  1. Garland's notes on the mages... Apart from what was previously mentioned, it can be summed up around thus:
  2.
  3. "They seem to be flawed creations of a flawed creation. He prides in his ability to create what he calls 'dolls' as if they were mere playthings. As if his own life meant any more than theirs. He has imperfectly recreated himself in them, lording like a vain god over his subjects. How petty he is. He has also placed further limiters on their power which may have also affected their lifespan to be a fraction of his. Or perhaps he simply failed to recreate the intricate systems I put into place on himself, like a simple man trying to copy a professional concrete dam by boarding a river with rotten planks and loose nails. Either way, from my observations their lifespan is approximately one to two years - a mere hundredth of any one genome. They do not show signs of aging, either - their cells simply stop dividing, and their bodies, rejecting the life-giving energies of the planet's crystal, cease to move. They stop. And then they begin to decompose.
  4.
  5. In Kuja's case, a simple injection of a biological agent designed to break down the limiter gene in his body would completely undo his lifespan limitation and allow Gaia to rejuvenate his body, but his creations are so base, so touched by arcane magicks and other superstitious unneeded nonsense, that I could not say for sure if the same would work for one of his so-called dolls. To be frank, I'm not sure what, with his powers, that he did differently. I would need to study one to be entirely sure, whether they still possess a limiter gene or if they simply lack something entirely that accomplishes the same effect (but regardless, I am certain that the nature of their demise is identical to what I planned for Kuja). They are interesting, regardless, and pose no threat to my plans. I may yet incorporate them into my research. It may be worth attempting to synthesize an agent to undo his mistakes, but at present time there is no urgent need of such a compound.
  6.
  7. In the case that I do feel the need to do this; this information becomes necessary in the future for Mikoto or those succeeding her, or, heaven forbid, I decide to spare Kuja, the attached file contains diagrams and information regarding the biological differences between Kuja and other genomes, and the limiter gene that I created. A simple method of checking whether or not a treatment was successful is to apply energy from Gaia's life stream to one when they are wounded. Normal living creatures will be healed immediately. The ones with artificially short lifespans, such at Kuja, will heal not at all. Also included is a map of known locations where this energy may be tapped. If medical treatment provides no headway, consider other methods to alleviate condition(forced acceptance of Gaian energy may be possible)."
