  4. SUBJECT: Regarding "Men's rights campaign stirs conflict on Commercial Drive" by Derek Bedry
  5.
  6. Hello Mr. Godsall and Mr. Ferri,
  7.
  8. I am writing to you with concern over a recent article published by your site by Derek Bedry, titled "Men's rights campaign stirs conflict on Commercial Drive". I would like you to know that I was quite offended by unsourced claims by Mr. Bedry attempting to connect Anders Breivik to the men's rights movement, as well as the strong bias of the article as opposed to the more balanced coverage people assume from news organizations.
  9.
  10. While the MRM and men's rights activists are not perfect (who is?) our purpose is not to oppress women, as Mr. Bedry tries to suggest between the lines, but rather to ensure a legal balance between men and women, a goal that mainstream feminism has dropped as radical, misandrist feminists have gained control of the pulpit. When we push for men's rights, we are trying to give men a say in family courts; we are trying to lessen false rape accusations; we are trying to ensure that people recognize that men can also be raped, not just women. We are trying to make it so that men don't feel so trapped by the system that suicide is the only way out.
  11.
  12. We are not trying to "put women back in the kitchen" or revert society back to a time when men could get away with abusing their partners. An equal society helps both men and women, and that is what we fight for. We're just fighting for equality by making sure that improvements for the condition of women is by raising them up, rather than pulling men down.
  13.
  14. Because of the vicious tone and obvious bias of Mr. Bedry's article, I strongly suggest that you, as the editors in charge of OpenFile.ca, do censure Mr. Bedry for his article, and ensure that future articles from him are actually sourced for any controversial claims that he may make. I would like to be kept aware of any actions you take regarding the article.
  15.
  16. Best regards,
  17.
