  1. [02:35] Keileon Also for Vindrgard
  2. [02:36] Keileon I'm thinking that, for thematic reasons, one of- if not THE- chief deity is going to have something to do with air/wind and the Nidhoggr personally
  3. [02:37] Shadow Makes sense
  4. [02:38] Keileon I literally have nothing beyond that.
  5. [02:38] Keileon lol!
  6. [02:38] Keileon I'll figure it out
  7. [02:39] Shadow Though it makes sense for the planet to have wind/air themes in general because of the name
  8. [02:39] Keileon ^
  9. [02:40] Keileon And what do you know, dragons fly
  10. [02:40] Keileon !!!
  11. [02:40] Shadow ...lol
  12. [02:40] Keileon (I'm joking)
  13. [02:42] Keileon Perhaps
  14. [02:42] Keileon To keep Calemvir's soul from accidentally being lost in the spirit world rather than reincarnating
  15. [02:42] Keileon One of the gods "collects" it, or commissions a Soul Harvester or something to, after the weapon goes off
  16. [02:43] Shadow o that makes sense
  17. [02:43] Shadow I could see that happening, yeah
  18. [02:44] Keileon And said god keeps the soul safe until the dust settles and it's safe to reincarnate him
  19. [02:49] Keileon So when making an article where would I note the planet's rebirth cycle?
  20. [02:49] Keileon Culture has a planet-specific section but it doesn't /really/ go there
  21. [02:49] Shadow ...Good point. Mmm... maybe Theology
  22. [02:49] Keileon Works for now
  23. [02:51] Keileon http://manaverse.zejroleplaying.org/index.php?title=User:Keileon/Vindrgard
  24. [02:51] Keileon Veeeeery skeletal
  25. [02:51] Keileon But
  26. [02:51] Keileon Still
  27. [02:53] Keileon You know
  28. [02:53] Keileon Depending on how old Vindrgard itself is
  29. [02:53] Keileon Since humans do survive to start civilization anew... imagine how long they've had to improve technology
  30. [02:54] Shadow Well, a /lot/ of it would be lost, honestly.
  31. [02:55] Keileon I'm not saying it's Crysia-level
  32. [02:55] Keileon But the /knowledge/ itself would carry over
  33. [02:55] Keileon And that alone is helpful
  34. [02:55] Keileon That could even be intended by the pantheon
  35. [02:56] Shadow I wasn't even calling that out either rofl. But considering that the knowledge would still (in some way) exist, and how many iterations they've gone through, obviously each successive rise of civilization is substantially better than the last.
  36. [02:56] Keileon I love this. One of my worlds is technologically primitive and the other is potentially advanced.
  37. [02:56] Keileon Oh, I know
  38. [02:56] Keileon I was using Crysia as an example
  39. [02:58] Keileon ... And just imaging the loop the pantheon gets thrown for when Jaguar arrives on Vindrgard
  40. [02:58] Keileon *imagine
  41. [02:58] Keileon I don't think they foresaw Silpelits LOL
  42. [02:59] Shadow Anything offworld is basically out of their own parameters of control
  43. [02:59] Keileon I can imagine them going like
  44. [02:59] Keileon "Uh. Okay, let's roll with this, it could be helpful."
  45. [03:00] Keileon ... Huh
  46. [03:00] Keileon Considering after a while they /would/ develop interstellar travel
  47. [03:00] Keileon The constant improvement of human civilization could also indirectly improve other planets
  48. [03:01] |<-- Cerberus has left irc.paradoxirc.net (Quit: http://www.mibbit.com ajax IRC Client)
  49. [03:02] Shadow Interstellar travel... Yeah, I suppose
  50. [03:05] Keileon Mmm.
  51. [03:05] Keileon This is coming together nicely, if a bit slowly
  52. [03:17] Keileon Filling in some of the page
  53. [03:19] Keileon http://manaverse.zejroleplaying.org/index.php?title=User:Keileon/Vindrgard#The_Renewal_Cycle
  54. [03:20] Keileon okay well
  55. [03:20] Keileon it's a start
  56. [03:25] Dark Speaking of articles, finally actually writing down shit in Ferona's Theology section
  57. [03:26] Keileon I'm thinking of having Vindrgard adopt a date system similar to Skyrim
  58. [03:26] Keileon Where I think it's... 4E <number>
  59. [03:26] Dark everything is skyrim
  60. [03:26] Keileon So the nth day of the fourth era
  61. [03:27] Keileon or
  62. [03:27] Keileon something
  63. [03:27] Keileon The similarity to Skyrim /here/ is coincidental
  64. [03:27] Dark Actually it's ES in general and it's <number>E<number>
  65. [03:27] Keileon o
  66. [03:27] Keileon I prefer mine
  67. [03:27] Keileon !!!
  68. [03:27] Dark where number before E only changes after a pivotal moment in history like the Oblivon Crisis in, well, Oblivion
  69. [03:28] Keileon Oh so it was basically what I said without the space
  70. [03:28] Keileon okay
  71. [03:28] Dark Well it is Elder Scrolls' date system in general
  72. [03:28] Keileon Yes I know that
  73. [03:28] Keileon But the only one I've played is Skyrim and that's the Fourth Era
  74. [03:28] Dark it can be written with or without space
  75. [03:28] Keileon o
  76. [03:29] Dark Morrowind is 2E, Oblivion is 3E
  77. [03:29] Dark Well
  78. [03:29] Dark 3E slash 4E
  79. [03:29] Dark as 4E is postgame
  80. [03:29] Keileon ah
  81. [03:30] Keileon But yeah I think I'll use a similar date system for this
  82. [03:40] Keileon Okay so
  83. [03:41] Keileon I have what I think I'll make a storm god, and some sort of afterlife god
  84. [03:42] Keileon Probably with a life god counterpart (plus, really. This is a Norse-inspired world. Perfect excuse for me.)
  85. [03:42] Keileon ... Or maybe rolled into one
  86. [03:42] Keileon Hm.
  87. [03:42] Keileon ...
  88. [03:42] Shadow Speaking of gods, this also brings up the issue of Spiralsky's Eiclerians
  89. [03:42] Keileon I think I just uh
  90. [03:43] Keileon Accidentally made Nathair Vindrite
  91. [03:43] Shadow lol?
  92. [03:43] Keileon My train of thought:
  93. [03:44] Keileon Afterlife god and life god -> wait maybe this could work as one concept -> can't use yggdrasil for the whole thing though -> Maybe Ouroboros? -> ... -> w-wait.
  94. [03:44] Keileon Also I /barely/ remember what Eiclerians are
  95. [03:47] Shadow They are the "false gods". Some sort of extraplanar beings that had established themselves as deities in some country or whatever, bringing forth superior magic/technology overall but in exchange they basically have society dancing in the palm of their hands
  96. [03:47] Keileon Ahh
  97. [03:47] Keileon So Daedra-- *shot*
  98. [03:48] Shadow wat
  99. [03:48] Keileon (only dark and flim would get it)
  100. [03:48] Flimzy Shadow doesn't TES
  101. [03:48] Keileon Yes that's why I added the parenthetical comment
  102. [03:48] Flimzy I could tell ahead of time that Shadow would hate TES.
  103. [03:48] Keileon probably
  104. [03:48] Keileon the lore of tamriel is so fucking deep though
  105. [03:49] Flimzy I'd call it plentiful more so than deep.
  106. [03:49] Keileon Well
  107. [03:49] Keileon It's deep in several cases
  108. [03:49] Keileon But anyway
  109. [03:49] Keileon Shadow that could actually work fairly well
  110. [03:50] Shadow I'm looking for Spiralsky's .txt thing but I can't find it asdasd
  111. [03:50] Keileon is reading over the Spiralsky log herself.
  112. [03:50] Keileon (I'll shoot it to you)
  113. [03:50] Shadow I'm pretty sure I saved it somewhere too
  114. [03:51] Keileon dropbox sync pls
  115. [03:52] Keileon come on dropbox it's only-- okay there
  116. [03:52] Keileon https://www.dropbox.com/s/raduixyr5o6vjmz/SpiralSky.txt
  117. [03:52] Shadow Oh there we go
  118. [03:53] Keileon The part with your girlfriend still kills me btw.
  119. [03:53] Shadow Man I forgot how in-depth those three dreams went
  120. [03:53] Shadow LOL THAT
  121. [03:54] Flimzy Being aware you're being mind controlled. In a dream no less.
  122. [03:54] Flimzy That's quite the thing.
  123. [03:54] Shadow Shadowdreams for you
  124. [03:55] Keileon I like how in your TD dream you actually realized there was no sun
  125. [03:55] Keileon ... This Waltz of the Dead thing
  126. [03:55] Keileon You do realize
  127. [03:56] Shadow dis lore
  128. [03:56] Keileon the /actual/ Nidhoggr basically eats the souls of the dead
  129. [03:56] Shadow lol!
  130. [03:56] Keileon idk maybe we can find relevance there
  131. [03:57] Shadow ...do you remember that other dream? About the frozen hell dimension?
  132. [03:57] Keileon ... Extremely vaguely.
  133. [03:58] Keileon If you have these dream logs send them to me, Spiralsky's the only one I still have
  134. [03:59] -->| Nate (Nate@hidden-jpg.2mp.182.166.IP) has joined #Statplaying
  135. [03:59] =-= Mode #Statplaying +v Nate by ChanServ
  136. [03:59] Keileon "and proceeding to dance with them to some invisible music I couldn't at the time hear"
  137. [03:59] Keileon "invisible music"
  138. [03:59] Nate What
  139. [03:59] Shadow Basically I was in a "highly technological world" that was "descending into absolute chaos" and I was the follower of a very prominent religion there. The followers were instructed to go to a doorway that supposedly lead to "heaven" but it was basically an interdimensional elevator of sorts of that lead to a frozen hell
  140. [03:59] Keileon Hi Nate
  141. [04:00] Keileon OH YES THAT ONE
  142. [04:00] Flimzy interdimensional.... elevator?
  143. [04:00] Flimzy Not a portal? An elevator?
  144. [04:01] Keileon I guess even shadowdreams can be incoherent
  145. [04:01] Nate ^
  146. [04:01] Shadow It was basically an elevator-like room that suddenly reappeared inside that dimension
  147. [04:01] Shadow It was quite cramped
  148. [04:01] Flimzy I'm attempting to imagine fitting elevator music for a techno-cult hell.
  149. [04:01] Shadow LOL.
  150. [04:02] Keileon "15:18:21 <Shadow> I realized that I had been killed many times before, but I just didn't remember it"
  151. [04:02] Keileon This also fits the lore so far
  152. [04:03] Shadow the interconnectivity is so OP
  153. [04:03] Keileon ^
  154. [04:04] Keileon Waltz of the dead, being killed before, parts of your frozen hell dream...
  155. [04:04] Keileon It all can easily be tied back to the Nidhoggr
  156. [04:05] Keileon ... Maybe, following Norse influence slightly, Calemvir destroys stuff before activating the weapon so he can consume the souls of the dead himself and make his own soul more powerful fuel?
  157. [04:06] Shadow ooo
  158. [04:07] Keileon "15:37:12 <Shadow> I also knew that somehow, civilization was in the brink of crumbling. Cue another apocalyptic dream? Cue another apocalyptic dream."
  159. [04:07] Keileon lol 2OP
  160. [04:11] Shadow Rereading the log just made me realize the sheer scale of depth (with some details I filled in myself, granted) these three dreams gave to the plot
  161. [04:11] Shadow It's insane
  162. [04:11] Keileon Yeah I just finished reading
  163. [04:11] Keileon I can easily draw some connections, but I'm not sure if it's a good idea to tie everything to the Nidhoggr
  164. [04:12] Shadow Obviously not
  165. [04:12] Shadow You'd end up making the biggest, BIGGEST Plot-Related Dragon
  166. [04:12] Keileon lel
  167. [04:17] Keileon But yeah
  168. [04:17] Shadow Anyway we progressively learn that Vindrgard is becoming OP as fuck
  169. [04:17] Keileon dat spiralsky
  170. [04:17] Keileon And yes
  171. [04:18] Keileon I'm mostly interested in the Eiclerians
  172. [04:19] Shadow To be honest I'm not sure what they really /are/ or what they even want but they are a plot point in SS
  173. [04:19] Keileon I figured haha
  174. [04:20] Keileon I'm severely resisting the temptation to at least connect the Waltz of the Dead to the Renewal Cycle
  175. [04:21] Nate I'd ask for what was devved but lol reading
  176. [04:22] Keileon We were just rereading the Spiralsky log
  177. [04:22] Shadow We're just connecting Spiralsky to Vindrgard in general
  178. [04:23] Nate o
  179. [04:26] Keileon I have to wonder
  180. [04:26] Keileon What the Vindrite pantheon thinks of the Eiclerians
  181. [04:26] Shadow ^
  182. [04:26] Keileon ... and whether they'd survive the end of a cycle
  183. [04:26] Keileon Because if not
  184. [04:26] Keileon The pantheon wouldn't really /care/
  185. [04:26] Shadow They probably would
  186. [04:26] Keileon And just let Calemvir kill them
  187. [04:27] Keileon Maybe at first they assume the Eiclerians wouldn't survive and don't take any action, but when they do the pantheon kinda goes "welp" and takes a more active role in it
  188. [04:30] Shadow ...In fact, I think the Eiclerians would have risen to that sort of status purely because of their ability to survive the catastrophe, while promising followers safety when this happens.
  189. [04:30] Keileon o that works too
  190. [04:30] Shadow Then they just go "laughing.png" and let everyone die
  191. [04:30] Keileon LOL
  192. [04:33] Keileon Poor Vindrites
  193. [04:33] Dark gonna get some sleep
  194. [04:33] Keileon Would this be worldwide or restricted to one area?
  195. [04:33] Keileon random dark
  196. [04:33] Keileon (night)
  197. [04:33] Dark cranked out a p. big update to Ferona's page so I'm happy
  198. [04:34] Keileon ooo
  199. [04:34] Dark anyway night
  200. [04:34] Keileon ~
  201. [04:34] Shadow I'm thinking it's country/region-restricted, though their influence surely must've reached worldwide at least
  202. [04:35] Keileon Maybe it reaches worldwide influence before the pantheon decides to do anything lel
  203. [04:35] Shadow lollll yeah
