  1. I agree to the most said above.. and i still feel there is something missing in the citys and in big parts of the world..
  2. The chat is nonexistent even when i try to talk in local no one answers and i have no friends which were invited to the Beta so it`s kinda boring for me to play. I am used to play in a Group.
  3. At all i send lots of ingame reports with many bugs i found and i am pleased to see its a real beta not something like finished and not released yet. :-)
  4.
  5. At the moment i am not into GW2 but it did not threw me off. So i will keep a closer look to it next time.

  9. Not going to comment on the rest, but I’ve also been having a real hard time with personal quests progressing in level faster than I could keep up, though it wasn’t very fun when they seemed just impossible. I’ve done all the hearts and tried hunting for World Events (as suggested on the forums elsewhere), but hunting for World Events to catch up often seemed aimless and counter-intuitive.

  18. i’ll post my own wall of text in here rather than starting up a whole new topic…
  19.
  20. I have played every class i have an interest in 1-10 and in structured pvp(not played ranger, elemenatalist or mesmer) as well as getting an engineer to 28 finishing the human starting area and playing in WvW and since i am working tomorrow i am now done with the beta as i will not be able to play all night again. I have logged about 40 hours of game time over the past few days and i love the game, its got a lot of what i hoped for but does have a few issues. I do not know your idea for a release date but sadly after seeing some of the bugs (which i have reported i game so will not bore you with here) i think it will be further away than i thought.
  21.
  22. the classes i’ve played that i had a few problems with;
  23.
  24. necro utility skills are sub par and the pet ai causes problems, hopefully they are working on the pet ai as it is nearly always a problem in all games at beta stage. the axe and daggers are great, but the necro has some issues with its range and the scepter is a little disappointing (i’ll come to condition abilities soon).
  25.
  26. warrior is great, good utilities and excellent damage. rifle is imo too good as it overshadows the other weapons for its role (its perfect for ranged single target kiting and its burst skill is insane) but this is a balanced class judging by the damage at 80 in pvp the low level damage balances out as the levels increase.
  27.
  28. thief is very very squishy and is actually quite challenging, i like pistol/pistol but its damage is in need of tweeking for 80 pvp, daggers are great, sword is fun but i didn’t use it much and i didn’t try shortbow as i kind of got stuck on unloading my pistols. the elites are lackluster and the utilities seem to be a little lacking again as well.
  29.
  30. guardian is insane, the healing ability is great and its support is very strong. in high end pvp it is very hard to die as a good player even 3v1 i could survive for 5 mins in structured pvp. i think this is probably the best of the classes that i tried out as it just feels and responds very well and fits in its role perfectly.
  31.
  32. engineer is good, there are a lot of options so i didn’t get to try everything but i pistol/pistol’d my way through 26 levels of pve, did some elixir and rifle pvp with a net turret and then tried my build out at lower levels in wvw. the pistol skills really come into their own at level 15 in pve but i think the engineers damage is a little low overall, the turrets are more useful as a mob distraction since their damage is quite low and they don’t add much to your character other than tanking (other than thumper which is a must have, i love thumper in pve since it takes, does ok damage and has an awesome ability). i have posted in another thread about kits so i will try to keep the engineer second short but i did spend most of my time on it, nades/bombs/mines are not that great, they are either hard to aim while maintaining movement or too easy to avoid, flamethrower/elixir i didn’t use to much but flame felt like lower damage than just pistols, didn’t use tool kit so no comment.
  33.
  34. The gameplay was fun, as i got to the end of the human zones available in the beta i encountered a Veteran centaur of some kind who dodged my snare and reflected my blind, i think as we get to a higher level that the combat will go from strength to strength however as always in mmo’s the first few levels seem to be an unneccessary chore after you have already done it once. unlocking weapon skills for classes like the warrior is also an excercise in frustration which could use some work, perhaps once you hit level 10 you unlock weapon skills at a much faster rate?
  35.
  36. dd vs dot, up to level 26 conditions have very little effect on a fight, stacking bleed is not something that ends fights quickly (as i got to the high teens it became better but is still not as good as straight damage) while weapon skills without an condition component appear not to pay the “condition tax” on damage and hit much much harder, this results in an engineer or necromancer taking 10+ shots to kill a monster than a guardian or warrior can 3-4 hit in seconds. its not a huge issue for me as from my experience i feel that at higher levels condition vs direct damage will even out however at lower levels it puts professions with conditions attached to their weapon abilites at a disadvantage (i would have used rifle on my engi but the lack of aoe was a problem).
  37.
  38. story, i did the whole story on my engi and then didn’t touch it on other classes as i will pick something different in release but i enjoyed the story. some of the instances were very hard but i did solo them all. the last instance i did at level 18 (quest was level 19) and it took me 5 mins of kiting to clear all the adds, this could do with tweaking as it wasn’t gamebreaking but the experience could be better. the story does somewhat tie you to your home lands due to the instance entrances being near appropriate level hearts, it would be nice if there was a way to quick travel to the instance entrance if you had been adventuring in another races zone.
  39.
  40. pve, we need more events and a better notifications system. i managed to level my engi very fast by memorising the event rotation in a zone, but if there was a zone commander who did a zone wide shout for events it would make it a lot easier to take part (there should also be an option to turn him off if you do add him in, i would hate to hear the shout everytime when i was just running around completing hearts for example). i did all the human hearts, completed nearly every event in the human area (the underwater ones were a [censored] but i’ll come to that in a second) and took part in a world boss fight in the swap which had really good rewards.
  41.
  42. Underwater combat is clunky and hard to get used to, it didn’t help that most of the engi skills still don’t work underwater, and its very very hard to avoid extra agro so removing some of the mobs from the underwater area’s might be handy. i don’t know how you plan your respawn rate but if it is based on the number of players in the local area it would be nice. Overall i would not be sad to never have to take part in underwater fights however i did still enjoy some of the bits of underwater combat i did.
  43.
  44. edit: the norn zone is quite confusing going from the the level 1-5 content to the higher tier content, that could use some better sign posting. Also worth noting is that when i took my human engineer to the charr zone there was no obvious mention of where i had to go to find level 15-25 content since it seems to be tied into the personal story which does not help when your away from your home lands.
  45.
  46. pvp, excellent, seems balanced at 80 in structured pvp. i had a few omg nerf moments when i fought a couple of good elementalists, one thief, one mesmer and one warrior but other than those 5 people (all in seperate games on various characters) i found that i was able to out play most of my opponents and to be honest each of the 5 people i had problems with were all very good players. just to have a little mini rant, one of the lightning ele’s killed my thief in such a short ammount of time i could barely react which was surprising as the time to kill seemed to be high throughout the game as a whole, however my heal skill was off cooldown and i did manage to escape and prolong my death by 10 seconds so maybe without him getting the jump i could have survived and escaped.
  47.
  48. wvw, its just like daoc thank you so much, you guys are awesome. now just teach people not to zerg everywhere and i’ll be happy. please do not listen to the requests to put more waypoints in to the wvw zone, however having a npc that provides a minor swiftness effect that lasts for say 5 mins or until you enter combat would be handy for covering long distances as it can be a little boring for a class thats solo without a speed effect (i do not think it would impace the balance of teams defending area’s as most teams will be chaining aoe swiftness buffs to get there fast anyway) as long as it does not stack with swiftness and does not persist once you have received or made an attack.
  49.
  50. craft/gather, i didn’t do any crafting but i have seen some videos and i am satisfied. honestly i’m not much of a crafter and as long as you don’t have a crazy crit based crafting system like aion i will be happy. gathering was as quick and painless as i have ever seen in an mmo and it was the first time i have ever gathered without thinking i was doing an actual job. i do not think that will be the same when i “have” to gather a certain number of mats for something that i want but just as i am wandering around it was good.
  51.
  52. social/guild, free guild making was good, we only had 2 people with beta invites so our guild was small however we had a play around and we like it. the social interations in the game need some work, i couldn’t get the LFG tab to work when i wanted to try to get into ascalon catacombs and the lack of a /who function made it very hard to find people of an appropriate level to try to form a group. i think some work is needed on this but its not a game breaker, it would be nice for people in release who do not have a guild group to go with to have some way of getting together for dungeons.
  53.
  54. there are so many things that i haven’t said as i have tried to keep my post constructive and on the point of things that i found issues with rather than things i loved but overall thank you for the beta invite and thank you for making such a wonderful game, good luck with the next few months!

  61. Lots of great feedback
  62.
  63. @Martin, I think the problem is — even though Arenanet is not promoting GW2 as mainly a PvP game, a lot of the community is. For example, I read somewhere that Arenanet is planning on running tournaments, hosting events, having prize money, etc. well that is all good and dandy but what about the PvE players? I, now after playing the Beta, know that GW2 is not mainly focused on PvP but a lot of the community paints it out to be that way
  64.
  65. Well, we will make sure that people are aware of the fact that we offer great PvE and great PvP
  66.
  67. To your other point: Another MMO on the market is having tournaments and prize money and stuff – noone calls them a PvP game. So it is again something that is just based on perception.
  68.
  69. END ARENANET DEV POST

  71. MORE FEDABCK
  72.
  73. ok so i will try not make this a massive wall of text because their are quite a few of these threads and im not very good with words anyways, i will use the same layout as makeshiftawesome.4813 as i find his to be a good layout, i will give my thought first then my suggestions at the bottom
  74.
  75. Player Vs Player
  76. 1. Pvp Lobby
  77. i really agree on the fact that this is an awesome idea where players can try out new moves, test new combos and buy armor, i love the way its free to get from the mist to the city ect, i really don’t feel you need a tutorial to get to this, it really wasn’t that hard just to scan through a few menu’s and be like “Oh whats this” BAM!
  78.
  79. 2. Competitive PvP
  80. i was really impressed by this, having not tried it out at Euro Gamers last year it was a new experience for me, and i loved it, i love the fact that it takes move than 3 skills to kill someone and you have to dodge and hide and come back and dodge again before you eventually manage to get one over on your opponent, what would be the point in having a dodge and heal if we never had to use it?
  81.
  82. 3. WvWvW
  83. Overall was extremely impressed with the WvW, i do think it needs some sort of “Tutorial” Type thing or pop up boxes saying “Buy blue prints” and “Collect Supply from your deport to buy siege weapons” or something as i was confused enough to have to watch a Yogscast video to work it out,
  84.
  85. Before /Team
  86. ok so before /Team was working it was a complete pain i couldn’t find anyone and no one was talking and when we did find people we didn’t have the right communication to get things really working
  87.
  88. After /Team
  89. well what can i say ^.^, just having a big World PvP chat channel made the world of difference!, everyone was talking knew where people was, and we ended up spending 4 hours trying to take a fort on Blacktide, then retreating coming back and it was sooo much fun, the combat was amazing and the siege weapons was awesome, though i kept dying XD.
  90.
  91. 4. Overall Impressions on Player vs Player
  92. Overall my impression was Amazing, i cannot wait to try out more PvP maps, (if there is more) i do not agree with the “If you are not ranged” the main reason being i was a thief and yeah? i died allot, but most if not all the classes have Melee and so if you are in a situation where you need some ranged dps, get out that ranged weapon, There was Plenty of times when i used “Leaping Death Blossom” and thought “Crap”, had 3 melee on me Dodge back switched to my pistols and visa versa, and that’s one of the thing PvP is about!
  93.
  94. Player Vs Environment
  95. 1. Personal Story
  96. A) I am a massive fan of JRpg’s and one thing they do well if anything is Story so, when i came to GW2 i had Extremely high hopes…. and you exceeded them in every way shape and form, having read the books i knew you guys had great writers, but i was at the edge of my seat, every time Logan or Rtylock was in my story, personally i love how you have done the cut scenes more so than other MMO’s that have done “Normal” ones, you have stuck to your “Artistic” Feel and reminds me of old RPG’s of the past. It was an amazing feeling knowing when your story was branching off into a different tree, example i was a Human Thief, that lived with nobles, at one point i had a choice either to go to a party and find information out from the guests or break into the guys house and find the information,
  97.
  98. B) the personal story did jump levels ofc it did, and that’s the only way it could be otherwise everyone would do their story and be like what now?, i didn’t feel like it went to fast though, ok i was 1 level lower all the time but i never felt it was too hard, and i am one who doesn’t attack every mob he lays eyes on to, if i was im sure i would have been the correct level .
  99.
  100. C) “The MMO has lost the ability to make the player feel like a hero” – Ree Soesbee.. i felt like a hero and i felt what i did made a difference
  101.
  102. 2. Dynamic Events
  103. i really don’t know what to say here, from big events like “Shadow Behemoth” to small ones like "teach the cows " it all felt so natural, i would be repairing my armor or selling items next thing i know Holbrak is being Over run and the tents are being burned down, its an amazing way of amazing the world feel alive and “Dynamic”
  104.
  105. 3. Leveling
  106.
  107. A. the leveling Curve was practically non existent which is good, it is what you guys was trying to do, i don’t think it was slow, don’t get me wrong it wasn’t Super fast, but it was just right, played for around 40hours and got to lv 30 so i am happy
  108.
  109. B. I am starting to sound like i am saying completely the opposite of the OP, but i really enjoyed the way i got new skills, it left allot better than going to an NPC and buying them, it felt more real and natural, it feels like my Hero is practicing his moves before he learns a new one
  110.
  111. 3. Skill challenges
  112. i have to agree on the skill challenges, whether it is just finding one while exploring, getting a cool Lore book to read or having to Beat on “King Rat Face” it was really fun
  113.
  114. 4. Dungeons*
  115. ok so i did manage to get a group for the dungeon and we was lucky enough to have a member of Arenanet with us, " Shade of Delusion", we didn’t wipe at all and once we knew what to do on the bosses after a few big hits on us we managed to get the hang of them, i loved the little puzzles and things that you normally find in offline games, though King Adelbern hits like a freaking truck XD
  116.
  117. Art Visuals
  118. 1. Characters
  119. i really liked the Customization options there was not too many like Aion’s it was just right so you was able to make a perfect character that ould fit the roll and not see monstrosities that run around in Aions world xD (if you have played it you know what i mean), the characters looked amazingly life like especially in the cut scenes.
  120.
  121. *2. Weapon/Armor *
  122. i do have too 100% Agree with the weapons and armor, i did play until i was 31 and i found 2 maybe 3 different looking tops, the rest i got looked exactly the same,
  123.
  124. 3. Environment
  125. now the last game i played was TERA and everyone was amazing with the graphics ect, and i was, until i played this, the Environment and graphics are gorgeous, the way the water looked the sky, hell even the swamp xD
  126.
  127. *Social
  128.
  129. 1. Friends*
  130. interface seemed normal enough but when trying to add a name friend i needed their E-mail, even though it shows their forum name?
  131.
  132. UI
  133. 1. Chat
  134. was nice and simple nothing out of the ordinarily
  135.
  136. 2. Functionality
  137. The UI worked really well – but could not move it
  138.
  139. 4. Text (Cut scene)
  140. During some of the quests in the story line a lot of the text and in voice dialogue did not mach, sometimes it was only small so that it was just “said differently” but other times it was a completely different thing
  141.
  142. Audio
  143. 1. Skill Effects
  144. you really outdone yourself with these, the skill effects sound stunning, (zzzzzappp) obv some skills and weapons was louder than others e.g. guns but if you shoot a gun it will be loader than a sword
  145.
  146. 2. Ambient
  147. wow just wow, everything is alive, so running though a city, and hearing people talk when you walk by, hearing kids playing, hearing crickets and frogs croaking whilst running through the swamp, amazing
  148.
  149. 3. Voice Over
  150. Now this is the thing people get really uptight aboout, because you have the “Anime Lovers” (like me) who HATE English voices and you have others that think they are fine, now…. i was incredibly surprised, i could hear some Really well know Voice actors ( Troy Baker “Logan Thackery” also “Snow Villiers from FFXIII”) (Yuri Lowenthal “Suzaku Kururugi – Code Geass”) not forgetting (Steve Blum – as Rytlock), Nolan North
  151.
  152. 5. Music
  153. not much i can say here, Jeremy Soule that is all
  154.
  155. now based on what i have played would i buy GW2… HELL YEAH!!! 10th April cannot come fast enough Collectors Edition for me, that being said here are my suggestions and things i would like to see implemented (I know its beta and things are not how they will be at release)
  156.
  157. WvWvW
  158.
  159. 1) Do not allow Siege weapons to be built Inside the fort walls, today we was trying to siege One of the Basses for 4 hours but the Blue team had siege weapons inside so every time we tried to get through BOOM!! cannon to the face!, in all seriousness though its something that could be game breaking for some people
  160.
  161. 2) Political Truce
  162. i am pretty sure you guys would have thought about this already and maybe it can’t be down, but when we was Sieging the Blue base the Greens decided they wanted some action as it ended up with All vs All, and i know some people might say that’s the whole point of it, but if there was some way we could have had a truce for say an hour every few days or so , im sure you guys at Arenanet will think of something
  163.
  164. PvE
  165. 1)Looking for Group tool,
  166. i know allot of you might have not needed it but when finding a group for a Dungeon it would be really handy im not asking for a cross server one HELL NO!!! i think cross server LFG tolls are a real Community breaker but just a tool we say show our group and let people apply and have a message like " LFM AC 28+"
  167.
  168. Social
  169. 1) Being able to add people by multiply different way, such as E-mail, Forum name or Character name, right now on the Friends list it looks like it shows their forum name and what character they are on, but if you try add someones forum name it say not valid email
  170.
  171. UI
  172. 1) now this is a major one for me, we need to be able to move the UI, im not asking for addons or anything silly just to move it around, i love playing in 3 Screens and GW2 looks Beautiful on 3 screens but the chat box goes on the Left hand screen and the Quests on the right hand screen, would be great if we could move them
