tfw you want to write a post exploring garnet’s mental illness coding but you’ve already seen people in the pearl-centric part of the fandom tear people down for writing about a character other than pearl w/r/t mental illness and since many of your examples come from the arc where pearl initiates a conflict with garnet you fear the small-but-ever-growing subset of fans who’ll bend over backwards to defend pearl’s every action will quickly take it to a place of ableism and mental illness gatekeeping in order to invalidate garnet’s reaction to that situation, which is a shame because your point has nothing to do with pearl, you just know how quickly everything needs to be made about pearl if you mention steven universe and mental illness in the same sentence and don’t want to be yelled at
