  1. Quill's Story
  2.
  3. This is the story of Quill, a starting trainer's Pokemon.
  4.
  5. I remember what it was like as a Cyndaquil. Playing with the other young Pokemon, all eager to meet our new trainers. Professor Elm took good care of us, and if a Cyndaquil was given away instead of us, well, we could wait, and frolic. Sometimes, though, it wasn't all good. There was that time a Totodile, a friend of mine, was stolen by a thief. A few of us were sad then. Before that, we had been given the chance to meet our future evolutions, the final stages which could all grow to.
  6.
  7. I did not like mine. The Typhlosion exploded randomly and fought at the drop of a stone. They bullied the others, and only the Feraligatr stood up to them. Two fierce titans, more than one fight broke out. But the Feraligatr were kind and gentle to the Totodiles, letting them bite their hard skin, and the Meganiums nurtured their Chikorita. But the Typhlosion?
  8.
  9. They couldn't care less. I heard a few discussing, mentioning their past conquests and how they had defeated Pokemon. It sounded horrible, although we all knew Pokemon battles happened. They were meant to be for fun, though. The leader of these Typhlosion had been called Lucifer, and he fought with Behemoth, a Feraligatr, often.
  10.
  11. I did not want to grow up to be a Typhlosion. I did not want to become a violent bully, a heartless fighter. I wanted to be strong, but still have fun. Then the day came, and I was chosen.

  15. His name was Gold. Just by hearing his name I could sense he'd be a kind trainer. Professor Elm handed over my Pokeball to him, just like I had seen many others do, and I was on my way. Our first battle was a Sentret, and boy did it feel good to scratch and batter. When it was fainted, he hugged me, and we went on, defending my trainer from the other Pokemon.
  16.
  17. On through our journeys we went, fighting our first gym leader Falkner, then Bugsy (That was quite an easy battle if I do say so myself). In Ilex forest I proved myself once again. Along the way we fought against Team Rocket, mean villains who punished Pokemon. I did my hardest against them because they reminded me precisely of those Typhlosion.
  18.
  19. Finally, the day came, and as the 'Executive''s Pokemon fainted, I felt myself change. Slowly my body grew bigger, my eyes opened properly and I reached the next level of my evolutionary journey. I was a Quilava.
  20.
  21. So many more battles, and they got harder this time. Jasmine was a tough battle, and I was badly injured. We won, but I had fainted. Only my second fainting, but still, I was so disappointed in myself. My trainer didn't mind, as we had won, but I thought to myself how unfair it must be for him to be using a Quilava, and not a Typhlosion. Although I was near, I'm sure, I fought as best I could, dreading the day more and more that I would become a Typhlosion, and a raging bully.
  22.
  23. One day, we were fighting in Pryce's gym, and when the Dewgong I had been fighting lay defeated, I felt it. The same sensation. Evolution. This was it… I just hoped I'd be different.
  24.
  25. But suddenly, it stopped. I felt something cold inhibit my need to evolve, and saw my trainer bending down. "Quill, I want you to have this. It's called an Everstone, and it stops a Pokemon who is holding it from evolving. I don't want you to change, not until you want to. I hope you don't mind, I just don't want an uncontrollable and volatile Typhlosion as my main pokemon yet."
  26.
  27. He understands.
