  1. I couldn’t really see anything for a while. I remember stumbling through the door and into my bedroom to open the night desk’s drawer. I grabbed the package and started popping them out into my hand. One is enough. One is always enough. It wasn’t. I kept pushing more out until they were bouncing off the other ones in my hand and onto the floor. My vision was blurred from the tears. My head was splitting. I shoved them all into my mouth and swallowed. I choked. Some of them got down, I guess. Lots of them came out drenched in my saliva and fell onto the floor. I was gagging. My hand was on my throat and I collapsed. I was on all fours, gasping for air when I felt a sharp pain in my back. My elbow slipped and my face collided with the carpet. I felt something under my waist flip me over onto my back, and then there was a sudden pain in my gut. I heaved and looked up, and she was there.
  2. She pushed the very point of her foot into my stomach, standing on the tip of her other foot to drive it further in. I couldn’t breathe. In a swift movement she kicked me into my nightstand, making the small lamp atop it fall onto the ground, the light bulb shattering. The room became dark. I saw her saunter off to the other side of the room to flip the switch for the overhead light on. The room became unbearably bright and I could feel the tears streaming out of my eyes from the immense pain. I felt her kick me in the groin repeatedly and I immediately curled into the fetal position, rolling onto my side. Was she wearing heels? Why would she wear heels? It’s not like her to wear heels. She shouldn’t be wearing heels. She would never wear heels.
  3. “Get up.”
  4. I didn’t move. It was her voice. But it wasn’t right. It was shrill. It was painful. My head pounded even harder. I clutched it and grabbed at my hair, trying to pull it to draw my own attention away from the rest of the pain.
  5. “You never fucking listen, you little piece of shit!”
  6. I felt her grab my upper arm and throw me up. I floated for a bit and then she kicked me into the ceiling. My eyes shot open as I felt the dried paint stalactites dig into my back. If I wasn’t bleeding already, I certainly was now. I was drifting down when she grabbed me to hold me put in the air, upside down. I could feel the blood rushing into my head, and combined with the existing pain I felt as though it was going to burst. She slipped in front of my face, her body also upside down, like mine, yet her head was right-side up. There was a stern expression on her face, but there was a sudden change.
  7. She screeched and her eyes exploded into tiny gooey bits all over me. Three reptilian tongues in each hole took their places, writhing and flicking all about. Her teeth rotted right before my eyes and fell out and maggots came after them. Dozens, no, hundreds of moths streamed out of her throat to cover me, and I was defenseless. I tried to shut my eyes from the horror, my ears already a lost cause, but two of the tongues in each eye pried my lids open. When I resisted, the tongues swiftly ripped them off. I was screaming, but I heard nothing over the sound of her.
  8. Her body dislodged itself from the head, and like a hydra, two more took its place, but they were masked. The original head remained shrieking at me
