  3. [10:55] <@TenMihara|GM> 3 When last we left our group of disfunctional misfits, it was in the midst of a catastrophe. While investigating a settlement that had gone dark for DJ P0N-3, the group discovered that it was no regular feat of the wasteland. It was murder. Mass murder most malicious. Everypony in the settlement of Porcelain Oasis had died nearly simultaneously of cardiac arrest.
  4. [10:57] <@TenMihara|GM> 3 This caused a schism in the group for two major reasons, the first of which was Primer. Oasis had been her home as young orphan, and had housed her mentor. Stacked on top of her other trauma, she began to buckle. Keen meanwhile was hellbent on finding and punishing those responsible, to the point of putting his own life in jeopardy
  5. [10:58] <@TenMihara|GM> 3 We join them the following morning, after what was more or less an all around burnout. Will they piece themselves together, or will this be their undoing?
  6. 07[11:00] * @Wraith` has drank his whiskey over the night. He felt... well... pretty much the same as he always did. Rotted, muddled, and a severe case of self-loathing. He looks over the slumbering mares and... persumably stallion? He wondered how his non-ghoul companion was faring, being up all night.
  7. 07[11:01] * @Wraith` didn't see Keen or Fire_Lily ever come actually. Well... wasn't that just Prime... r.
  8. 15[11:01] * +Karina is still curled up around Primer as best as she can, sleeping uneasily.
  9. 07[11:01] * +Desert_Storm , through sheer force of will, managed to stay up through the night in a zen like trance by the window. She rolled her shoulders a bit and adjusted her rifle stock's position on her shoulder. Long nights only meant shorter days...
  10. 07[11:02] * +Keen has been lying there for the last few hours, looking up at the dilapidating ceiling with a glassy look in his eyes. He's still down in the town. He's still breathing somehow. Blood was crusted onto the floor, and he was having hallucinations. Fun.

  13. 07[11:04] * +Fire_Lily has been with Keen all night. She didn't want to leave him alone, and at some point she'd ended up dozing off.
  14. 07[11:05] * +Primer had an uneasy sleep, and finally started awake with a yelp and she rolls away from Karinabefore realising where she was and who had kept her company throughout the night.
  15. 07[11:05] * @Wraith` is sitting in a corner, fairly close to Primer when he jerks at the yelping. Looking over at the two mares that were sleeping together (giggity) he blinks, then relaxed and asks quietly, "You uh.. alright?"
  16. 15[11:06] * +Karina jerks awake when Primer yelps and rolls away, instinctively bringing a leg up to protect her face, expecting Primer to not yet realize where she was.

  19. 07[11:07] * +Primer looks around uneasily and nods slowly at the question from Wraith. She was sitting up, and looking lost and not quite there.
  20. 15[11:08] * +Karina blinks and slowly puts her leg back down as she isn't getting kicked. She looks around the room at Storm and Wraith before settling back on looking at Primer. "Morning..."
  21. 07[11:11] * +Desert_Storm looks back at the jumpy ponies and finally takes her rifle out of the window. Time to power nap while everyone wakes up themselves. She lays down on something close to the window and kicks back.
  22. 07[11:11] * @Wraith` gets up and stretches for a moment before he feels like he's pulled something and he gives a sharp gasp and slight graveled whinny. Ohh his shoulder ached... probably from being a nearly 190 year old trotting corpse... rotating his shoulder, he groans slightly, the forces his joint back into place, hissing loudly at the ache.
  23. 07[11:11] * +Primer looks down on the floor and mutters something to the effect of: "Morning..."
  24. 07[11:12] * +Keen lifted his head. Lily. Shit, what was she doing here? He gave her a sleepy little nudge. "Go. Go. Go to them. Go."
  25. 07[11:15] * @Wraith` gives a low sigh and says, "So... Keen and Fire_Lily never came back in the night. I watched their tags with our new toys and made sure they didn't disappear on us." Stretching some more, he adds, "While you all eat, drink, and get ready, I'll go drag his sorry flank back here."
  26. 07[11:15] * +Fire_Lily looks toward Keen in a sleepy haze. Did he say something? She pulls herself a little closer to him. Just a little longer... not ready to wake up yet.
  27. 15[11:16] * +Karina keeps looking at Primer. "So... how did you sleep...?" She takes another quick look around, trying to hold back a yawn, looking for Keen.
  28. 07[11:16] * +Keen weakly prodded her again. "Go. What are you doing here. Go. I'll be fine. Go."
  29. 07[11:18] * +Desert_Storm snores softly in the corner. She'd earned a little nap, or at least... she thought she did.
  30. 07[11:18] * +Primer nod and stands up. "I'll..." She'd what? Go get them? Oh how well that'd go... "I slept like shit..." Having your legs pulled off was bad enough, but occationally it hadn't been just Crankshaft in there... there had been, other things in that surgical suite.

  32. 07[11:19] * @Wraith` looks at the mares in the room for a moment, then trots out of the building and heads for the sewers that Keen and Fire_Lily were still at.
  33. 07[11:20] * +Primer sits back down and hangs her head.
  34. 07[11:21] * +Fire_Lily mumbles, "Stoppit... 'm tired..."
  35. 15[11:22] * +Karina slowly works her way up to a sitting position. "Sorry, Primer."
  36. 07[11:24] * +Keen growled a little bit. Cranky from lack of sleep was the least of it. "Lily. Lily. Come on. Wake up."
  37. 07[11:25] * +Primer blinks. "For what?"

  40. [11:26] <@TenMihara|GM> 3 Wraith` takes the way into sewers and, after a few minutes of venturing down the now cleared tunnel, reemerges into Oasis. From where he is, he can spy Keen and Lily, the former still looking like she's snoozing, in the central area of the lowest level of the town
  41. 07[11:27] * @Wraith` looks at the two other companions, then makes his way down to them and stands over the duo. He just looks at the two wordlessly until he asks, "Having fun?"
  42. 15[11:27] * +Karina hoofs at the floor a bit. "Not rescuing you in time, I guess... And then not slowing down and causing all this mess."

  46. 07[11:29] * +Fire_Lily is kinda feeling confused. She didn't get much sleep at all; she'd stayed up as long as she could manage, waiting for Keen. All she can manage to say in response to both Keen and Wraith is a very quiet and sleepy-sounding "...Huh?"
  47. 04[11:30] * +Primer lies down, looking worn. "Kar, unless you did it on purpose, you have nothing to feel sorry about."
  48. 07[11:30] * +Keen just looks at Wraith for a little while, hopeless, numb eyes meeting his. And then he looked back up at his ceiling.
  49. 07[11:31] * @Wraith` cocks his head for a moment then groans slightly and says, "Come on. Get up. You'll have all the time in the world to mope above ground. I think we're going to take a little R&R soon anyway."
  50. 07[11:32] * +Desert_Storm snoozes, the murmurs of the others echoing around in her dreams.
  51. 15[11:33] * +Karina rubs her face with a fetlock. "A-alright... Maybe you'll get better sleep tonight."
  52. 07[11:36] * +Fire_Lily tries to get up. It takes her aaaages, and at one point her rear legs decide to stop cooperating, so she ends up sitting instead.
  53. 07[11:36] * +Primer nods. "M-maybe..." She started rooting in her saddlebags for a tin of food and a bottle of water.
  54. 07[11:36] * +Keen gets up shakily. He fought back that familiar acid in his throat. He tried to forget about what happened. Tried to forget that more ponies are going to die. And it was his fault.
  55. 07[11:38] * @Wraith` looks Keen over for a moment, then speaks, "We should talk later. For now, let's move." He then turns and begins to slowly make his way towards the surface... checking to see if would be followed.
  56. 07[11:41] * +Keen stumbles on each step he takes for a while. "G-Gotta. Got to do something. I have to." Why can't you just fucking stop? You've never helped a soul by trying. Why are you going to start now?
  57. 15[11:43] * +Karina sits there and watches Primer, trying to figure out some way she can help.
  58. 07[11:43] * +Fire_Lily tries this 'standing up' thing again. This time it doesn't take quite as long, and she actually manages to get all four legs to cooperate, even if a little wobbly.
  59. 07[11:43] * @Wraith` stops and looks at Keen. Shit... this really tore him up. There was death everywhere, everyday... even Primer had made peace with this place, why didn't he? With a fairly stern tone, the ghoul speaks, "Keen. Let it go."
  60. 07[11:46] * +Keen wobbles slightly and chuckles. "... I really wish I could." What was the definition of insanity? Doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results? Huh. Sounds familiar.
  61. 07[11:46] * +Desert_Storm opens an eye and turns slightly. "A few nights back ho- In the appartment will do us all good, Primer."
  62. 07[11:47] * +Primer nods mutely as she fights down some stale cooked carrots. She did note the slipup however.
  63. 07[11:48] * +Fire_Lily takes a few shaky steps. It takes forever. She needs to stop and yawn at one point, too.
  64. 07[11:49] * @Wraith` frowns slightly, then looks at Fire_Lily and notices she's having some issues moving. He then asks, "You need to hitch a ride there, little lady?"
  65. 04[11:49] * +Desert_Storm frowns and shakes off her ten-minute nap. She wasn't going to get much rest any way. She goes over and sits down near Primer and Kar, digging into a can of carrots too.
  66. 07[11:49] * +Fire_Lily looks up at the voice. She's not sure what it said. "...Huh?"
  67. 07[11:50] * @Wraith` stops, then trots up to Fire_Lily and speaks, "Do you want me to carry you?"
  68. 07[11:52] * +Fire_Lily thinks for a moment to process that. "Uhh... yeah..."
  69. 07[11:53] * @Wraith` scoops up the little filly. Teehee she was like carrying a furry little bundle of softness! Then proceeds back up to the surface from the ghost town, making sure Keen was behind them.
  70. 07[11:56] * +Desert_Storm takes a satisfying bite of carrot. "So..."
  71. 07[11:56] * +Fire_Lily tries not to fall asleep again. She manages to make it most of the way but eventually she starts to doze off.
  72. 07[11:58] * +Primer doesnt look up from her nomming. "Yeah?"
  73. 07[11:59] * +Keen manages to pull off walking. Somehow. He doesn't quite know why he's following Wraith. Then again, when did reason become part of what he did regularly?
  74. 04[11:59] <@TenMihara|GM> 3 Wraith` eventually leads Keen and carries Lily back up to meet with Karina, Primer and Storm in the Four Stars Stations
  75. 07[12:01] * +Desert_Storm puts down her carrots and gives her glasses a quick shine. "I'm curious... as to why you don't seem to care very much about your home."
  76. 07[12:01] * +Keen wanders his weary flanks into the station. His ear was still shot. Fine movement was right out of the question.
  77. 07[12:01] * @Wraith` figures it's better that Keen followed willingly, rather than being hog-tied and dragged back. Would the ghoul have done that too? Oh yeah. As they reenter the station, he gently and carefully puts Fire_Lily on the bed. He then takes a vigil staring at the entrance of the station, waiting for his group to decide what to do next.
  78. 07[12:02] * +Primer gives Desert a 'look'. "I'm an orphan... do you have any idea how fucking awful life is for orphans in the wasteland?"
  79. [12:03] <@TenMihara|GM> 3 There is still an old terminal on the desk
  80. 07[12:03] * +Desert_Storm shrugs. She really didn't. "No."
  81. 07[12:05] * +Keen looks at the terminal. Oh, sure. He might as well. He didn't want to confront Primer again. She won that fucking argument, and now whatever made the heart attacks happen was free to keep doing it. He might as well hack this terminal to find out what happened here to stall for time.
  82. 07[12:05] * +Fire_Lily sprawls out when she's placed on the bed. She'll gladly get a little more rest...
  83. 07[12:06] * +Primer returns her attention on her meal, ignoring Keen. "Then take Lily as an example."
  84. 07[12:09] * +Desert_Storm picks up the carrots again. "I don't suppose you ever found out what happened to them, your parents, I mean."
  85. 07[12:10] * +Primer sighs. "No... not really. I can remember something that I think is my mom, singing me to sleep, but that's about it."
  86. 07[12:11] * +Desert_Storm sighs too. "Yeah... I'm sorry to hear that."
  87. 07[12:13] * +Primer shrugs. "Don't worry about it, got over it a long time ago..." About the same time she stopped preforming blowjobs for caps.
  88. 07[12:14] * @Wraith` checks his Pipbuck and realizes... he has EFS... so he sits near the mares eating food and faces towards the entrance, occassionally checking the EFS to ensure they remained safe... relatively safe... he looks the mares over as they speak, not speaking anything for the moment.
  89. [12:15] <@TenMihara|GM> 3 The terminal that Keen finds on the desk easily yields to his skills even in his current state. Mostly it's just a list of schedules and inter-office communications and ticket fares. However, there's one file hiding away with an odd encryption on it. You've seen it before, exactly once
  90. 07[12:16] * @Wraith` looks at Primer and asks, "When did you meet your mentor?"
  91. 04[12:16] * +Keen blinks. Hm. "Karina. Come here."
  92. 07[12:16] * +Primer looks up at Wraith. "When I was about... I dunno, thirteen? Maybe fourteen."
  93. 07[12:18] * +Desert_Storm munches a carrot, chewing slowly, thinking. "You know... uh... My-" she deflates a little. Maybe later. "...He seemed... Crazy."
  94. 07[12:18] * @Wraith` winces very slightly and responds, "Oh.. ouch.. I'm sorry to hear." Shifting slightly in his spot he looks at Desert_Storm and squints a little, asking, "What was that?"
  95. 07[12:20] * +Keen pauses for a moment in his decrypting process. Crazy. Yup. That's me.
  96. 07[12:21] * +Desert_Storm blinks, already forgetting that she said something. "I said... He seemed a little paranoid."

  106. 07[12:26] * +Desert_Storm nods. She's feeling a little somber all of a sudden.
  107. 07[12:26] * +Primer nods. "Well, yes. And we are talking about a place that is very hard to defend by pony power alone... should really try and clear the place of mines so that nopony walks into one by mistake."
  108. 07[12:27] * +Fire_Lily is still dozing.
  109. 07[12:27] * @Wraith` looks at Desert_Storm for a moment then asks, "What were you talking about before? You said something about 'Your something'?"
  110. 15[12:27] * +Karina gives Keen a look then finally gets up and walks over to him. "What?"
  111. 07[12:28] * +Keen lefts her leg and begins to fiddle with her Pipbuck given her permission. "The file encryption. It's the same on the file we picked up a while ago."
  112. 07[12:28] * +Desert_Storm waves a hoof in the air. "Nothing, really."
  113. 15[12:29] * +Karina "What?"
  114. 04[12:31] * +Keen rubs his temples. "Kar, the thing you said you were looking for?" Was it worth it? "Did you ever find what it was?" He said, splicing together the scrolls so that he could undo the encryption.
  115. 04[12:33] * @Wraith` squints at Desert_Storm for a moment... then shrugs. He gives Karina and Keen a glance for a moment, then looks back to the two mares before him, then looks at Primer... words of comfort... should he attempt it? He was so bad at offering words of comfort... watch him fail miserably! Giving a slight sigh, he speaks in his most sympathetic tone, "Robo- Primer. You're a... trooper." Oh that was good...
  116. 15[12:34] * +Karina "It's in a box. With a lock. Need to have Lily open it, I don't want to risk jamming it or trying to break it with a rock."
  117. 04[12:34] <@TenMihara|GM> 3 As Keen downloads the two halves of the file form Karina's Pipbuck and the terminal in front of him, the file turns out to be an old audio recording. It's somewhat staticy, but most of it can be understood.
  118. 07[12:34] * +Primer sighs and stashes her empty bottle and tin. "Thanks Wraith."
  119. [12:35] <+Keen> "Are you sure it's a thing and not this?" Click.
  120. [12:35] <@TenMihara|GM> 3 "This is station 12 calling station 26. Do not let the 403 Southbound Luna Line train depart. I just got an emergency notification from the MoM. They have reason to believe zebras have infiltrated the monorail lines and are using them to distribute weapons. Repeat: DO NOT LET the 403 South Bound Luna depart!"
  121. 07[12:36] * @Wraith` rubs the back of his head with a hoof. Stupid old fool... you're failing hard. Re-doubling his efforts, he speaks up again, "No, really. I mean it. I uhh... I had a pretty good foal-hood... well by wasteland standards for sure. I've seen the Gates of Tartarus and lived to tell about it... but... growing up an orphan in the wastes is a whole slew of shit I couldn't even imagine being in.. and you actually managed to pull through
  122. 07[12:36] * +Desert_Storm gets up and tosses her can in a trash can. "He's right, Primer. If it were me, I would have quit a long time ago. But you kept going. I respect that, and I wanted-" She halts as the recording plays.

  124. [12:37] <@TenMihara|GM> 3 The file is dated the day of the apocalypse
  125. 15[12:38] * +Karina blinks at the recording plays. "No... pretty sure it's a thing."
  126. 07[12:39] * +Primer rubs at the back of her neck and nods. "Thanks guys..." She was still emotionally drained and feeling like five months sleep would be a good start... but thankful nevertheless.
  127. 07[12:40] * +Keen has a feeling of horror overcome him. Well, at least this one wasn't his fault. Although, that didn't make him feel better. "... Where did the DJ say the rangers were going?"
  128. 07[12:40] * @Wraith` isn't psychic... but is sure Keen would find some way to pin this scenario on himself.
  129. 15[12:42] * +Karina "I'm going to go out on a limb and say that you should ask yourself that, since you're the one that met him."
  130. 07[12:42] * +Desert_Storm is suddnely a lot more somber than she already was. So... that's how it happened... She needed to sit down and let that... digest.
  131. 07[12:46] * +Keen leaves the building with more purpose and urgency and started to send a message. "Where are the rangers now?"
  132. 15[12:47] * +Karina "Bucklyn, Keen. Who cares?"
  133. 04[12:47] * @Wraith` blinks and looks at Karina and asks, "What the fuck?"
  134. 15[12:47] * +Karina looks at Wraith`. "What?"
  135. 07[12:47] * +Primer 's eyes blaze. Oh no you don't. "Keen, get your feathered ass back here!"
  136. 07[12:48] * @Wraith` asks, "What is he so excited about?"
  137. 04[12:48] * +Keen looks very scared at Kar. "I care. Where the hell is 403 Southbound Luna Line?"
  138. 07[12:48] * +Desert_Storm sits down somewhere near Lily, thinking. You should stop doing that Desert. Bad things happen when you dwell on stuff for too long.
  139. 15[12:48] * +Karina "How should I know?! And I have no physical way to make him not go."

  141. 15[12:51] * +Karina looks back at Keen. "We're -on- the Luna line."
  142. 07[12:52] * +Fire_Lily tosses a bit in her sleep.
  143. 07[12:55] * +Keen is slightly embarrassed. "I never took the train." He mentions. "I mean, I'm starting to feel very worried that, since they retreated from this place so quickly, they might've found what this weapon cache was."
  144. 07[12:56] * +Keen "The Rangers. The guys with the scary armor and the..." He starts gesturing what he imagined power armor felt like.
  145. 07[12:56] * @Wraith` blinks and responds, "They're fucking hoarders with huge guns already... so what if they found the cache?"
  146. 07[12:57] * +Keen glares at Wraith. "They might have found something a bit bigger than guns, Wraith.
  147. 15[12:58] * +Karina blinks and starts to slowly smile. "Weapons cache... -zebra- weapons cache..." She blinks again and shakes her head. "No, Keen. We're going back to the apartment, not out on another mad dash."
  148. 07[12:58] * +Primer just slumps down and lies there until they have to go. She was -so- played out.
  149. 07[12:58] * @Wraith` rolls his eyes and replies, "Like what? A fucking megaspell? What do you think they're going to do with it? Use it? And on who?"

  152. 07[13:02] * +Keen folds his legs. "They don't /have/ to use it to hold power over anyone they want, Wraith. If you put together a town, a real town, what's to stop them from threatening us with the spell for us to give them whatever they want?"
  153. 15[13:04] * +Karina shrugs. "Stables survived bombs once. Door's broke, but fix it and I don't see why it couldn't survive another, though." She turns around and walks back over to Primer. "Hey, you ready to go?"
  154. 15[13:05] * +Karina "And... could you wake Lily? I have a lock I'd like her to see, but I don't think she likes me."
  155. 04[13:05] * @Wraith` blinks and says, "Pretty much what she said." he refers to Karina, then adds, "Right now, it sounds like you all need some R&R anyway, so we'll decide what to do after that, alright?" he then raises an eyebrow to the zebra and asks, "She doesn't?"
  156. 04[13:06] * +Primer looks up at Karina and nods silently, then she stands up and re-attaches her battle saddle. After that's done, Primer goes over to Fire_Lily and gently shakes her. "Sister, wake up."
  157. 15[13:07] * +Karina looks at Wraith` and shrugs a bit.
  158. 07[13:07] * @Wraith` decides he really doesn't give two shits about that. Getting up he asks, "So... we're heading back to this.. where again?"
  159. 15[13:08] * +Karina "A whole apartment building that we kinda... stole."
  160. 07[13:08] * @Wraith` blinks, then gives a slight smirk and asks, "Kinda stole?"
  161. 07[13:09] * +Fire_Lily mumbles something inaudible, and blinks sleepily. She looks to Primer, looking a little confused
  162. 07[13:10] * +Primer smiles gently at Lily. "We're ready to head home. Come on, you can sleep on my back."
  163. 15[13:10] * +Karina "We got captured by some slavers next to that place... then killed them all and set up shop in their old base."
  164. 07[13:12] * +Fire_Lily nods slightly. "...okay..."
  165. 04[13:12] * @Wraith` looks at Karina with a look of slight disbelief and says, "I see... Good thing they didn't have any business partners or nothing then huh?"

After that, they make their way back through the city to the appartment that they made their home. It's early evening when they arrive.

Ehh... maybe some reconnaissance work first... he makes his way towards them to get within better hearing range... intent on listening to what they had to say.

  257. 07[14:02] * +Keen shuffles in place a bit, his ear still deaf. At least his equilibrium wasn't shot anymore. He could trot without falling on himself like a newborn foal. "... I'm noticing something terribly wrong with the way things are. We've started to try to gain power instead of trying to help ponies. Have you noticed this?"

I uh.." oh there were the butterflies again... feeling like this was so awkward... it was such a long time since he felt like a school-colt. Clearing his throat slightly he continues, "I came back to-o see h-how you were doing?"

Looking at her glowing form.. without her cloak was beyond words for him. She was beautiful in a way that only he percieved. Shaking his head he answers, "No, just me."

Nodding slightly with excitement, he procures the bent 9-iron and gives it to the ghoulette saying, "I couldn't find any golf balls yet, but I'm still looking." he then pulls out the clumps of soil and asks, "I don't know if you still have a garden, but... Incase you were interested, this should help get you started... once I find some seeds."

This is going to sound strange but.. that's why I'm with this group. They.. well one of them wants to... make a town or something.. help out the wastes."

Actual decent wastelanders /barely/ get by and they have to work hard for their scraps. What makes you think a raider won't take the easier way out even if he's given the alternative?"
  545. 07[17:03] * +Keen looks off to the side. "... I don't want to kill anyone. I never wanted to kill anyone. That hasn't stopped."
  546. 07[17:05] * @Wraith` is done arguing and gets up saying, "Yeah I didn't want to see the world end and turn into a walking fucking corpse neither, but guess what, that's fucking life now. Killing is part of life now. If you want to live and actually get anything done, you're going to have to do it, because all the alternatives that I know you're thinking of, are gone all of them."
  547. 07[17:06] * +Keen looks up to Wraith with a bit of scorn. "... You know, I think it's that kind of thinking that prevents the wasteland from ever healing."

But news flash, you're going to have to defend yourself." he trots out of the room and goes into an unoccupied room, shutting the door.
