  1. Golden Sun Any% New Route
  2.
  3. What changed?
  4.
  5. Fx realised that getting Zephyr is a ~2:30 detour. Zephyr is one of the most useful djinn in the game (x2 agility + gives access to Procne) so for a long time getting the djinn was just assumed to be faster. Upon routing out a Zephyr-less any% we saved at least 60s before any optimisations and it became clear Zephyr skip would be optimal.
  6.
  7. What's the latest?
  8.
  9. The second revision of the route resulted in better SM/FD, Manticore, and Kraken strats.
  10.
  11. The third revision of the route (current revision) cut Dew from the route in favour of a completely new Retreat Warp in Suhalla Gate and reroute of the TR-Venus2 segment. This saves an additional 36s.
  12.
  13. How much time does this save over old Any%?
  14.
  15. I think we're saving in the vicinity of 3:30 minutes over the old Any% route. 2mins of that timesave comes from Zephyr (losing about 30s vs possible time save from Zephyr skip due to worse fights), 1 min comes from skipping Torch and Luff at the end of the game, and about 30s saved on Venus 2 optimisation (which was worked out for the All Djinn WR run).
  16.
  17. UPDATE: 36s additional timesave was found by skipping Dew, total time saved over the WR route is now around 4:00.
  18.
  19. Goal Time?
  20.
  21. WR is 3:20:27.
  22. Goal time is 3:16:xx.
  23.
  24. You keep cutting Djinn, can any more djinn be cut?
  25.
  26. Squall can be cut without affecting the endgame strategies and I have attempted to route this in. However thus far I haven't been able to cut Squall and not lose a ton of time in Colosso. Squall (and Hail) are important djinn since they allow us to have 17 djinn by Colosso. This allows Isaac to do Colosso with 5 djinn (4V+Scorch) which permits a very fast Colosso (stun from Scorch into Judgement and stuff). Cutting Squall (or Hail) turns Satrage into a wall that cannot be defeated within the timesave from skipping Squall (or Hail). Maybe this will change with some better routing but that's how things stand at the moment.
