  6. Noob guide to Bloc
  7.
  8. Game mechanics:
  9. Q: How long is a turn?
  10. A: 12 hours. Each turn changes at 1am/1pm EST. Ignore whatever it says at the bottom of the page, it's wrong. (fuck rumsod, the developer of the game, lol)
  11.
  12. Q: what do I do every turn?
  13. A:
  14. 1) conscripted 2x this turn (if you have too many troops, just send 10k to someone who needs it, message us to find out who that is. you're wasting manpower if you're at untapped and you don't conscript twice. never waste manpower. if you can't conscript, it's probably because your growth is too low. You can't conscript at -2 or below in growth. you'll need to either use great leap forward or encourage foreign investment to raise it high enough to conscript)
  15. 2) labor discipline once per turn (double factory output, but don't click it if you have no factories)
  16. 3) good enough stability so you don't get reset
  17. 4) your reputation is good so you don't get reset
  18. 5) not fucked up approval, (green or white is okay)
  19. 6) make sure you got enough rm/oil to keep your factories going (if you have any)
  20. 7) build more mines/wells/factories if you can, send off extra resources to people that could use it
  21.
  22. Economic:
  23. Regarding GDP:
  24. lower GDP = better, it keeps you out of range from big guys. You will want to attack the lowest GDP people so your GDP increases the least possible when you win (see warfare). You can attack people as low as 0.75*YourGDP, and as high as 2*YourGDP. People who can attack you include people YourGDP/2 up until YourGDP/0.75.
  25. Example: if your current GDP is at 400, you can ONLY attack people from 300 to 800 GDP, but not 299 (or lower) and not 801 (or higher)
  26. People who can attack you range from 200 (=400/2) to 533 (=400/0.75).
  27. That being said, higher GDP = higher budget caps, although it's insignificant. Resources will get you more $ than having a high GDP ever will, and having a high GDP makes you very vulnerable to being attacked, so don't inflate it like a noob.
  28.
  29. What's the best economic system?
  30. Depends on what you want to do:
  31. Free market (US alignment points awarded per turn): tl;dr costs more to increase growth, costs research instead of RM to make QoL go up
  32. lowest fees on the free market, can't Great Leap Forward to increase growth. Can't build hospitals, must use research to research vaccines instead
  33. Central planning (Soviet alignment points awarded per turn): tl;dr can Great Leap Forward, can build hospitals (better than researching vaccines)
  34. Mixed (no points awarded per turn): tl;dr fees on the market between free market and central planning
  35. Note that certain policies may change your economic system (ex. feeding your ppl lots of food will push you towards a central planning economy, encouraging foreign investment pushes you towards the free market)
  36.
  37. Best political system:
  38. #1 Military Junta - free airplanes, free training, free chem development
  39. #2 One Party State - free boost to manpower
  40.
  41. Stability:
  42. Don't let your stability go less than 11%. If you do, there's a 50% chance you will get stability reset (reduces army size by 25%, fucks your approval/rep up)
  43. In additon:
  44. 80%-100%: +2 growth/turn
  45. 50%-80%: +1 growth/turn
  46. 20%-50%: -1 growth/turn
  47. 0%-20%: -2 growth/turn
  48.
  49. How many wells/mines/factories do I build?
  50. Oil: Don't build more wells than you have oil reserves. You start out with 0 reserves, you must prospect to find reserves. Each turn, your wells will take oil out of your reserves, and your reserves will be lowered. At some point it won't make sense (read: won't be cost efficient) to build wells or to prospect so don't splurge on wells, just make as many as you "need" unless you're in the middle east
  51.
  52. Mines: As many as you can, more is always better. You won't ever stop making RM.
  53. Factories: all of them, it's cheaper in asia too.
  54.
  55. Each mine will make 1rm/turn, each well will withdraw 1 oil from your reserves/turn, each factory will take 1 oil and 1 rm to make 1MG/turn.
  56. You should be clicking labour discipline each turn (unless the market fucks up or something and everything crashes). This will double the MG you make (at the cost of a little bit more rm and oil - the page will tell you how much it costs)
  57. How to tell if it's worth labour disciplining each turn?
  58. ex. market prices are as follows:
  59.
  60. What do I have to know about reputation as a noob?
  61. Green = good, red = bad.
  62. Don't let your nation go below Pariah. (the least bad out of the reds)
  63. Axis of Evil (lowest rep) has a 50% chance of resetting your country (destroys your entire airforce, puts your troops to 10k)
  64. Mad Dog (2nd lowest rep) has a 10% of doing ^
  65.
  66. Green levels will give you + reputation points while red ones will subtract reputation points from both alignments.
  67.
  68. Everything you need to know about wars as a noob:
  69.
  70. Factors in deciding who wins wars: airforce, tech, troop sizes, training, importance in that specific order.
  71. Airforce is super important, gives your army a significant advantage if you have higher levels than your opponent.
  72. If you have 4 levels of airforce above your enemy you can take his planes out without losing any of yours.
  73. Troop sizes: larger troop sizes = more winning, if you're at 20k don't attack someone at 40k unless you have a much higher airforce level and much higher tech levels.
  74. Training: the specific number in your training level matters. If everything else is equal, someone at 100% training will win against someone at 80% training even though they're both elite.
  75. You lose tech (weapons) every time you attack with more than 20k soldiers. You lose 1 weapon per 20k troops that you have. (that's why it's best to be at 39k, 59k, 79k etc troops because it costs 1 more weapon the second you reach 40/60/80k per attack)
  76.
  77. Don't wardec people in alliances we have a pact with. The exception is that only if they haven't been on for >=60 hours. Don't wardec a guy in an alliance we don't have pacts with unless you are SURE you'll win even if they support the guy you're attacking.
  78.
  79. Not sure if you should wardec someone? Message us (link at the top of this document) before you do it. Always better to ask if you're good to attack someone than to fuck up alliances or your nation cus of your newbness. We won't be mad at you for playing it safe.
  80.
  81. When you win a war: you gain 1/6th of their land, 1/6th of their oil reserves, 1/6th of their GDP, 1/2 of all the resources they have (rm/oil/mg)
  82. You will win a war if you attack someone at 5k or less troops.
  83.
  84. You can only attack ppl adjacent to you. Only people adjacent to you can attack you. You can get past this restriction if you have more than 51 ships. (don't worry about this until much, much later, factories are probably much more important to you if you're reading this)
  85.
  86. See GDP for rules of warfare, including who you can attack/who you can't attack based on your GDP.
  87.
  88. Research: you get research points for every 10% literacy you have. At turn change, if you have >50% literacy, it will decrease by 3%. If you have <50% literacy, it will decrease by 1%. Starting out, it's better to keep it between 41-49% (cost efficiency yee)
  89.
  90. I got uranium! wat do¿
  91. Contact an officer or yell in our skype chat we'll give you specific instructions. Not doing this means you like killing little bunnies. Please don't kill little bunnies.
  92.
  93. You're way too generic.
  94. 1) that's not a question
  95. 2) this is a noob guide, read http://blocgame.com/forums/index.php?topic=3530.0 if you're fucking autistic.
