  1. <riply> zetheroo, try ext4 if you're only using it in ubuntu of ntfs if winblows too

  3. <ikonia> your usb controller may have weaker support in linux than windows
  4. <histo> Ben64: No same issue here with usb but i'm thinking its an issue with fat for some reason. I have yet to test it though with other FS types
  5. <Ben64> fat32 is just as fast as windows
  6. <Onkeltem> histo: hehe, trivial: my mother liked my monitors and asked me to purchase the same for her. I've come to her but forgot to look at my models :)

  9. <ikonia> riply: it's called "windows" - if you want serious help, treat it respectfully
  10. <Ben64> ntfs is slow, especially when the partition gets more full
  11. <riply> zetheroo, ye, it's annoying. In fact, to further increase the frustration, after it says that it's done - it is in fact not. If I try to safely remove it, it says that it's busy and I have to wait a while longer too.
  12. <histo> ikonia: lol
  13. <zetheroo> ikonia: wow really?
  14. <riply> ikonia, seriously?
  15. * vlad_starkov has quit (Remote host closed the connection)
  16. <zetheroo> riply: yes, I have had that happen too
  17. * matejv has quit (Ping timeout: 240 seconds)
  18. <riply> ikonia, I don't want help, I was just saying that I suffer a similar issue. I'm not phased by it.
  19. <Onkeltem> histo: and have only ssh to my superb PC harverster with 3 monitors :)

  21. <ikonia> if you can't use the proper names of software/tools - then don't bother discussing it

  23. <histo> I've experienced the same usb speed issue on multiple machines.
  24. * adellam has quit (Quit: adellam)
  25. <histo> That's why I think its filesystem related or something else going on .

  27. <Ben64> maybe i'm just lucky then. I get ~40MB/s over usb2.0 to a fat32 partition
  28. * master_of_master has quit (Ping timeout: 264 seconds)
  29. <riply> ikonia, I don't like Windows. I don't like that they stole the OS. I don't like that they capitalised off of the world. I don't like that they 'innovate' by stealing. I will call the OS WinBLOWS if I like.
  30. <ikonia> Ben64: I don't think so, I get a similar experience as you
  31. <histo> Ben64: Yeah I could never touch that.
  32. * ChanServ gives channel operator status to ikonia
  33. * ikonia sets mode +q #ubuntu *!*@196.41.17.10
  34. * ChanServ removes channel operator status from ikonia
  35. <riply> histo, try some other filesystems mate. Let us know?
  36. <Ben64> but it's not a flash drive, its a hdd with a usb adapter

  39. <ikonia> Ben64: similar here, but I do get a reasonable match to windows performance with usb stick's too
  40. * __Hackuin__ has quit (Ping timeout: 264 seconds)
  41. * davi has quit (Ping timeout: 252 seconds)
  42. <histo> Ben64: riply I experience it alsow with usb enclosure or flash drive. But like I say it's rare that I use them.
