<h1>History</h1>
After a group of boys in her pack killed a human girl, there were some locals of whom took it upon themselves to hunt the pack down. The lodge that had been the home of the pack was burnt to the ground. It was in this fire that many of her pack members lost their lives and none were more dearly missed than her father Ivan who had been the pack alpha.
<p>
<b>Age 19</b><br>
With the pack still without a leader, nobody knew their place or what to do or who to follow. Since the pack could not decide on a leader and agree, the old ways were brought back and a ritual known as "The Ordeal" happened. In this ritual, all adults, male and female are allowed to fight each other but only in their wolf forms. They only fight till first blood, however. So if you got cut, you had to step aside. You had to mark but remain unmarked because first blood could also be last blood due to them being werewolves.
<p>
Something was new about this ordeal, however, for a fiesty female stood up and demanded that females - who had always been kept out of The Ordeal - be allowed to fight. After much deliberation, the snot-nosed female got her way and they decided to let the females fight. The woman who had demanded that females be allowed to fight was soon taken out by one of the males, but regardless, continued to fight - claiming he cheated.
<p>
The fight was intense as brothers fought brothers. Some got out alive, but more often than not.. wolfen forms would hit the ground upon first blood and shift back to human form due to the person being dead. At long last though it was down to a blonde male stranger and Gabriel who fought for the males and it was down to Esme's mother and that same haughty female who had argued. Esme hadn't fought anyone yet, but that all changed when she heard her mother struggling. Infuriated and protective of her mother, Esme attacked the female that was attempting to kill her mother and eliminated her. The female submitted and left to go lick her wounds.
<p>
Everything changed then due to the fact that the pack all went silent. Gabriel had won against the blonde stranger, but now Esme found the pack bowing and exposing their necks to her in submission. Gabriel moved before her and waited for her to accept his dominance over her, but Esme was infuriated. Yet as she looked around she realized that she had been one of the only three females that had fought and in winning over the other females, she had accidentally named herself Gabriel's mate. Stubborn however, she took off through the woods in her wolfen form and off into the night. <i>"I will choose my own mate"</i> she told them. Gabriel chased her through the woods and when his steps silenced, Esme finally went back to her home. <i>to be continued</i>
