Bei der Polizei von Hongkong ist man mächtig stolz darauf, die sicherste Stadt von ganz Asien zu beschützen. Doch erleidet der Stolz eine empfindliche Delle, als eines Tages im Zuge eines scheinbaren Routineeinsatzes ein ganzes Eliteteam samt Einsatzfahrzeug gekidnappt wird. Von Unbekannten, die sich bei der Polizei und ihren internen Mechanismen bestens auszukennen scheinen. Die handelnde Doppelspitze der Polizei hat unterschiedliche Vorgehensweisen im Sinn, was bald zu offenem Streit führt. Internal Affairs schaltet sich ein.

"Infernal Affairs" heißt gut erkennbar das inoffizielle Vorbild dieses elegant in kühle Szene gegossenen, hochkarätig besetzten Hochglanz-Polizeithrillers aus Hongkong. Hochrangige Polizisten kochen ihre Süppchen, es geht um Einfluss, Macht und Karriere, die Grenzen zwischen Recht und Unrecht verwischen, je tiefer die Strukturen seziert werden. Im Stile einem Hollywoodthriller ähnlicher als dem alten Hongkong-Polizeifilm, und damit womöglich ein Tipp für größere Fankreise.
