Shi-chieng. Magatamas are gathered here and the power of fire is produced.
Collected Magatamas are gathered near a candle located to the west of the Fire-Tower of Time Tong-tah.

You still lack the power to fulfill your objective. I will grant you a Katana Gem. My final force, the force of Earth (Source), is contained within this gem.
You must find the remaining four forces on your own. When all of the five forces have been acquired, the Katana of Five Forces will appear to save you.
The remainders of my force are hidden where you find my image. Head to Yui-wang (Land of Desire) and find my presence there.

Rin, this is the last force. I shall provide the force of Fire to the Katana Gem.
So far, you have only encountered portions of my body that have been torn to eight pieces. Therefore, my force has been dispersed. You have been collecting these forces and someday they will become of use to you.
The Katana Gem has been filled with all five forces. Now head towards the Central Mountain Tong-nou.

The Katana of Five Forces possesses the power to release anybody held in captivity. Rin, the moment to regain your soul has come.

The balls that the four Kings emit, tangle and bind Magatamas.

The Slough of Rin's soul appeared.
Return the Magatamas to the Slough.

The fragments of Rin's soul, the five Magatamas, were restored. Rin's former soul has returned.

My name is Tou-gyou. I am the King of Tong-nou. Rin, I too have been set free with your Katana.
Tong-Nou is not a world where souls are devoured. It calls forth the troubled souls to stabilize and purify. It was an island of purification.
But, King-gyou, Sui-gyou, Moku-gyou and Ka-gyou discovered the use of human souls. They united to tear me into eight pieces and scattered my parts in eight directions.
The eight pieces of my body were dispersed all over the Tong-Nou World.
I called for a strong soul to gather my pieces. Again and again, I called out for a strong soul to perform the rescue.
But unfortunately, these souls could not withstand the force of the four Kings and were devoured.
The last soul I called for was the ninth one, which happened to be yours. You have saved me.
Rin your soul, which has traveled the Tong-Nou World, is now more brilliant and more stronger than it has ever been.
Now it is time for you to return to where you belong.
Tong-Nou will return as the "Isle of Purgation." It shall never devour a soul again.
Your soul returns, emitting beautiful light.

In Tong-Nou, there is no end. The Sun,the Moon and the Stars portray a triangle and revolve within Chu-Teng. The Sun glares, the Moon shines calmly, and the Stars sparkle in the sky. Everything will continue eternally by performing repetition. Time is located within this accumulation of repetition. Here, life is not a beginning and death is not an ending. Your soul will travel on to the next life and again on to the next. This journey will never come to an end. Everything will continue eternally by performing repetition. Eventually your soul will speak to you. The soul will speak of the time spent with each journey. Your life is one part of this enormous transmigration. The infinite repetition of life creates this enormous transmigration. All that has been accumulated is of value. Fortune and misfortune, pleasure and suffering, the useful and useless. All that has been acquired will be inherited to the next life. Your soul will continue this traveling eternally. Into the infinite and eternal future.
