  8.
  9. Good day, everyone.
  10.
  11. It's time for Shiny Numbers.
  12.
  13. This is a special program meant for the idols now under the spotlight to have sparkling days along with listeners.
  14.
  15. Received first week's baton from Uzuki-chan, and I, Takagaki Kaede, will host this second week.
  16.
  17. As today's radio personality [PAASONARITII], I hope to do a fun episode that will make all you listeners want to feel energized. [PAATTONARETEI]
  18.
  19. It'll be only a short while, but let's enjoy it.
  20.

  22.
  23. Shiny Numbers Fan Letter Corner.
  24.
  25. In this corner, I'll be talking about letters sent by listeners.
  26.
  27. Thank you very much, everyone, for all the letters. I made sure to read through everything.
  28.
  29. After reading, I was tired [tsukareta: tsuka-LETTER], no, not at all. It was so fun I had read through it all before I knew.
  30.
  31. Then, I'll talk about some of them, as time permits.
  32.
  33. First one, by "Suuku-san". Thank you.
  34.
  35. "Congratulations on 2nd place in the election."
  36.
  37. Thank you very much.
  38.
  39. "Having gone up one rank since last time, what do you feel about this year's election, and how do you feel about the new unit?
  40.
  41. Are you excited about the next election?"
  42.
  43. Yes, I feel happy about reaching 2nd place. But even more than that, I'm happy that so many people supported me. Thank you very much for your support.
  44.
  45. As for what I feel about the new unit, this time there are members who I'll be doing recordings with for the first time, so it was exciting to hear about that.
  46.
  47. When I think about it, it's always been like that, and now the excitement is even more.
  48.
  49. I'm usually the eldest, but Miyu-san is there this time, so I want to think that maybe I can depend on her a bit and be free.
  50.
  51. [TL note: "Amaete" can mean several things, including being fawned over by someone. But as much as I'd like to use that, I'm going with the more sensible approach here.]
  52.
  53. About being excited for the next election, hmmm, it seems I've become a bit greedy recently.
  54.
  55. Before, I was content with just doing the work I get and then enjoying a drink on the way home.
  56.
  57. But now I've met many different people and been introduced to different kinds of drinks.
  58.
  59. And then I've experienced many new things, and come to realize that there's still so much more that I haven't experienced.
  60.
  61. So I'm just going to do all I can and let everyone see me like that, regardless of the rank.
  62.
  63. I, Takagaki Kaede, will do my best! Please keep on supporting me.
  64.
  65. =
  66.
  67. Talked quite a bit for the first one.
  68.
  69. Let's go on to the next letter, from "Brucer-san". Thank you.
  70.
  71. "Takagi Kaede-san, congratulations on 2nd place in the election."
  72.
  73. Thank you very much.
  74.
  75. "Did you celebrate?"
  76.
  77. Celebrate... You mean drinking, right?
  78.
  79. "And about that, I have to ask you. How do you like to drink, and what's your favourite snack to go with it?"
  80.
  81. Hmm... I certainly celebrated. Splurged on champagne. For the snack, dried raisins. This is a favourite combination of mine.
  82.
  83. [TL note: To be specific, the snack is "枝付き干しぶどう" but I have no clue how that really differs from regular raisins other than them still being in a bunch.]
  84.
  85. When it comes to drinking, I like to drink what suits the place and time. After work, I like to relax with a drink, so I go for nihonshu. [Rice wine, commonly called "sake" in the West.]
  86.
  87. On hot summer days, I like to drink beer, and with fried foods, I like lemon sour.
  88.
  89. Ahhh... All this talk makes me want to drink. Oh, and right now I'm in a mood for gyoza with highball.
  90.
  91. Maybe I'll go drink after recording is done.
  92.
  93. =
  94.
  95. Then, moving onto the next one, from "Maayuu-san". Thank you.
  96.
  97. "Kaede-san, your hair is looks so light, fluffy and stylish. Normally how do you set your hair up this way?", it says.
  98.
  99. Do I really look light, fluffy and stylish? It's hard to see how other people see it, so I think that's interesting.
  100.
  101. As for setting up hair, for work, professional hairdressers do it, and I ask them about the techniques and what to use, and I try to follow them normally.
  102.
  103. Though I don't really spend much time on it. I'm lazy. So it's mostly bedhead.
  104.
  105. But I do take care to do proper hair care, to keep my hair in good condition.
  106.
  107. =
  108.
  109. Going quickly to the next one, by "Kedamamomiji-san".
  110.
  111. "If you could cast one magic spell, who would you cast it on, and what kind of spell?"
  112.
  113. On the bartender, a spell to fill up and overflow a lot of nihonshu. I always secretly use that spell.
  114.
  115. [TL note: Seems to refer to a style of serving sake that involves it overflowing onto a container that the glass itself is placed on top of or inside.]
  116.
  117. With the lack of results, though, looks like I can't use magic.
  118.
  119. =
  120.
  121. And then, this one by "Mozunosuke-san".
  122.
  123. "What do you like on miso soup?"
  124.
  125. Sea lettuce.
  126.
  127. =
  128.
  129. Next question, from "Circus-san". Thank you.
  130.
  131. "Kaede-san, you come out with puns so quickly. What kind of repertoire do you have? And what should I do to be able to make puns like you?"
  132.
  133. Hmm... Repertoire, well, there isn't one. I don't really remember the puns I've made, and I just say what comes to my mind at the moment.
  134.
  135. So I don't really know what to do, but in general, I suppose stocking up on them is good.
  136.
  137. Your repertoire [REPAATORII] should be your heart's pantry. [PANTORII]
  138.
  139. Well, that was a bit of a failure, huh.
  140.
  141. =
  142.
  143. The final one, from "kataomoirashiikataomoi-san". That's a good one.
  144.
  145. [TL note: This name is a pun that impresses Kaede. "Kataomoi" can mean an unrequited love, or when written differently can mean something like shoulders feeling heavy. So, the name refers to an unrequited love that weighs heavily on their shoulders? I don't know. I can't be sure as I don't know how it's written.]
  146.
  147. "This time, we have three hosts who are minors. When they grow up, what kind of drinks would you recommend to them?"
  148.
  149. Hmm... I wonder.
  150.
  151. To begin with, I started drinking when adults I respected told me about drinks. I think it would be nice if I could be such an adult too.
  152.
  153. Then, first, for Uzuki-chan. Let's see. How about rosé champagne? Pink, cute and smells good. I think it's perfect for her.
  154.
  155. For Nono-chan, as she is now, a sweet, simple hot cocktail. But a girl can change surprisingly when she grows up, so she might even be more suited to a full bodied red wine by then.
  156.
  157. For Yoshino-chan, because she's from Kagoshima, I thought maybe shochu [Another kind of Japanese wine], but maybe nihonshu is better. I think she'll grow up to be a beautiful Japanese style lady to go well with it.
  158.
  159. Oh, by the way, my first was nihonshu. Can't ever forget what you taste first. First impressions are important, right?
  160.
  161. I'll work hard without forgetting my roots.
  162.
  163. Alright, then. That was the Shiny Numbers Fan Letter Corner. Thank you very much for all the letters.
  164.
  165. =
  166.
  167. Numbers Ranking!
  168.
  169. In this corner, the host will follow a given instruction and give rankings to things.
  170.
  171. Well, then, let's get to it.
  172.
  173. JAKA JAKA JAKA JAKA ... JAN
  174.
  175. "Things that comfort me." Comfort is important.
  176.
  177. [TL note: 癒し can mean multiple things of similar nature like healing, soothing, comforting]
  178.
  179. There are many, but it has to be just five, right? Okay, then. Let's go.
  180.
  181. Things that comfort me #5
  182.
  183. =
  184.
  185. The sky!
  186.
  187. What do you think? Was it surprising? I'm generally not that active, and when there's no work, I do nothing at all.
  188.
  189. Then I just look through the window at the sky, and observe the clouds and birds. When I do so, there's nothing in my mind, and it's comforting.
  190.
  191. And if you keep on looking at the sky like that, after a while the clouds start looking like yakitori [Japanese grilled chicken], and the full moon looks like a teacup, you're sure to feel hungry.
  192.
  193. That means go drinking after dinner, right?
  194.
  195. Next up, things that comfort me #4
  196.
  197. =
  198.
  199. Umeboshi! [Pickled Japanese plums]
  200.
  201. My hometown is Wakayama, so I'm inseparably bound to umeboshi. Last summer, I brought some back from home, and eating them made me feel nostalgic and comforted.
  202.
  203. At home I've helped out with pickling, and even now I sometimes do it by myself. I like really sour umeboshi, so I make them sour.
  204.
  205. But there are people who don't like the sourness, right? They make really sour faces when they try, and watching that oddly comforts me. I wonder why.
  206.
  207. Alright, onto the next one.
  208.
  209. Things that comfort me #3
  210.
  211. =
  212.
  213. Onsen! [Baths at hot springs]
  214.
  215. I love onsen, so anytime there's a long vacation, I go on onsen trips by myself.
  216.
  217. Soaking in warm water can make you feel relieved [HOT-toshimasu], right? It feels good to soak for long in lukewarm water too.
  218.
  219. To go in for a little bit at the beginning of the day is fun, and if there's one near a work location, I drop in during short breaks too.
  220.
  221. I like to enjoy it while thinking "would be great if it could give me beautiful skin".
  222.
  223. When you warm your body, your heart warms up too, you know.
  224.
  225. Everyone should go to onsen. Oh, but if you see a 25 year old woman in a massage chair, let her stay like that, okay?
  226.
  227. With that, things that comfort me #2
  228.
  229. =
  230.
  231. Nihonshu!
  232.
  233. I love it enough to have been talking enthusiastically at length about it just before.
  234.
  235. After work, I like to go to a preferred store of mine, and bring the day to an end with a delicious glass. That's very comforting.
  236.
  237. On off days, it feels wonderful to order my favourite and just spend the day relaxed.
  238.
  239. Oh, hey, how about a program where I go to various places in Japan and talk about available nihonshu? Maybe even onsen!
  240.
  241. Isn't it exciting?
  242.
  243. I wonder if it will happen. If there are any higher up people listening now, please consider it.
  244.
  245. Alright. Finally, all that's left is number 1.
  246.
  247. Things that comfort me #1
  248.
  249. =
  250.
  251. Fans' support!
  252.
  253. Recently, I've been busy with work, and sometimes when it got difficult, I've wondered whether I'm doing something wrong.
  254.
  255. In those times, when someone tells me "it was great" or "it was energizing", that alone is enough for all the troubles to be blown away, and I feel "I'm glad I became an idol".
  256.
  257. This might feel like I'm cheating, but it's what I really feel. Thank you, everyone, for making me feel comforted.
  258.
  259. =
  260.
  261. That was the "things that comfort me" ranking. Fifth, the sky. Fourth, umeboshi. Third, onsen. Second, nihonshu. And then first, fans' support.
  262.
  263. I'm happy if this helps understand me better than before.
  264.
  265. By the way, how would you rank your own comforting things? If I could be part of that, I'd be really happy.
  266.
  267. And that's it for the Numbers Ranking Corner.
  268.
  269. =
  270.
  271. It seems the time to wrap up has come before I even knew. It was so much fun talking about things I like. I'd be honoured if you found it fun too.
  272.
  273. It was just me talking at my own pace, but please listen to me the next time too, okay? It's a promise.
  274.
  275. And that's all we have time for.
  276.
  277. This was the second episode of Shiny Number, and I, your host, Takagaki Kaede.
  278.
  279. Next week's host will be Mifune Miyu-san. When her recording ends, maybe I'll invite her to an adult celebration by the two of us in this age group.
  280.
  281. And finally, I wish from the bottom of my heart that everyone would be engulfed in sparkling magic.
  282.
  283. Bye bye!
