- Directions on how to successfully remove pill bottle cache from the gas tank at Carhenge
- By AFCacher, 2012
- 1. Obtain a wire with the consistency and strength of “rebar” tie wire (about .075 inches in diameter).
- 2. Form a fish hook end on the wire.
- 3. With the fish hook “flat” against the gas pipe wall, slide it in past the top of the pill bottle white cap about an inch.
- 4. Turn the wire 90 degrees to move the “hook” tip toward the bottle.
- 5. Hook the fish hook tip into the cap edge and slowly begin pulling the bottle up to the first barrier.
- 6. Continue to pull hard and the bottle will slip past the internal first barrier which is the gas handle nozzle guide.
- 7. Realign the wire fish hook again if necessary and continue to pull the bottle up to the pipe end.
- 8. Ensure the wire is in one of two slots in the pipe end that are used to tighten the gas cap to the pipe.
- 9. Using your wire pulling the bottle up and using your fingers to align the cap into the final hole, work the cap through the
- hole and pull the bottle out of the gas pipe.
- 10. To replace, push the bottle back in past the 2 nd pipe obstruction as you found it.
- 11. it’s a tight fit but it’s not impossible and this lack of clearance makes it a great cache.
- Note: adding "sticky tack" to the end of the hook may assist in cache retrieval
