  1. Hi /smtg/. Sorry for the long wait again. Some more Devil Summoner translation today, and some bonus goodies after that.
  2.
  3. About updates from now on-- instead of giving full summaries of events in the thread, I've started fully translating story and boss scenes, so I'll post brief snippets about the story, and then Youtube links to translated videos.
  4.
  5. First order of business is probably interesting to fans of mainline SMT.

  8.
  9. Here are translations of all the scenes in Cafe Afro I've found so far, the TV newsman talks about events showing how Devil Summoner world differs from mainline SMT.
  10.
  11. Senator Yamashiro scene isn't related to mainline SMT though, that's only relevant to Devil Summoner.
  12.
  13. Additionally, here's 15 minutes of translated wandering about town. NPC and flavor dialogue, very little important story detail.
  14.

  18.
  19. So after taking care of Sid at Kitayama University, our first priority is figuring out just where Dr. Azuma has run off to. Marie also has a new mission for us, which involves an apartment complex near Mt. Kasagi.
  20.
  21. On the top floor of the apartments, the ghost of a photographer named Kashiyama is waiting...

  24.
  25. After Kashiyama I wandered about a bit checking out various areas and found two little scenes.
  26.
  27. First scene is a scene at the hospital, where you can visit your parents who are attending to the protagonist's comatose body.

  30.
  31. Second scene is a comedy scene on the 5th floor of one of the sewer areas where you encounter the "Devil Buster Busters", a Jack Frost and Pyro Jack who threaten to beat Kyouji up.

  34.
  35. Finally after messing around for long enough, I made good on the tips I learned about Dr. Azuma being on top of Mt. Kasagi and ascended it to find him.
  36.
  37. At the peak, Dr. Azuma is hiding inside a cottage. After he realizes we're not here to kill him, he tells us a bunch of the story behind Hirasaki City's past.
  38.
  39. A lot of this material is covered here:
  40. http://megamitensei.wikia.com/wiki/Ancient_Princess_Inaruna
  41.
  42. However I question some of the validity of that article. Dr. Azuma never refers to the country of magic-users by name; I suspect the country's name may be revealed later, but in this scene at least, he simply gives it no name.
  43.
  44. The "Qin Country" bit seems to come from 秦 "Hata", which can also be read as "qin" in Chinese.
  45.
  46. Incidentally, for those paying close attention, Kumiko's last name 秦野 has the same character in it.

  49.
  50. And that's about as far as I got for now. As you can see at the end of the Dr. Azuma video, the next stop will be Kumiko's house, where another Otherworld has appeared.
  51.
  52. Now for a change of pace, here are some bonus goodies for today.
  53.
  54. First up is a recently-released Persona 4 arrange album.
  55.
  56. I know not everybody here is so keen on Persona 4 stuff, but these are some pretty pleasant arranges. Jazz, lounge, downtempo... one unimpressive rock track, but everything else is nice.

  60. [Sound CYCLONE] Re:BRiLLiANCE
  61. Genre: Funk, Jazz, Electro, House, Rock, Downtempo
  62.
  63. Next up, for those uninterested in P4, a cool drum and bass mix of the Soul Hackers OP.

  66.
  67. Finally, a brief preview of what I'll be doing next after Devil Summoner, SMT: NINE.
  68.
  69. And by "preview" I mean, 10 minutes of me screwing around trying to figure out the interface. But the music is cool.
