  1. Cassie Lang tries to call Daddy while he's in space.
  2.
  3. ʀᴏᴄᴋᴇᴛ ʀᴀᴄᴄᴏᴏɴ answers Cassie instead. Who the hell is callin-
  4.
  5. Cassie Lang "Hi Dadd-- ROCKET!!!!" squealed happily.
  6.
  7. ʀᴏᴄᴋᴇᴛ ʀᴀᴄᴄᴏᴏɴ nearly threw the phone at the wall at the sudden loud noise. Put on a smirk, "Heya, kiddo. How are ya?"
  8.
  9. Cassie Lang is very glad that he did not, in fact break her daddy's phone. Would have made endless whale and dying giraffe sounds until someone fixed it. "I'm okay. I just got back from soccer. We decimated the other team! How are you?"
  10.
  11. ʀᴏᴄᴋᴇᴛ ʀᴀᴄᴄᴏᴏɴ didn't know what soccer was, but is supportive, "Yeah-!! Nice job, kiddo-! You kicked those other kids' asse-.. wait, I'm not supposed to say that? Well, screw you! You betta' stop orderin' me around or I'll shove that finger where the sun don't shine, pal-!!" He was talking to someone off-screen and they were obviously correcting him of his language.
  12.
  13. Cassie Lang grinned wide as Rocket was as vocal as Luis, Dave and Kurt were on her aggressive behavior on the field. Giggled as Rocket argued with someone she couldn't see, even as she was fiddling with the gauze wrapped around her head. Cassie might be a lot like her daddy when it came to going overboard on anything they cared about. "Rooocket, what are you up to?" as if they were best friends forever and always.
  14.
  15. ʀᴏᴄᴋᴇᴛ ʀᴀᴄᴄᴏᴏɴ gave a growl towards the mysterious person, waiting until they were gone to return to the conversation, "Oh, nothin'. Just flying this awesome spaceship!" He turned the device around towards the window so that she could actually see space for what it was. Full of stars and planets, "There's aliens up here by the way, they're pretty mean." He was kidding, of course. Unless he was considered an alien? Who knew? He mostly just didn't care.
  16.
  17. Cassie Lang a small series of scratches was given of nails at the bandage, even as she mimicked Rocket's growl to best of her ability. Not to mock him, but in hopes of sounding half as intimidating. It was hard being a girl and small at times. Cassie wished she could make herself big whenever she wanted, just like Daddy. But Daddy wouldn't share his suit with her, much less let her be his actual partner. Not that she didn't like Hope. But she wanted to be her daddy's partner so badly. Stopped mid-growl to "oooooo" in utter amazement as Rocket angled the phone to show her all the stars and planets. "That's so cool! And you get to do that all the time??" excitement and jealously apparent. "You can handle any mean space bully," her confidence over him was staggering, much like it was on the subject of her daddy. There was nothing that neither of them couldn't achieve in her eyes. "Can I come next time?" volume dropping in a conspiring whisper, "I can hide in the cargo hold??"
  18.
  19. ʀᴏᴄᴋᴇᴛ ʀᴀᴄᴄᴏᴏɴ could sense her excitement through the phone, making the Guardian chuckle, attempting to hide it by coughing a few times. The kid had heart. Eagerness and full of interest. He could just see Scott through her, which was.. a good thing? Hopefully, "Most of the time I'm just escapin' from jerks trying to shoot my ship down. The other times I'm saving the Galaxy like a-.." Rocket took the time to flip the device around to check the main hub of the vessel to spot any other life, particularly life that bickered with him a lot. Okay, he was making sure Gamora wasn't around, "Badass." He put a finger to his mouth to let out a quiet 'shhhh' sound. To establish that the word was just a one-time thing. And it would stay between them, "If you're gonna be on the ship next time, you're not stayin' in the cargo hold. Are you kiddin' me? That's where you'll be-!" He turned it around once more to point at the seat beside him. The co-pilot's seat.
  20.
  21. Cassie Lang it wasn't that Cassie just blindly worshiped everything that her dad did or was interested in. But the fact that he was so cool, and never stunted her own imagination or dreams. Aside from not being big enough to be his partner that is. "Why would they shoot you? Are they trying to take your fat loots?" obviously repeating something she had overheard before, giggled when he said the bad word. Hand clamping over her own mouth to keep it secret, as a glance was given to either side of her. It wouldn't be too far fetched that her mom would sneak into her room while Cassie was distracted. She was alone though. "You are a Badass," repeating it like it was an honorific title. That line of thought tumbling away when Rocket indicated she didn't have to hideout at all, and would be able to get a bird's eye view of the flight. "Is that.. shotgun?" not knowing what else to call it, just that she was incredibly excited and would have sold her left foot to be there right now.
  22.
  23. ʀᴏᴄᴋᴇᴛ ʀᴀᴄᴄᴏᴏɴ was quite surprised at the language returned, giving that sadistic smirk when she called him that title, "Thanks, kid. You're a badass, too." He said quietly, listening to her question about the co-pilot's seat, which was Nebula's seat usually. But maybe she would let Cassie have the honor whenever she got on-board, "The best seat in the house. They help me not get shot by the baddies and get all my fat loots taken." Those 'fat loots' usually would stay in a compartment on the ship, all collected together and hidden away. If the ship would get invaded, they would get a taste of Rocket's traps and weaponry set up in that space, "We're gonna get all the goodies when you're flyin' with me, Cass." He suddenly remembered when Scott was talking about a present for his daughter, bringing up 'non-lethal' ideas to the table. But Rocket would disobey that order, probably fixing up one of his smaller blasters, and giving it to the girl. He would keep quiet about this, but decided to reference the gift, "Scott and I are gonna bring you back something from up here. Would you like that?"
  24.
  25. Cassie Lang grin grew ten sizes, nearly splitting her face in half as Rocket returned the sentiment. It was official, she was going to make them matching friendship bracelets now. Even Daddy didn't have one of those. Between now and whenever the Guardians returned with Daddy, she'd have to study up on space and stuff. By watching Star Wars, Star Trek, Firefly, Lost in Space, etc. Just so she knew what things were on a ship, and had to properly interact with aliens. Although Cassie would be as much of an alien to them! "I am the best helper. I get gold stars at school all the time," confiding in him proudly, "Can I fire missiles or lasers at space thugs trying to take our loots?" Buying into the fantasy with the potential to be reality 100%. "I like somethings! What are somethings you can bring back?" flopping onto her stomach, continuing to chat with Rocket even as Antwan was quickly scooting over her unfinished lego castle to her. You thought Scott was going to leave her behind without an overgrown ant to look after her?!
  26.
  27. ʀᴏᴄᴋᴇᴛ ʀᴀᴄᴄᴏᴏɴ "I can't tell you that. It would ruin the surprise, you knucklehead. But just expect somethin' from me. I don't even know what Scott's bringing you, so it's gonna be like that.. uh- Christmas thing when we get back." He had adapted to human celebrations during his time on Earth, yet they never glued to him. Why would they waste units to get meaningless presents to each other? For love? Sappy things like that made him want to vomit, but Cassie was an exception. He would make sure that his present to her was one of the best a person could ever receive. And he barely spent units on people. Except getting Drax more drinks in a bar so he could get kicked out for a good laugh, "Ever see a monster head before? Like, not a cute, but could possible endanger the entire Galaxy if set free? We usually take those down for our pay. Do you think you can handle that, tough guy?" He teased, waiting to see the energetic and prideful side of her take over again.
  28.
  29. Cassie Lang a series of clicks was given to Antwan to express gratitude, fingers of free hand picking up a grey lego piece to put it in place on what was forming a battlement. Lips twisting into a seasoned pout of someone that was consistently being teased by their daddy about surprises, that either were so phenomenal upon receipt or never came because of reasons. "With a tree? And Santa? I can help you write your list," following along easily as Rocket led her around in conversation. At the mention of monster head though, those brown eyes were glued to her screen with the same intensity of Scott when someone mentioned absolutely anything. "Can it still talk? Or spit acid?" morbidly okay with this idea, and taking it to school for show and tell. "Do they have big, sharp teeth? And just go nom nom nom?" making great gnashing gestures with her mouth to show Rocket what she meant.
  30.
  31. ʀᴏᴄᴋᴇᴛ ʀᴀᴄᴄᴏᴏɴ "Eh, maybe if one of your buddies decide to stick their hand in its mouth, maybe." That probably wouldn't happen though, Cassie would keep them in check. Letting them know that her 'space-buddy' told them to be careful around the giant monster head she brought in for show-and-tell. He looked over to spot her making faces into her side's camera, making Rocket burst out laughing. For real, this time. No faking, "Whew, kid. I haven't laughed like that since I bit Mantis for petting me while I was sleeping." He started to wipe his eyes of tears that decided to make their way out. When he laughed, he laughed hard. And he probably wouldn't stop for the most of the time. Example being telling Drax a secret about Scott. Every time they saw each other, they had a decent laugh with one another. The only time they weren't screaming at each other, "So I expect you to let your friends know that they shouldn't mess with it. I'm trusting you, co-pilot."
  32.
  33. Cassie Lang there was a lot of exaggerated head movement as Cassie nodded to show she understood that it was important not to let the severed head eat anyone. Maybe it would be okay with peanut butter and jelly sandwiches? Giggled in reply to Rocket's barking laughter, enjoying the sound and wondering if she was funnier than her daddy. Or just as good with impersonations. At the use of her new title however, she grew quite solemn, as if feeling the weight of responsibility from all the hundreds and thousands and millions miles away that Rocket must have been by then. "I won't let you down, Captain," index and middle fingers tapping temple in a respectful salute. Afterwards she'd angle her phone to show the lego masterpiece she was working on (which was going to eventually end up in the backyard once her Daddy used his particles on it. Antwan deserved a castle for being the best ant. "Not as cool as space. But this is what I'm doing.."
  34.
  35. ʀᴏᴄᴋᴇᴛ ʀᴀᴄᴄᴏᴏɴ looked at the Lego set and gave an utterly dumbfounded look. It was impressive. Not that he knew that there was instructions to build what the set was desired to look at, "Hey..- That's pretty good, kid. Jesus, you could probably build your own ship if you wanted to-!" He exclaimed, pointing his free hand at the creation in front of him. Rocket didn't know what kinds of things kids were into except needing help from their parents to walk. Little runts could walk on their own, not relying on someone to do it for you. But now he was getting sidetracked. There was important Lego work to be seen. Rocket watched as some finishing pieces were being put onto the 'masterpiece', his eyes moving along with her hand, the set becoming more with each second, "Your dad says you've been fixing work on your cartwheel, squirt? How's that comin' along?" Deep glares at Nebula. You tell anyone about this--
  36.
  37. Cassie Lang giggled behind palm as Rocket seemed to think her legos were equally as cool as his space ship, okay maybe not as equal but better than a shoe or something. "Really? You think so?" latching onto the idea, which as just as appetizing as being big enough to be her daddy's partner or Rocket's co-pilot. "If I design one, and it got built, would you fly it?" angling the phone back towards her face to see her new best friend's face. And truth be told, much like her dad, Cassie had thrown out the instructions of her legos before ever opening the plastic packages. Half the time they bought legos just for her to have them, and she created whatever came to mind. The castle was actually supposed to be part of a large NYC replica, but was being improved upon. "We could have a lot of booms?" making the bomb gesture with her hand. "And go whooooosh," hand flattening to snake past the screen quickly. "And ptt ptt ptt ptt," finger gunning at imaginary enemies. "And uh.. hide!" drawing her blanket overhead to effectively conceal herself with the glow of illuminated screen.
  38.
  39. ʀᴏᴄᴋᴇᴛ ʀᴀᴄᴄᴏᴏɴ looked right into the camera, again wearing his usual smirk, "I know so." He listened to her ramble about ships and construction of a possible Lego spaceship. It was a crazy idea, but he was a crazy pilot. If anyone else would've came up to him with the idea of a space-vessel made of plastic bricks, he would've spit in their face and called them crazy, but for Cassie, anything would become reality, "Of course I would fly it, are you crazy? I can fly anything." He bragged, beating his chest with a hand like he usually would with Groot. With him mimicking the motion, "Lots of booms, pally. We're never gonna hide, though." Badasses never hide.
  40.
  41. Cassie Lang blinked in obvious awe at Rocket's claims. He didn't have to worry though, if she got to design a ship it wouldn't be made out of legos. She'd find something tough and sleek, because it had to be.. sexy right? That was a term she had overheard Luis use with her dad when they were talking about a sport's car. Cassie assumed that meant cool / awesome or something. Nothing like the birds and bees talk they had at school. Grinning once again as he promised a lot of explosions. "What if we were hiding so we could surprise them?" curious as this seemed a good tactic in movies. "And then take THEIR loot?"
