  1. Hi! This is P!ka again, showcasing the team that I used for the third Dark core ladder challenge.
  2. Mega Absol ans Sableye- Sableye is kind of staple on a standard dark team as it brings that fighting immunity, but Mega Absol would be among one of the last mons I would consider when making a dark team. Though it has good mixed offensive stats and a base speed of 115, its really frail and you always know that if you don't one hit the opposing mon, you're most probably getting Ohkoed yourself, lol. So yeah, using it over the other, more viable megas was the real challenge in this one.
  3.
  4. The team that I used for this challenge was built to have the best chance in all neutral/advantage matchups.
  5. You'd ask 'How do you deal with fairies without bisharp?'
  6. Im simply going to answer that I cannot. Even with bisharp, theres stuff on fairy that can easily deal with it. Especially Mega Diancie, which no single viable unscarfed mon can outspeed and Ko.
  7. 'Why does that team have no special attackers?'
  8. I don't really feel the need of one on my team (nor do I have the space for one). Theres no physical wall in monotype that I have trouble dealing with. Besides, crawdaunt has almost no walls, 2hkoing skarm, mandibuzz, quagsire, pory2, ohkoing slowbro etc.
  9.
  10. This team does good enough against bugs, but the fighting matchup is again one sided. On paper I have a fighting immunity in sableye, and Mandibuzz, but actually they always have a way to beat the core (esp sub/cm keldeo). Dark monotype lacks something that can always come in and get a kill against fighting, Play rough from Mega absol is a 2hko on Keldeo/Terrakion, and more importantly there's no single opportunity to Mega evolve against a standard fighting team unless I run protect >.> Scarf honchkrow can kind of work, but the weakness to rocks, frailness against priority and Brave bird recoil makes it unreliable.
  11.
  12. So yes, If I make the right plays, the team does really well against all other matchups.
  13.
  14. The team-
  15. I have Ttar for rocks, and crippling fast threats(like mega alt) with twave, mandibuzz as the best physical wall available on dark and a reliable defogger. Crawdaunt, which breaks walls for days, and also has a reliable stab priority in aqua jet which can help against offensive teams. Lastly theres Weavile, which I chose over Bisharp cause of only one reason-mega altaria.

  75. Threats:
  76. . Fairy monotypes: not much to say here really
  77. . Keldeo: This is the biggest threat to a dark team, in my opinion. The specs set has no switchins but can be played around. Scarf keldeo can always catch you off guard, but a sub/cm keldeo, which is getting really popular now, can beat dark teams single handedly. Weavile, being faster can break the sub, and then I can bring Mega Absol in to finish it off with a play rough, thats how I try to deal with it.
  78. . Mega Diancie on rock: This is the main reason I run crawdaunt because the rock user doesn't fear to set up webs even with Bisharp, as +2 sucker punch does about 50% to Diancie, and it can go on and sweep the entire team as no scarfer outspeeds it. Also, adamant lo aqua jet ohko on mega diancie is a roll, and also they can play smart and not mega evolve to beat crawdaunt 1v1, so i need some prior damage on it.
  79. . Mega Altaria: This is one of the biggest threats as it just needs a dd up to win the game, also it has things like heal bell, facade etc which make it even more difficult for dark. Against my team, it can't setup more than one dd, ttar has twave and if its heal bell variant, then it takes a stone edge which brings it in ice shard range. It cannot setup more than one dd on mandi cause of foul play damage. Rocky helmet brings it in ice shard ko range. I need to play smart enough not to get a kill with crawdaunt so that it can come in and setup on it. By the points I mentioned, it sounds that mega alt isnt really that much of a threat, but when you see the team support it gets on both monotypes (skarm for wearing down weavile with Lo damage and latias with dual screens + healing wish on dragons) its really difficult to deal with this threat.
  80.
  81. So yeah, thats pretty much it. Hope you like my team :D
