  1. Задание: People naturally resist making changes in their lives. What kind of problems can this cause? What solutions can you suggest?
  2. Эссе:
  3. The majority of people are naturally conservative: they usually refuse to make changes in their lives and often prefer to leave it as it is. And their unwillingness to make changes in their lives can often be a reason of some problems. For example, it can cause generations' conflicts: young people are usually more opened for making alterations, in contrast to elderly people who often decline any changes whichever they are. It's a typical situation when grown up child want to leave parents' home and, for example, move to other city or country for getting education but parents do not want him to leave, and therefore do not allow to do so. Another example is when people have the opportunity to move to another country but they reject it because, as they say, they are satisfied there, in the place when they live, even though changing of location would positively impact on their lives. Excessive conservatism can also cause come much more global problems. For instance, it is able to slow down or even stop the humanity's progress. We had already faced with it in the past. If you look at the history of Europe, you will see that Catholic church used not to permit every thought which contrasted with things that had been written in Bible. For example, the theories about spherical form of the Earth had already existed in the middle ages, but they had been prohibited. Who knows how developed we would have been now if those ideas hadn't been illegal.
  4. So, people's resistance to make changes in their life can cause problems and often for themselves. And I think that the best way to solve it, to persuade somebody and change his opinion, is to demonstrate and explain why he should make a change. And doing this, you must be very clearly. You must provide evidence and show how changing of his live will impact on him. In my experience, it is a very effective way. When my parents had decided to move from apartment to private house, I declined it. But they had persuaded me, they had shed light on advantages of living in private house and I had accepted. Not because I hadn't choice, but because I had been explained very clearly.
  5. The second way to overcome people's resistance to make change is forcing them to do so. But personally I think that it is a terrible method because people must have a freedom of choice.
  6. And finally, if you couldn't persuade somebody to make change in his life, just deal with it. It is his own life and he is let live it how he wants to. Conservatism is not always a problem that requires a solution.
