  2. Archimtiros - Today at 12:02 AM
  3. I dunno, it depends on how you quantify just as bad
  4. as a person, maybe not
  5. as a politician, maybe not even
  6. as a trustworthy politician? Certainly worse. Trump may be stupid, but the realities of the white house set in, he'll say "lets deport all muslims" and the nat sec advisor, sec state and homeland will laugh in his face and that'd be the end of it
  7. And since the president doesn't have that power, with or without the other houses support, I feel relatively safe that it would end there
  8. Macrologia - Today at 12:04 AM
  9. Why do you think the realities of the white house will set in and he'll mellow down? He's been a megalomaniac public figure for years
  10. And why do you think he's trustworthy, just because Clinton isn't?
  11. He lies all the time
  12. Archimtiros - Today at 12:04 AM
  13. I didn't say he'd mellow, I'm sure he'll be just as crass and ridiculous as always
  14. Macrologia - Today at 12:04 AM
  15. He spouts complete bullshit all the time
  16. Archimtiros - Today at 12:04 AM
  17. But he won't actually be able to accomplish the ludicrious things he says
  18. Because the president can't do whatever he wants, despite popular opinion
  19. Macrologia - Today at 12:05 AM
  20. Stop bringing 'popular opinion' into this
  21. I don't give a shit what ignorant people who don't know anything about how government works think about how government works
  22. Of course he can't do 'whatever he wants'
  23. But he can do things that I don't think he should be able to do
  24. Archimtiros - Today at 12:05 AM
  25. I think the list of bodies left behind in the wake of the Clinton's political careers speaks worlds as for how trustworthy she is(edited)
  26. Macrologia - Today at 12:05 AM
  27. I didn't say Clinton was trustworthy
  28. The email thing proves she isn't
  29. Why would that mean that Trump is trustworthy?
  30. Archimtiros - Today at 12:06 AM
  31. From a relative point of view, yes
  32. Macrologia - Today at 12:06 AM
  33. Because he "says what he means and doesn't care"? He lies all the fucking time
  34. Archimtiros - Today at 12:06 AM
  35. He's actually quite straightforward
  36. Macrologia - Today at 12:06 AM
  37. You're not basing that on anything
  38. No, he's straightforward about his disgusting opinions on things
  39. He lies about facts all the time
  40. Or is just completely misinformed, which isn't necessarily any better
  41. And he does flip flop on his stances on things a fair amount
  42. Less than Clinton probably, but nearly all politicans do that all the time
  43. Archimtiros - Today at 12:07 AM
  44. He has, I think every politician has
  45. I didn't say that he was completely trustworth
  46. I said he was moreso
  47. Macrologia - Today at 12:07 AM
  48. The point being, Trump isn't 'more trustworthy than Clinton'
  49. Archimtiros - Today at 12:07 AM
  50. that's subjective
  51. Point being
  52. there are reasons to support either/or
  53. Macrologia - Today at 12:08 AM
  54. And why would being 'more trustworthy than the other candidate' be a good basis on which to vote for a horrific individual with disgusting opinions and disgusting policies?
  55. Archimtiros - Today at 12:08 AM
  56. Because the persons disgusting opinions aren't the full picture
  57. Macrologia - Today at 12:08 AM
  58. No they're not
  59. Archimtiros - Today at 12:09 AM
  60. Because what happens in governing is more important to me than what he personally believes
  61. it wouldn't be the first time we had a president, or someone in power, with disgusting personal views
  62. and it won't be the last
  63. If someone supported Trump because they really think he has a good idea when he says "kick out all the minorities", then yeah, I'd think they were an idiot
  64. Macrologia - Today at 12:09 AM
  65. But you're saying that the 'good reasons to support trump' outweigh the 'good reasons to not support trump' by a bigger margin than the 'good reasons to support clinton' outweigh the 'good reasons no to support clinton'
  66. Archimtiros - Today at 12:10 AM
  67. But I wouldn't condemn someone for having a logical and reasoned idea for supporting either candidate either
  68. I'm saying that the good reasons to support trump outweigh the good reasons to support clinton
  69. there are good and bad for both
  70. In truth, I don't like either of them, I'd have happily rather had another candidate who wasn't scrapped from the bottom of the barrel, but this is what we were left with
  71. And I think this is exactly why people are so afraid to talk about politics, there's too much of a "my way or the highway" mentality. "If you don't agree with me you're wrong, against everything I stand for, and we can't be friends"; despite the fact that it only comes up once every 4 years
  72. Macrologia - Today at 12:14 AM
  73. that's completely retarded
  74. wtf
  75. i have plenty of friends with whom i disagree politically
  76. and i'm still friends with them
  77. Archimtiros - Today at 12:14 AM
  78. It is retarded
  79. and I didn't say you were doing it
  80. Macrologia - Today at 12:14 AM
  81. no, what you said was retarded
  82. but if one of them legitimately supported a disgusting person with disgusting policies, i would have to reconsider my friendship with them
  83. because it's just their political view, and we can keep it separate" is total nonsense
  84. Archimtiros - Today at 12:15 AM
  85. So... if you disagree with them politically, you can still be friends with them
  86. but if they support a disgusting person you can't?
  87. Macrologia - Today at 12:15 AM
  88. it means that they value those things, plus the other 'good things' about the candidate, more than they disvalue the opponents' negatives
  89. Archimtiros - Today at 12:15 AM
  90. That seems contradictory
  91. Macrologia - Today at 12:15 AM
  92. i can still be friends with someone with whom i have 'political differences', broadly speaking(edited)
  93. Archimtiros - Today at 12:15 AM
  94. And I don't think anyone wholly and completely supports everything about any candidate in any election of any country
  95. Macrologia - Today at 12:16 AM
  96. but i would not be friends with someone who e.g. hated gay people
  97. i would also not be friends with someone who voted for someone who hated gay people(edited)
  98. where that hatred of gay people would tend towards decreasing civil rights for gay people in a major nation
  99. Archimtiros - Today at 12:17 AM
  100. Well I expressed that I (don't support but would rather take) support Trump rather than Hilary, so I guess you get to decide whether that makes me a terrible human being or not
  101. Macrologia - Today at 12:17 AM
  102. Yes I do get to decide what my opinion of you is based on that
  103. Archimtiros - Today at 12:17 AM
  104. Vel already did. And I'm tired of you people judging me for things
  105. Macrologia - Today at 12:18 AM
  106. I get to judge you for whatever reason I like and you get to do the same
  107. That's how people form opinions of each other
  108. Archimtiros - Today at 12:18 AM
  109. I meant specifically whether you think that equates to "disagree politically" or "reconsider friendship because they support disgusting XYZ"
  110. Again, that "my way or the highway" mentality that is so prevalent today
  111. Macrologia - Today at 12:19 AM
  112. Re-using a phrase over and over doesn't make it make any more sense
  113. Archimtiros - Today at 12:19 AM
  114. I don't see what confuses you about it
  115. Macrologia - Today at 12:19 AM
  116. I don't only have friends who agree with me about everything
  117. Archimtiros - Today at 12:19 AM
  118. I didn't say you did
  119. I said it's a common mentality among people today
  120. Go look at twitter at all the people who say "If you support X, unfollow me now"
  121. that's a clear example
  122. Macrologia - Today at 12:19 AM
  123. Firstly
  124. People get to decide who they like talking to and who they want to interact with etc, for whatever reason they like
  125. "We have deep fundamental differences about what the world should be like" is a better reason than most
  126. Archimtiros - Today at 12:20 AM
  127. Nobody said they didn't
  128. Macrologia - Today at 12:20 AM
  129. You're clearly condemning the '"my way or the highway" mentality'(edited)
  130. Archimtiros - Today at 12:21 AM
  131. Under the circumstance that I laid out, the context of the conversation, yes, I am
  132. I believe in being openminded, but that's just me
  133. Macrologia - Today at 12:21 AM
  134. I also believe in being open-minded, I don't see how that is relevant
