  1. >Back in Canterlot, Cadence sat in her bed quietly, saddened by the recent events
  2. >A well-dressed stallion with a slicked back mane stood at the foot of her bed, looking down as he fumbled around and pushed his glasses up.
  3. >She honestly couldn’t believe she was going through with this.
  4. >”Well Princess, everything seems to be in order. Shame it was so brief. Maybe next time will be a bit better.”
  5. “I don’t think there will be a next time. But thank you for taking care of the divorce papers. Now if you’ll excuse me, I’d like to be alone.”
  6. >”Of course Princess.”
  7. >Cadence watched as the lawyer left, then turned her gaze out her window.
  8. >Such a beautiful day.
  9. >No doubt the birds would be singing the most beautiful songs ever to bless the ears of a p0ny this evening.
  10. >Down below in the courtyard, she watched as a few guards walked around on their usual patrol.
  11. >An enormous green helicopter sat in front of what Anonymous had called the hangar, black burn marks dappling it like a leopard.
  12. >Auntie Celestia stood next to a tall figure standing on two legs, sharing an embrace.
  13. >Wait, two legs? Tall?
  14. “HE’S BACK!”
  15. >Cadence rushed out the door, nearly knocking over the guard that had been assigned to her for the day.
  16.
  17. >As you and Celestia approached the castle doors, they burst open on their own with the force of a thousand suns.
  18. >Or one pretty pink p0ny princess.
  19. >Cadence knocked you back, embracing you with her forelegs
  20. “Whoa slow down speed racer!”
  21. >”You came back!”
  22. “Well… yeah. I couldn’t go home…”
  23. >”Cadence, I hate to break up your reunion but I need to speak with Anonymous… alone.”
  24. >”Oh… sorry for interrupting.”
  25. “I’ll catch up with you later Cadence.”
  26. >You returned her hug, and continued along with Celestia until you reached her room.
  27. >The moment you stepped inside, Celestia magically closed the door behind you, locking it
  28. “Uh, Celestia? What’s going on?”
  29. >”Anonymous, I need you to promise that what happens in this room, will stay in this room. I know how close you are to Cadence…”
  30. “What exactly is about to happen in this room?”
  31. >”Promise me!”
  32. “Alright alright, what’s going on?”
  33. >”As you probably know, Shining Armor was arrested before you left for the hive. Shortly after you left however, he escaped.”
  34. “Of course. The entire Canterlot guard is loyal to him.”
  35. >”I need somep0ny to go get him. SomeONE I can trust.”
  36. “You want me to bring him back? I’m not really much for… capture and detaining. I wouldn’t have anywhere to even put him on my bird.”
  37. >”That’s just it. The guard would only let him escape again. I need you to… eliminate him.”
  38. “I thought p0nies didn’t believe in the death penalty.”
  39. >”This matter is a bit more… personal.”
  40. “Aren’t you worried about how this will make you look?”
  41. >”It won’t be the royal guard doing the job. It’ll just be you, though I think Luna’s captain will be joining you.”
  42. “Is that a good idea?”
  43. >”A non-p0ny and a half p0ny can easily pass off as mercenaries or bounty hunters.”
  44. “Half p0ny?”
  45. >”You’ll see.”
  46. “Am I getting paid for this? As much as I look forward to blowing him to bits, I’m going to need to earn some money if I’m making Equestria my home.”
  47. >”10,000 bits and I’ll have a house built for you wherever you’d like.”
  48. “Deal.”
  49. >”How soon can you leave?”
  50. “I’d like some time to patch up the armor on the bird. I can probably have it ready by tomorrow.”
  51. >”He has a two day lead on you already. Most likely travelling by train to escape p0ny jurisdiction.”
  52. “I think my chopper can chase down a train. Besides, his shield spells are powerful, if he hits me with a barrier it might knock me out of the sky.”
  53. >”Will more armor help you stay up?”
  54. “No, but it may keep the bird in one piece should I need a crash landing.”
  55. >”Very well… Make haste. I’ll have some servants and guards bring you materials to make repairs. One more thing.”
  56. “Yes?”
  57. >”Keep the collateral damage to a minimum…”
  58. “Of course.”
  59. >Celestia leaned forward, nuzzling your cheek, causing you to flinch.
  60. >”Sorry, it’s just nice to have you back. I’m sorry to have to send you away so soon.”
  61. “No worries, I’ll leave as soon as I’m ready.”
  62. >”If you get a chance, I’m sure Cadence would like to speak with you before you go.”
  63. “What should I tell her?”
  64. >”If she asks where you’re going, tell her to come talk to me.”
  65. “Will do, take care Celestia.”
  66. >”You too.”
  67. >You left Celestia’s chambers, and walked along the elegant castle halls.
  68. >It was beautiful.
  69. >Marble floors beneath a narrow red carpet, white walls, tapestries, and several other types of décor.
  70. >The royal family sure had a good taste in interior design.
  71. >You assumed it would take a bit for Celestia to acquire the steel plating you needed, so you approached the first guard you found, and asked directions to Cadence’s room
  72. >You were directed to a nearby oak door, and gave it a good knock.
  73. >”It’s open!”
  74. >Pushing the door open, you found the pink princess at her window, nuzzling an orange bird.
  75. “Do you invite everyone who knocks inside?”
  76. >”You have a distinct knock deary.”
  77. >You placed an arm around her in some form of a hug, pulling her tight.
  78. >”I’m glad you came back.”
  79. “Oh believe me, it was a tough choice. The changelings were offering me a suite fit for a king!”
  80. >”Really?”
  81. “No.”
  82. >Cadence chuckled as she leaned up and kissed your cheek.
  83. >You flinched yet again, still unused to the feeling of p0ny lips against your skin.
  84. >”Sorry, I know you don’t feel comfortable about that…”
  85. “It’s fine, it’s still good to see you.”
  86. >The two of you watched out the window as Celestia and Luna swapped their respective heavenly bodies in the sky.
  87. >”Care to stay the night? It… well. It gets lonely at night.”
  88. “For the night, sure. I uh… won’t be staying long.”
  89. >”Why not?”
  90. >Cadence crawled into her bed, and you lay next to her, still in your flight suit.
  91. “Celestia has an assignment for me. I can’t really talk about it…”
  92. >”I won’t pressure you. Can you at least tell me how long you’ll be gone?”
  93. “No, I don’t know…”
  94. >”Alright…. You should ditch that silly outfit. It’s not as… snuggable.”
  95. “Seriously?”
  96. >Cadence giggled, watching from the corner of her eye as you discarded your uniform, placing your weapon on the table.
  97. >Once you laid back down, Cadence pushed back into you, and giggled yet again.
  98. >”Isn’t your gun on the nightstand?”
  99. >Cadence you clever little…
  100. >She shifted so that she faced you, your faces inches apart.
  101. “Why are you looking at me like that?”
  102. >”I’m not married anymore…”
  103. >You felt a warm hoof stroke your crotch underneath the blankets.
  104. “That didn’t take long…”
  105. >”Shining Armor was sentenced to life… might as well.”
  106. “Look… you’re cute, and I like you, but- mmph!”
  107. >Cadence cut you off, sticking her tongue down your throat and engaging in a duel with you.
  108. >Brain, what do?
  109. >You dumbass, deploying flares!
  110. >You placed a hand on her chest and gently pushed Cadence away after a few seconds.
  111. “I cant.”
  112. >”Whyyyyyy?”
  113. “We’re not even the same species…”
  114. >”It’s not what’s on the outside that matters…”
  115. “I’m… I’m just not ready for that.”
  116. “Maybe, just maybe, when I get back.”
  117. >”Maybe?”
  118. “Maybe. Tonight… just cuddle.”
  119. >”Ok… I guess…”
  120. >Cadence rolled so her back was to you once more, and you draped an arm over her.
  121. >You pulled the mare tightly against your body, and slowly drifted off to sleep.
  122. >The next morning was fairly routine.
  123. >Wake up, get dressed without waking sleeping pretty pink p0ny princess.
  124. >Head to dining hall, have breakfast with Celestia, who you still lacked a good nickname for.
  125. >Walk to hangar with said princess and take inventory of the steel that had been dropped off.
  126. >Each plate looked to be about ½ inch thick and 8 x 8 in size
  127. >You didn’t need too many, just enough to reinforce the key points of the gunship.
  128. >First and foremost, the tail, where most of the damaged had been sustained.
  129. >Celestia pitched in, heating the plates and bending them so that they fit the fuselage of the aircraft better.
  130. >You quickly tacked each plate into position as they were put up before welding them down in place.
  131. >Once you felt good about the reinforced tail, you added extra plates to the engine housings.
  132. >You didn’t want the daunting task of repairing those again.
  133. >”Is he almost ready? These two should make haste if they wish to catch the former captain.”
  134. >You and Celestia looked toward the open bay door at two dark figures standing in the sunlight.
  135. >Hello sister. Yes, I think the Chief is ready to get moving.”
  136. >You examined the captain next to Luna, who wore only a cloak.
  137. >The same captain you had held captive a few weeks ago.
  138. >”Good. Let’s get this overwith.”
  139. >That voice…
  140. >With all the adrenaline, somehow, you hadn’t noticed one BIG detail about the captain.
  141. “You’re a mare?!”
  142. >A long silence filled the air as the three mares stared at you in amazement.
  143. >”You stuck a knife to my throat and you didn’t even take the time to notice my gender!?”
  144. “Was I supposed to buy you dinner first?”
  145. >The captain gave a pleading look to Luna, to which Luna sympathized, but nodded.
  146. >”You still need to go. This mission is important.”
  147. >”Very well Princess. Is there a place I can put my stuff?”
  148. “Front seat I suppose. I doubt you could manipulate the firing controls with those hooves.”
  149. >Captain nodded, tossing her saddlebags and her cloak up into the cockpit.
  150. >She had a grey coat, ,pale blue hair, golden eyes and… bat wings?
  151. “What in the god damn…”
  152. >”Take a picture, it’ll last longer.”
  153. ”Got a name Captain?”
  154. >”Nunya. As in Nunya Buisness.”
  155. “Seriously?”
  156. >”No you dimwit, to you I’m just ‘Captain’. Got it?”
  157. “Right-o Batmare.”
  158. >”…Batmare?”
  159. “You have batwings. And back home we have this superhero named Batman and-“
  160. >”Can it. I really don’t care.”
  161. “Alright geez. No need to get grumpy.”
  162. >”Luna, we should leave so these two can get acquainted. I feel as if they have a long mission ahead of them.”
  163. >”I was just going to bed anyways.”
  164. “Any idea where our target may have gone?”
  165. >”His parents live here in Canterlot, and he also has a sister in Ponyville. By now he could be as far as Applepaloosa though.”
  166. “Is it far?”
  167. >”From here? About four days flight. But we should check to make sure he’s actually going that direction. He may try and pull a fast one on us.”
  168. “You do the investigating, I’ll bring the hammer down on him.”
  169. >”I’m the brains, you’re the brute force. Sounds like an average day of work. Save for the monkey in a giant whirly bird.”
  170. >You chuckled as you climbed up into the cockpit, and tossed Batmare the gunner’s helmet.
  171. “Put that on, it’ll let me talk to you when I’m in the air.”
  172. >”It smells funny.”
  173. “Deal with it Batmare.”
  174. >”Are you really going to call me that this entire time?”
  175. “Most likely.”
  176. >”I already hate you.”
  177. “Can we get a move on? I can’t wait to stick a hellfire in our targets shiny asshole.”
  178. >”Yeah, let’s go.”
  179. >You started up the engines and took to the skies, testing the controls to see how well the chopper handled with the additional armor.
  180. >Most of the armor you added was to replace the armor that had been turned to slag, so the performance suffered only slightly.
  181. >”Is this thing on? Can you hear me?”
  182. “No.”
  183. >”Damn. Wait. You ass.”
  184. “Oh don’t get your wings in a bind, I’m just messing with you.”
  185. >”There’s not really a good place for you to land that monstrosity. I’ll go down and talk to his parents, then we can head out to Ponyville or wherever he went.”
  186. “Alright, hurry up.”
  187. >Batmare disappeared into the city streets and into an apartment complex, leaving you to pull overwatch on the streets below.
  188. >If Shining Armor did make a break for it, you could pick him off before he got too far.
  189. >The streets quickly cleared of any p0nies standing around, and only a few brave souls stuck their heads out the windows.
  190. >The memory of your attack was still all too fresh in their mind still.
  191. >A few minutes later, Batmare stepped back out into the streets.
  192. >”Just as I thought, he went to Ponyville to see his sister one more time before fleeing.”
  193. “Well what are you waiting for, I’ll race you.”
  194. >Batmare chuckled softly and took off, leaving you in the dust at first.
  195. >Eventually, you built up your speed and caught back up to her, blowing by her.
  196. >”Nice of you to join me.”
  197. “Is that as fast as you can go?”
  198. >”You’re going to get tired eventually…”
  199. “Funny thing, machines don’t get tired.”
  200. >”…Lucky bucker.”
  201. “There’s room for one more body in here.”
  202. >”Wearing your stinky helmet is bad enough. I’d rather fly in the clean air.”
  203. “Suit yourself.”
  204. >You spent the rest of the flight in radio silence, keeping entertained with barrel rolls, tree top flying, and literally flying circles around Batmare.
  205. >You were impressed with her speed, but you had top speed over here when it came to flying.
  206. >”If you’re trying to impress me, it’s working.”
  207. “Really? That surprises me.”
  208. >”I lied, quit showing off.”
  209. “Aw, Batmare, you’re going to hurt my feelings.”
  210. >”Deal with it.”
  211. “How much farther?”
  212. >”Another 8 hours, we left late. We should probably set up camp at that lake up ahead.”
  213. “Sounds good.”
  214. >You began your descent, landing softly in the tall, grassy meadow beside the lake.
  215. >Batmare landed a bit away from you, being wary of the still spinning rotors of the gunship.
  216. “Bring any food?”
  217. >”Yeah, you?”
  218. “Celestia gave me some before we got to work.”
  219. >”Good, I don’t have to share.”
  220. “Stingy much?”
  221. >”Shush. I might have to work with you but I don’t have to like you.”
  222. >You sat up against the fuselage of the gunship, lighting a cigar.
  223. “For what it’s worth, sorry about holding you hostage.”
  224. >Batmare cast a sideways glance at you, checking the sincerity of the apology.
  225. >”Yeah, whatever. Let’s just get this mission over with so we can go about our lives.”
  226. “Fair enough.”
  227. >You drew a blanket from the cockpit and curled up underneath it.
  228. >”Got an extra one of those?”
  229. “Are you serious? You knew we were going to be in the field and you don’t bring a blanket?”
  230. >”Hey, I was told to pack light…”
  231. “Use your damn cloak. It’s not even that cold.”
  232. >”Jerk.”
  233. “Flattery gets you nowhere. We can pick you up a blanket in Ponyville.”
  234. >”Hey, give me a break, I’ve never done a job like this.”
  235. “Neither have I.”
  236. >Batmare stood up and trotted over to you.
  237. >”Then why do I have to have you tag along. I can take Shining Armor out by myself.”
  238. “You aren’t too bright are you?”
  239. >”I have just as much a chance of taking him out as you.”
  240. “Yes, your 100 pound batcorn body is a match for a 16000 pound, HE spewing piece of mean, green, divine intervention! Do you know, what divine intervention is?”
  241. >”Uh… no…”
  242. >You pointed to the gunship.
  243. “THAT is divine intervention.”
  244. >”Then what’s that make you?”
  245. >You thought a moment, drawing in a long puff from your cigar.
  246. “Then that makes me God.”
  247. >You leaned in, letting smoke blow in Batmare’s face.
  248. >She shivered at the sensation, but kept eye contact.
  249. >”Well ‘God’ are you just going to stand there or are you going to kiss me? Because you’re all over me right now.”
  250. >You squinted, stood up, went back to your gunship, and sat back down against it.
  251. “Don’t flatter yourself. Now get some rest, we’re airborne when the sun rises.”
  252. >”Whatever. Night.”
  253. >You watched as Batmare shook her head, mentally kicking herself for that remark, and walked over to the lakes edge.
  254. >This was going to be a long mission.
  255. >You woke up the next morning to Batmare tapping at your helmet visor.
  256. >”Hey, you dead in there?”
  257. >Guess you forgot to take off your helmet before going to bed.
  258. >You brushed her hoof aside
  259. “Get off of me.”
  260. >”Hurry up and get your ‘divine intervention’ off the ground, I want to get to Ponyville before dinner.”
  261. >You silently threw your supplies into the front seat of the gunship, climbed in and started your preflight checks as Batmare impatiently sat and waited on you to get airborne.
  262. >”Anytime now.’
  263. >You extended your middle finger at her, and finished your checks.
  264. >”Finally”
  265. >You both took to the skies, and sped toward Ponyville
  266. “Wake up on the wrong side of the rock Batmare?”
  267. >”In case you didn’t notice, or you’re just too stupid to notice, I’m nocturnal for the most part. You know, slanted eyes to help see in the dark?”
  268. “Yeah I noticed your snake eyes.”
  269. >”Anything else you noticed?”
  270. “Are you hitting on me again?”
  271. >”I WASN’T HITTING ON YOU!”
  272. “Uh-huh, sure.”
  273. >”I swear I’ll bite your damn head off.”
  274. “Kinky.”
  275. >”Now who’s hitting on who?”
  276. “Funny Batmare.”
  277. >”Quit calling me that!”
  278. “Alright, sorry Bats.”
  279. >”Quit! I’m not even half bat!”
  280. “Explain the creepy wings.”
  281. >”Magic. Now shut up.”
  282. “You know this would suck less if you didn’t have your dick in your ass 24/7.”
  283. >”Excuse me?!”
  284. “Oh, right. Mare, not stallion. I forgot, silly me.”
  285. >”You little…”
  286. >You silenced Batmare by switching channels to aux and started up your ipod, playing some music to keep you entertained.
  287. >After a while, you spotted a small town on the horizon, and decided to check in on Batmare.
  288. >Flipping the switch, you went back to the comm channel.
  289. “How you doing over there Batmare?”
  290. >”I was fine until you cut off the music.”
  291. >Oh right, she was wearing your gunners helmet.
  292. >”We’ll be in Ponyville soon. You could probably find a place to land if you feel like tagging along.”
  293. “Alright. I was just checking in.”
  294. >”Put the music back on.”
  295. >You flipped the switch back on and hit play.
  296. >Looking over, you couldn’t help but chuckle at the sight of Batmare bobbing her head ever so slightly to the music.
  297. >It was cute, in its own way.
  298. >Even if she was a freak of nature.
  299. >In one of those awkward moments, Batmare suddenly turned her head, locking eyes with you.
  300. >It was impossible to tell to be sure, the tinted visor of the helmet hiding the eyes of both you.
  301. >Most of her face even.
  302. >But you could make out the slightest color change when she turned her head back to Ponyville.
  303. >You sat down in the Ponyville town center, right outside what looked to be town hall.
  304. >Several p0nies looked up at you in a mixture of awe and fear.
  305. >Batmare, who had chased away the p0nies on the ground so you could land, approached you as you stepped down, a purple unicorn alongside her.
  306. >”Found her. Wasn’t hard.”
  307. “You’re Shining Armor’s sister?”
  308. >”I’m Twilight Sparkle, yes. Who are you? What are you? And what in the hoof is this monstrosity?”
  309. >Twilight began inspecting every inch of the gunship, spawning a notepad and a quill out of thin air it seemed.
  310. ”Miss Sparkle, step away from the helicopter, we have some questions.”
  311. >”Helicopter? Pinkie had something like this… where are the pedals though…?
  312. “Miss Sparkle!”
  313. >Twilight didn’t bother looking up from the 30mm, pivoting it with her magic.
  314. >”Do as he says Twilight. We need to find your brother.”
  315. >Twilight looked up, examining you and Batmare.
  316. >”Why are you looking for him?”
  317. “Celestia asked us to find him. We don’t ask questions.”
  318. >”Why send Luna’s guard captain and a…”
  319. “Human.”
  320. >”Former Captain. I don’t wear a uniform anymore.”
  321. >”Even more suspicious. A simple messenger would have sufficed if she needed him.”
  322. “He may be in danger.”
  323. >”So she’s sending a mercenary and a former guard captain.”
  324. “No one said I was a mercenary.”
  325. >”This craft was obviously designed for war. War of a completely different method than anyone in the known world is accustomed to, but war none the less.”
  326. “I won’t deny that. But right now it’s just a mode of transportation.”
  327. >”We understand he may be leaving the country, and some of the outlying regions are quite dangerous.”
  328. “Do you know where he is or not?”
  329. >”No. He came by and got some money, said he needed to buy a train ticket.”
  330. >”He didn’t say whether he was going?”
  331. >“The train station should keep a record of that.”
  332. “Do you have a picture of him we could borrow?”
  333. >”Yeah, I’ll go get it…”
  334. >Twilight trotted off into town, leaving you and Batmare beside the helicopter.
  335. >She took out a map and spread it across the ground.
  336. >”He could have gone a few different places. Manehattan, Fillydelphia, or possibly took a straight shot to Applepaloosa.”
  337. “My guess would be Applepaloosa. Get as much distance between him and us as possible.”
  338. >”I was thinking Fillydelphia. Major port city, could go anywhere provided he got around the giant whirlpool.”
  339. “I thought that would just be a decoration.”
  340. >”Are you gay? You don’t put decorations on a map.”
  341. “Only gay for you Batmare. Wait, shit.”
  342. >Batmare rolled her eyes.
  343. >”Look, here comes Twilight. Let’s just get the picture and go to the train station.”
  344. >Twilight levitated the photo over to you, and you snatched it out of the air, placing it in your pocket.
  345. >”Will you tell me what’s going on?”
  346. “Classified.”
  347. >”I’m Celestia’s personal student. I can just ask her.”
  348. “Then ask her. By the time you find out, IF you find out, we’ll be long gone.”
  349. >Twilight opened her mouth to retort, but found no reply.
  350. “Let’s get going Batmare.”
  351. >Bats rolled her eyes and trotted alongside you to the train station you had flown over on the way in to Ponyville.
  352. >”I’ll do the talking.”
  353. >A tan stallion looked up from his magazine behind a glass counter, and pointed to the train schedule with a hoof
  354. >”Next train won’t be here for another 6 hours.”
  355. >”We don’t need a ticket. We’re looking for a stallion. Shining Armor.”
  356. >You extended the picture, pressing it against the glass screen between you two.
  357. >”Yeah, he was here yesterday I think. Let me check the logs.”
  358. >The stallion at the counter pulled out an enormous, thick book and flipped a few pages.
  359. >”Says here he was on the train headed to Stalliongrad.”
  360. >”Stalliongrad? That can’t be right.”
  361. “Why not?”
  362. >”There’s no place he could go up north. Unless he plans on going into the unexplored regions, but that would be suicide.”
  363. “Why?”
  364. >”There’s a mountain range up north, on the border of Equestria. Past that, there’s no known life. It’s too cold. He could go to Ibexian Empire or Prance, but the royal guard would still have jurisdiction. Certain treaties and whatnot.”
  365. “Well, that’s where the manifest said he was going, so we’re going to check it out.”
  366. >”Yeah. Hey, how about we get a room for the night? Take off at sunrise.”
  367. “Come on Batmare you didn’t even buy me dinner first. Have some class.”
  368. >Batmare leapt up, hovering with her wings for a brief second before punching you with a hoof.
  369. >You recoiled, holding your jaw in your hand.
  370. >The mare packed a punch, you would give her that.
  371. “Alright, I might have deserved that.”
  372. >”I swear if you do not shut up and act with SOME degree of decency I will rip your throat out with my bare teeth.”
  373. >Normal circumstances of being threatened by a pony, this wouldn’t seem like much of a threat.
  374. >But as Batmare bared her teeth, you noticed something a bit intimidating.
  375. >Fangs, each about two inches long, hung in the roof of her mouth, gleaming in the setting sunlight.
  376. “I’ll get us some food, you go get us a room. Deal?”
  377. >”Whatever.”
  378. >Batmare trotted off, leaving you to head over to “Sugarcube Corner”
  379. >With a box of apple fritters in hand, you made your way to the small inn on the outskirts of the city, and approached the older mare sitting at the welcome desk.
  380. “I’m looking for the mare with batwings. We’re rooming together.”
  381. >”R-room three.”
  382. “Thank you, have a nice evening.”
  383. >You chuckled softly as the old mare looked up nervously at you, and walked off toward the appropriate room.
  384. >You paused to knock, but realized how pointless it would be.
  385. >P0nies ran around naked all the time, with very few exceptions.
  386. >You walked inside, finding Batmare’s cloak on the floor.
  387. >Steam rolled in the room from under a nearby door way, and you could hear some singing from inside
  388. >Wait, was Batmare singing AC/DC?
  389. >Oh dear lord this was glorious.
  390. >It took every bit of discipline not to burst out laughing right then and there.
  391. >But you had pissed Batmare off enough for the day.
  392. >One death threat was enough.
  393. >Sitting down on the nearby bed, you dug into the bag of fritters, scarfing down several of them before Batmare came out.
  394. >You paused, fritter halfway hanging out of your mouth, eyes fixated on her for a moment.
  395. >Her coat glistened with water, her dark, cropped mane sticking to her neck.
  396. >Whoa, down boner, you don’t have permission to take off.
  397.
  398. >”You gonna shower or just sit there with that retarded look on your face?”
  399. “Huh? Oh, right.”
  400. >Moving quickly, you left the bag of fritters behind and went into the bathroom.
  401. >It was faint, but you could swear you heard Bats stifle a chuckle.
  402. >Damn you boner.
  403. >The shower was small, and Batmare had used up the hot water.
  404. >But it was refreshing all the same.
  405. >No doubt Batmare hated going more than a day without a shower.
  406. >Though she was on the masculine side, personality wise at least.
  407. >She did look… cute…
  408. >After drying off you stepped into the bedroom, still in your dirty flight suit.
  409. >”Hey, only one bed so… guess you’re on the floor.”
  410. “You serious?”
  411. >”Do you see another bed in here?”
  412. “No but I see a mare that needs to move the fuck over.”
  413. >”Whatever.”
  414. >Batmare disappeared under the blankets and curled up defiantly.
  415. >Still, there was a small part you could fit.
  416. >You took a running leap at the bed, landing on the opposite edge of the bed from Batmare.
  417. >There was an almost comical ‘boing’ as Batmare was launched into the air, and plopped onto the hardwood floor.
  418. >”You!”
  419. “Me?”
  420. >”Get out!”
  421. “No.”
  422. >You rolled over in bed, enjoying the shocked expression that had washed over her face.
  423. >She must not get told no very often
  424. >”I order you-“
  425. “Not under your command.”
  426. >”You- You dispecable…hairless ape!”
  427. ”Bossy bat snake p0ny thing.”
  428. >”What?!”
  429. “What the hell are you anyways?”
  430. >”It’s-“
  431. “You have those eyes, bat wings, and fangs. You look like a gay retarded vampire!”
  432. >Whoa, that was kind of harsh, even for you.
  433. >”I’ll be outside… Night Chief…”
  434. “Batmare!”
  435. >Batmare slammed the door behind her before you could even finish her name.
  436. >You heard a light clopping sound, and then silence as she sat on the bench outside the room.
  437. >Was she… crying?
  438. >That’s impossible.
  439. >She was the god damn Batmare!
  440. >But, you could hear an occasional sniffle.
  441. >Cracking the door open, you visually confirmed what you suspected.
  442. >You had a Batmare down.
  443. “Hey, Batmare…”
  444. >”WHAT?!”
  445. “I just wanted to say sorry.”
  446. >”Whatever…”
  447. “Hey, come inside. It’s too cold out here.”
  448. >”Would you like me to cling from the ceiling like a bat too?”
  449. >You took a seat next to her, placing a hand on what was akin to her shoulders.
  450. “Bed’s big enough that we could share.”
  451. >Batmare quickly pulled away, hopping off the bench and trotting inside.
  452. >”Stay on your side or I’ll bite your legs off.”
  453. “Sounds fair Bats.”
  454. >”Quit calling me that.”
  455. “Then tell me your name.”
  456. >”Just… Captain. Ok?”
  457. “Captain Batmare?”
  458. >”I hate you.”
  459. >You each laid on the bed, your backs to each other.
  460. >It wasn’t the best bed, but you fell asleep all the same.
  461. >Tomorrow you would head to Stalliongrad.
