- I woke up at four in the morning without an alarm going off. Without knowing why, I made toast and tea for Olivia. Maybe I wanted to be nice? At 4:30, she came out from her room dressed for her job at a the coffee shop. Even in the early morning, she looked beautiful.
- She wore black tights and a black pencil skirt, along with a white shirt to offset the dark colors of the outfit. Of course, she had on a pair of scuffed, beat-up black flats, which were her work shoes. I wondered how long she had owned that pair-- I never saw her wear another pair of shoes to work. One day, she left them in the living room and the other roommates teased her so much about the smell that she agreed to only keep them in her room. I didn't think they smelled bad-- like coffee and girl sweat but you know how girls are when they pick out something to complain about.
- "Thanks for making me breakfast, Nick! I'll need you to do this every Monday and Wednesday, so I can sleep in a little bit more. Okay?"
- She wanted me to wake up in the middle of the night every week, just so she could get a few minutes extra of sleep? I was about to tell her off, but I couldn't find the words.
- "Yeah, sure," I murmured.
- "Thanks!" she said, smiling at me. "Hey, since you're awake, can you go out and start my car? Just wait out there with the heater on, so it's warmed up for me."
- Olivia handed me her keys and then ignored me. I rolled my eyes, then walked out into the cold morning to start her car for her. In about 10 minutes, just as the car was warming up, she came out and took over.
- "Make sure you're here when I get back at like 2. Pick up a few bottles of Avernia mineral water for me, and ask Chandra for some more of that massage oil she has. My feet hurt so much after working for 8 hours. See you later!"
- Olivia got in her car and drove off, and I went back into the house to go to sleep. When I tried to enter my room, the door was locked though! I guess Chandra must have locked it, not knowing that I didn't have a key. I thought it was a little weird that she would lock her door when it was just her friends in the house, but I was too tired to think. I laid down on the couch that Olivia and Marie were sitting on last night, and went to sleep.
- "Nick, wake up!"
- I jerked awake in the early morning. It was sunny outside, and Marie and Chandra were standing over me.
- "Nick, what the hell? Why are you sleeping on the couch?" Marie asked.
- "Chandra locked me out of my room," I murmured, still waking up.
- "This couch is from my dead grandma, does it look like a bed? You drooled all over it!" Marie told me.
- "I'm sorry. Where else was I supposed to sleep, though?"
- "Why were you sleeping at all? You have a lot of work to do. You still haven't mopped the floor. See how dirty it is?" Chandra said, pointing down. I looked down at Marie and Chandra's feet. Marie's feet were larger than Chandra's, and her toes were longer, but they were all beautiful. Chandra must have been a size 5, her feet looked so dainty. Chandra was wearing pink nail polish, and Marie's toes were unpainted and very well taken-care of.
- "Nick, look at how much dirt is on my feet!" Chandra said. Then she raised the sole of her feet so it was right in front of my face. Sure enough, she had a few specks of dirt on her otherwise immaculately clean feet.
- "This isn't okay. We have to punish you so this doesn't happen again. What do you think it should be?" Chandra asked Marie.
- "Let's take away his furniture privileges," Marie said, her eyes flashing with cruel delight. Chandra smiled.
- "Good idea! Nick, you can no longer sit on the furniture from here on, unless one of us gives you permission. Now get off the couch and clean the floor!"
- Like lightning, I got off the sofa. I was about to talk back to Chandra, but she handed me a canvas bag that was full of scraps of cloth.
- "What are these for?" I asked.
- "Those are for you to clean the floor! I don't want you using a mop, since they just move the dirt around. I want you to get on your hands and knees and use these rags to clean the floor. Throw each one into your hamper when you finish with it, so you can wash it and re-use it later. We're heading to class now, but I expect this to be done by noon."
- "It will have to wait until tonight, I have class in an hour," I responded.
- "Well, you should have done it earlier! In any case, get this done before you go to class. I hate the feeling of coming home to a dirty place. See you!"
- Marie and Chandra left, slipping on their flip flops before they went out the door. I was left holding a bag of rags, with a big job ahead of me. Looking through the rags, I noticed that a lot of them seemed to be old pairs of girls' socks. I filled a bucket with water, and started cleaning the floor in the living room.
- Nadine and Janie woke up at noon, as I was finishing the last corner of the floor. They smiled, admiring my handiwork as they walked around barefoot.
- "Wow, this is so clean! You could eat off this floor!" Janie said, running her bare feet over portions of it arbitrarily.
- "Good job, Nick! You'll have to do this more often," Nadine said to me. "Ugh, my nail polish chipped. You want to get pedicures tonight?"
- "Sure!" Janie answered.
- "Okay. Nick, be around at 6 tonight so you can do our toes. You ready to go Janie?"
- "Yeah. Hey Nick, I need your help with an econ project. I'll explain it to you tonight when you're polishing my toes."
- They both laughed as they went out, leaving me alone in the apartment. I had a couple of hours before Olivia came back, so I went into my room and sat at my desk to read. Suddenly, I remembered that Olivia wanted me to buy some fancy mineral water, so I drove out to pick some up. I forgot to ask Chandra for her massage oil, so I went inside her room to pick up a bottle of almond oil. With all that done, I finally expected to get some of my own work done, but I was interrupted by someone unlocking the front door.
- Olivia walked in, wearing a pair of designer sunglasses and carrying a paper coffee cup. She forgot to take her flats off, walking in to collapse on the couch.
- "Today was the worst! I hate opening shifts. One of the other girls spilled iced coffee on me, and my legs got totally soaked!"
- Olivia reached under her skirt and started removing her stockings. I couldn't help but stare as this beautiful girl basically stripped in front of me.
- "Don't get so excited Nick, I'm not trying to impress you!" Olivia giggled. She handed me her balled up stockings. "Put these into my hamper and come right back. My feet are really sore from running around all day."
- As I was walking away, she called out to me, "Bring the bamboo bowl on my desk here on your way back!"
- Her stockings were still warm, and I felt myself getting turned on from holding them. I went down the hall to her room, and tossed them into her hamper, and grabbed the large wooden bowl from her desk. It looked like a popcorn bowl, but larger-- large enough that I needed two hands to carry it comfortably.
- I got back to Olivia to see her stretching her legs out, admiring her white pedicure. Her feet had red and pinkish marks on them, I guess from being confined all day. I handed Olivia the bowl, and she asked me to bring her the bottles of mineral water I bought for her. I expected her to drink the water, but she surprised me.
- Olivia set the bowl on the ground in front of her, then placed both of her feet inside of it. Then she opened one of the bottles, and started pouring it onto her feet!
- "Ah! That feels so good! I read about this in a health magazine. It's good you got the sparkling kind, that makes a difference," she told me as she filled her luxury foot bath. "This is supposed to make your entire body feel younger. The water's so expensive, though!"
- Olivia poured both bottles into the bowl-- they had cost me more than $9.
- "This is where you come in," Olivia said to me, getting out a paper coffee bag and tossing it over. I looked inside to see it full of used coffee grinds.
- "I want you to take Chandra's massage oil, and use those coffee grinds to exfoliate my feet as you give me a massage. It shouldn't take more than an hour, and it'll be good for your hands too!"
- "Are you serious?" I asked her.
- "Yes! Now get started soon, I don't want this water going flat," she ordered, pointing at the floor in front of her.
- Things had gotten really strange since Chandra had moved in. But Olivia had always been nice to me in the past, so I saw no reason to deny her this little thing. She even tossed me a pillow to stay on as I knelt in front of her.
- I put some coffee grinds in my hand, and poured some of Chandra's massage oil on top, then took one of Olivia's feet out of the water. After most of the water had dripped off of it, I begin firmly massaging her feet, careful to press the grinds into her soles. I could feel their gritty texture as they rubbed against the bottom of Olivia's feet, gathering dirt and dead skin cells along their journey.
- "Oh my god, that feels amazing! I didn't know it would feel this good! Keep going, Nick!"
- With Olivia's encouragement, I continued exfoliating and massaging her feet. She got out her cell phone and started texting, mostly ignoring me except for occasional commands like "do my toes now," or "rinse it off in the water and use new grinds on my feet."
- The entire process took more than an hour, and it was oddly erotic giving this beautiful young girl an extended foot massage. She kept sighing and moaning as I worked on her feet-- I felt good for making her so happy. Eventually, though, I ran out of coffee grinds. She rinsed both her feet off in the basin of water (now full of coffee grinds and oil), then had me fetch her a towel so I could dry her feet.
- "Nick, my feet look amazing! Aren't they beautiful?" Olivia said, holding her feet above the bowl. I had to admit they looked good-- her skin was fresh, healthy and unbelievably clean. I guessed her feet to be a size five, and her toes were slender and dainty.
- "Yeah, they look great," I told her.
- I picked up the bowl, ready to dump it outside but she stopped me.
- "Nick, are you about to dump that water?"
- "Yeah, why, do you want to keep it?" I asked, jokingly.
- "You can't just dump it out! It'll go down the storm drain and into the ocean-- we can't waste fresh water like that!"
- "Okay, I'll pour it onto a tree."
- "You're going to pour Avernia drinking water onto a tree? That's a waste of perfectly good water! Here, hand me the bowl."
- I didn't think that water from her foot bath was "perfectly good," but I handed her the bowl anyway. She took one of the water bottles and submerged it into the wooden bowl, filling it up with the water, oil, and coffee grinds. When that bottle was full, she put the lid back on and set the wooden bowl back on the floor.
- "Okay, just drink the rest of that water and you'll be done!" Olivia said, pointing at the wooden bowl with her feet.
- "What? No way! I don't want to do that!"
- "Nick, don't argue with me. I'm not in the mood. Just get on your knees and drink the rest of that water. Look, there's even a lip on the bowl to make your job easier," Olivia said.
- I knelt in front of her again, and sure enough, there was a lip in the bowl I hadn't noticed before. Olivia stared at me until I took the wooden bowl in both hands, and raised it to my mouth. I couldn't believe what I was doing-- I expected to feel sick but the water didn't taste all that bad. It was a little bitter, and a little salty, but it was drinkable.
- "Slow down, Nick. Don't drink too fast or you'll get a stomach ache," Olivia chastised me, annoyed at the fact I was trying to down it as soon as possible. I slowed down and drank her foot bath more carefully, the taste seeping deeper into my tongue. When I had drank the rest of the water, I set down the bowl in front of her. She was grinning at me, wide.
- "Did you like it?" she asked
- "Not really, I wish you didn't make me do that," I answered, honestly.
- "Boo hoo! Don't be such a baby. It's better than wasting drinking water. Do you know how much water it takes to produce a single plastic water bottle? I'm not going to waste it just because you have weird hang-ups," Olivia explained. How could she think it was a 'hang-up' that I didn't want to drink water that she had just soaked her feet in?!
- "Just one more thing. I see some coffee grinds and water at the bottom of the bowl. Could you just lick those up, and then you can wash the bowl out and be done with it?"
- "That's gross! I don't want to lick up the bottom of the bowl, that's where all the dirt is, resting at the bottom!"
- "Nick, just do this one more thing for me, please. I really don't like wasting anything, we all have to put an effort in to conserve resources."
- I knew I wasn't going to win this argument, so I lowered my head in the bowl and began licking the bottom of it. It was a mixture of coffee grinds, dirt, and a little water. In spite of the content, the stuff didn't taste bad: a little salty, a little sweet and a little bitter. It was gritty, though. The ordeal took a while, but when I was finished, Olivia looked on with approval.
- "Great job, Nick! You don't know how important it is to me, that we didn't waste a single drop of water. I promise I'll make this up to you later."
- Olivia got up and went to her room, taking the bowl with her. I felt a little pain in my stomach from all the water I had drank, so I went to my bed and laid down. Her taste was stuck in my mouth. I ate a cup of yogurt out of the fridge to clear the taste from my mouth. It didn't belong to me, but I figured I could just replace it before anyone noticed. If I had realized the consequences of that small action, I would have just been content the taste of Olivia's feet.
