  6. “Hurry up, Freya! The fair is about to start!” Ed yelled at me.
  7. “I'm running as fast as I can! I forgot to eat my lunch today, you know.”
  8. I dashed ahead blindly, not bothering to look where I was going.
  9. “Freya, you're about to-”
  10. “Shut u- OUCH!”
  11. I bounced back and rubbed my head.
  12. “I was going to say you were about to hit a tree trunk, silly.” Ed rolled his eyes and went to join the crowd of animals for Mayor Eva's speech. It was December 1st, the day the Snowhill Fair started.
  13. The Snowhill Fair was a celebration before Christmas that was held in Snowhill every year for the past 100 years. It was to celebrate our town's founding, so we would all know that our great town was made so long ago with so much excitement. The fair always had tons of good food, games and prizes to get. It was really exciting. I had just moved in that year, however, so this was my first fair.
  14. Suddenly, a person walked up onto the stage near the town tree. It was Mayor Eva, dressed in her lovely GracieGrace clothes.
  15. “Hello, Snowhill!” She called out, and we returned with cheering.
  16. “Today is the day the annual Snowhill Fair begins. Remember, it lasts until December 3rd, and the awards ceremony will be the last event. Now, let's partaaaaay!”
  17. We all rushed into a line towards the ticket booth. Mayor Eva's faithful secretary, Isabelle, was selling tickets.
  18. “10 tickets for 20 Bells! Come get them now!” She called.
  19. Ed and I quickly rushed into line right behind Vesta.
  20. “Isn't this greaaaaat?” She turned around to look at us.
  21. “Yeah. Freya, I'll show you around later.”
  22. Ed told me. He flipped his hair and turned to Vesta. I excitedly looked around, just thinking of what I could do.
  23. “Oh, but don't forget to visit Katrina's booth to get rid of the curse.”

  25. Chapter Two
  26. The Snowhill Curse
  27.
  28. “C-c-curse?” I stammered. I looked at Ed like he was a crazy horse.
  29. “Yeah. Legend has it that during the first few days of the first year in the fair, a witch horse named Winnie the Wicked cursed the town because an idiot dog named Biskit accidentally trampled her and peed on her. Therefore, she cursed the town so during the fair, anyone with the curse still lingering would be cursed forever with either terrible luck or just be the most horrible animal against their will.” Ed explained.
  30. “Just because one dog did that on purpose doesn't mean she should-”
  31. “No, but the whole town made fun of her and laughed at her.”
  32. “Oh.”
  33. I didn't think any of that was true. I thought, personally, that it was a myth to scare little animals. I didn't know it then, but I was extremely wrong.
  34. “I don't think I'll believe that.” I declared.
  35. “Even so, you may as well go to Katrina's just in case to be cleared of it.”
  36. Ed turned around to give Isabelle some Bells for tickets. He walked off towards the food.
  37. “Hi Isabelle!”
  38. “Why, hello Freya! I hope you've settled in well?”
  39. “Yes. I'm excited about the fair.”
  40. “You should be.”
  41. I gave Isabelle some Bells and she handed me my tickets.
  42. “Don't forget to head to Katrina's!” She shouted as I walked away.
  43. Isabelle believes in the curse too? I was skeptical, but it made a little bit of sense. I decided to go to Katrina's just for the sake of it.
  44. “Katrina?” I poked my head into the tent. Silence.
  45. I walked in and sat down near the table. Suddenly, the other side lit up and Katrina was sitting there, paws over a crystal ball.
  46. “Sit and focus your mind on this crystal ball...” She whispered.
  47. I sat there, thinking of the round, glowing shape of the ball. Suddenly, Katrina gasped.
  48. “What?! What is it?”
  49. “My dear, you seem to... carry the aura of the curse!”
  50. “What the heck does that even mean?”
  51. Katrina shook her head.
  52. “My crystal ball reveals that you are carrying the curse without even trying. You are not affected by it, but you do carry it. There is only one explanation.”
  53. I tipped my head a bit to one side. I couldn't think of a plausible explanation.
  54. “Which is?”
  55. “You are the direct descendant of Winnie the Wicked.”

  58. The Secret Inside
  59.
  60. “WHAT? How is that even possible?!” I screeched.
  61. Ed poked his head in the tent.
  62. “Geez, what is it?”
  63. “I'm a descendant of Winnie the Wicked!”
  64. “Are you kidding?!”
  65. “No.”
  66. Ed was shocked, frozen. He couldn't even handle this, and he wasn't even me.
  67. “But you're a wolf, not a horse!”
  68. “That's because I took over.”
  69. “What did you say, Freya?”
  70. “I didn't say anything.”
  71. I thought Ed was losing it. But I didn't say anything at all!
  72. “You foolish wolf. You allowed me to take over, hide in yourself.”
  73. I slapped myself. What was I saying?! I never call myself foolish, of course. I am perfect in any possible way.
  74. “Time for me to end Snowhill's time... forever!”
  75. “Who are you?”
  76. I yelled.
  77. “I am... Winnie the Wicked. As a witch, I can take over someone without them figuring it out. Since you are my great granddaughter, taking over you was so easy. Now, watch me as I destroy Snowhill and get my revenge on you all!”
  78. How was this happening to me...?
