Rarity was very unhappy. She had been working on her latest project, creating a set of outfits for Sapphire Shores’ next big performance. The perfect designed had alluded her, however, and she kept drawing up new sketches of what she wanted, only to find they were not she wanted after all. In short, she was unhappy.

The fly was not helping her anger recede.

It had shown up in the last hour, pestering her no matter how much she tried to shoo it away. It avoided her hoof no matter how much she swung at it. It only added to her anger as she worked.

At last Rarity let out a cry of anger. She was working herself to the bone, and this mere bug dared to pester her without end? No more!
The fly was right in front of her face, just hovering as if it was mocking her. Her eyes squinted as she focused, raising her forelegs up, the offending insect in the air between her hooves.

Sometimes Twilight hated magic.
She and Fluttershy had come to check on Rarity, for she had not left the house in the last two days, when she heard the sound of a balloon popping behind them. In her surprise, she had let off a shrinking spell, affecting herself, Fluttershy, Sweetie Belle(who had just opened the door), a few ponies who were passing by, and the three would-be pranksters who caused her surprise.

Twilight calmed everyone down in the ensuing panic. Apparently Rainbow Dash, Pinkie Pie, and Applejack were planning on knocking on the door, only to hide in the bushes when Rarity or Sweetie answered, popping the balloon to surprise them. When Twilight and Fluttershy walked up, they took the chance to prank the two of them instead.

Twilight took a head count: Herself and her friends, Sweetie, Caramel, Carrot Top, Bon Bon, and Lyra.

She decided that the best course of action was to obtain Rarity’s attention. They all separated to different parts of the house: Fluttershy and Sweetie at the door; Pinkie, Lyra, and Bon Bon to the kitchen; Rainbow and Caramel to the dining room; Carrot Top to Rarity’s bedroom; and Twilight and Applejack to Rarity’s studio.
When she and Applejack arrived, Twilight took the initiative, immediately flying up to the fashionista to get her attention. Apparently Rarity thought she was a fly, swinging her hoof at in an attempt to swat her, but she managed to dodge just in time, hanging back for a few minutes each time just in case she swung again.

Suddenly, Rarity let out a cry of anger, and stopped what she was doing, which seemed to just be drawing and ripping up paper.
Twilight hovered in front of her face. Rarity squinted her eyes, as if she was focusing, and Twilight thought she had finally been recognized.

 It wasn’t until they were coming to together that she noticed the pair of giant hooves off to her sides.

*SMACK*
Rarity smiled with triumph as her she crushed the fly between her hooves. She pulled them apart and the wounded insect fell to floor.
Her lips parted into a grin as she lifted her hoof.

Twilight let out an unheard cry of pain as she fell to the floor, breaking a few more bones as she made impact. She could only look up at her former friend in terror as a white hoof lifted over her.
“Bye, buggie”
The hoof came down upon her, crushing the alicorn like the bug she had become.

Rarity let out a laugh as she twisted her hoof, grinding the bug into a fine paste. The pest had been dealt with. She grabbed a tissue with her magic, wiping the bug guts from her hoof and floor, paying no mind to the unusual red color.
She decided that she needed a break to let off some steam, so that she could calm down, so she left the room, unknowingly coming close to crushing a shell-shocked Applejack. Deciding to put on her best robe and slippers so she could relax, she headed towards her bedroom.
