  4. Read THIS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  5. Please. Please read this. I need you to read this. This is probably going to be the only chance I have at telling somebody what happened to me. I'm going to try my best to explain what happened. I'm scared. I'm in the basement right now and I can here them upstairs. They're in the kitchen and pounding on the FUCKING door. I'll try to be as coherent as possible but if this suddenly ends then it means I wasn't able to finish. Okay, well, here it goes.
  6.
  7. This is my house. In case this, well, I don't know really what to call this, but in case you find these papers in another place my house resides in Walpack, Oregon. It's the big red victorian at the very end of Germantown Road on the other end of town. I live here with my girlfriend Kate and my best friend Chris. There isn't much to do around these parts but the area we live in is beautiful. The mountains stretch for miles and the green hue that surrounds the town like an aura is a sight to see. The town is small, residing only about 600 people, and besides the many parks and the mall in the adjacent town, there really isn't much to do. I like having nothing to do. I work all day and when I have a day off all I really want to do is relax but that tends to get old fast. Kate and Chris tended to drag me out of the house on weekends and find things to do. We started to go on hikes through the forrests because Chris was convinced that we'd be going to hell if we didn't take up the opportunity to enjoy the scenery that we lived around. Every once in a while we'd take a day trip a couple hours upstate to Hardyston Point.
  8.
  9. It was a week ago. Kate dragged me out of bed and Chris was already waiting downstairs with his pack on ready to go. They waited until we got ready and we headed for Hardyston. The drive went by as normal as it could have been. It was a very nice day out. The clouds were huge which gave the sun places to hide behind. It was gorgeous out. We got to Hardyston and began our hike. We liked to hike around the mountain a bit and take the back trail up so that we can head down the front trail and never take the same path. It took us about two hours to reach the top of the mountain.
  10.
  11. I guess you could say that the top of Hardyston Mountain was famous. The point had a gorgeous view of the range overlooking the valleys and nooks of nearby mountains. I didn't mind getting up early to come out here. We ate lunch at the point and started packing up to go back down the mountain. Chris was using the bathroom that they had put at the top and as we were waiting for him I noticed something in the grass. When I went over I saw that it was a camera, a video camera. I picked it up and was looking at it when Chris came over. Chris had a small interest in cameras so I let him examine it. He said it was in pretty good shape besides being a bit dirty I asked him if it turned on and he said no but it looked like it was only a dead battery. Chris put it in his bag and we continued on our hike. It took us three hours to get down the mountain and a couple hours more to get home.
  12.
  13. I was exhausted when I got home and hit the bed early. Kate and Chris decided to stay up and check out what was on the camera, if anything. about forty minutes I get woken up by Kate and Chris. They're both pounding on my bed telling me I need to get up and see this. Groggy, I get out of bed and head towards the living room. The camera is on the floor hooked up to the tv and paused. I ask them if they found some interesting footage and they say it's best to just watch it. I notice that they're both not smiling. Chris presses play. I'll try to describe it as best as I can considering it's the only time I've seen it.
  14.
  15. The footage is dark but then breaks into light as you see two muddy boots walking on a dirt path. There isn't much to hear besides the footsteps of what I am only going to pressume is a large man walking in the woods. After about thrity seconds a second sound is heard. It's faint at first but then the footsteps grow faster as if he's walking closer to something and the sound gets louder. A whimper is heard. In the corner of the frame you can see a chain swaying in and out of frame. The whimpering grows louder and closer until the camera starts to pan up and we see that the man walking in the woods is not alone. The figure of a woman is seen, mostly naked except for a dirt and sweat stained tee shirt and dirty underwear. She is bound at the wrists, blood dripping from the lacerations cause by being tied together with what seems to be copper wire. The wire is connected to a padlock which is also connected to a small chain which leads back to the cameraman's hands. He leading this woman through the woods bound and now as she turns her head we can see that she is also gagged.
  16.
  17. I finally begin to react. I ask what the hell this is that we're watching and they turn around, shoosh me, and tell me to keep watching. My eyes turn back to the screen.
  18.
  19. The man begins to make noises again. I can tell that the woman is trying to talk through her gag but all that is heard is muffled cries for help. It is then that we see the camera pan down as if the cameraman was checking something on the camera. What comes into view is a shiny object on his hip that is covered in blood. The knife was large by comparison to his owner. It could have been a machete. The ends were stained in blood. The camera pans back up and that's when I noticed that I knew where they were. Right up ahead was the entrance to the bathroom of Hardyston Point. I could see the adjacent mountains starting to loom in the horizon and my stomach began to drop as the woman turned around and stopped. She tried pleading with the man, fear filling her eyes, in hope that he would show some mercy. In an instance she was kicked down to the ground by one of those enormous boots and a hairy dirty hand reached across the frame and came back with the knife.

  21. I had had enough. I turned off the television. I asked them if they had seen any more of this and they told me they had only seen the first minute or so. We all stood there in awe. Kate began to rationalize and said that we stumbled across some film students horror film. Chris didn't say much but I could tell he was as spooked as I was. I didn't know what to think. Whether it was real or fake I decided that I wasn't going to watch another second of it and advised Kate and Chris to do the same. I told Kate I was going to bed and she followed me. We didn't talk much as we lied there and sooner than later I fell asleep.
  22.
  23. I woke up and headed towards the kitchen and met Chris along the way. He looked like he had been awake all night. I asked him if he had trouble sleeping and he said he hadn't even tried to go to sleep. I asked him why and he said he just couldn't get himself to go to bed. I looked over toward the living room and noticed that the camera was still in the middle of the floor and a blue screen displayed on the television. I aksed him what he had been doing all night and he shrugged. I asked him if he watched any more of the tape and he said a little. I knew he watched the whole thing. I made him tell me and he confessed that he watched the whole thing. I asked him how much was left and he said about an hour. I asked him waht happened and he said nothing, just a lot of walking in the woods. I had known Chris for years. He's my best friend. He's rarely been this reserved and it worried me.
  24.
  25. The time for worrying ran out when I realized it was time for me to go to work. I kissed Kate goodbye and headed out.
  26.
  27. When I got home Kate was eating dinner. I asked her where Chris was and she said that he had gone out a couple hours ago but he didn't say where he was going. I found this odd but the guy was his own man so I ate dinner, watched some tv, and eventually fell asleep. I got up the next morning as usual and worked a full day. On my lunch break I called Kate and asked her where Chris was last night and she said that he still hasn't been home. As if by design I heard a ring in my ear and noticed Chris was calling me. I told her I'd be home at five and that I had to take a call , it was Chris. By the time I hung up it was to late and Chris's call went to voicemail. I called Chris and got no answer. I waited and eventually my phone said that I had a voicemail. I listened. This is as close as I can remember it. Chris's voice was odd. He sounded completely mechanical. It was like he was reading off a cue card. I didn't understand. This is what he said.
  28.
  29. "It's Chris. I found something. There was something at the end of that tape that I couldn't understand. I didn't tell you. I'm sorry. I need to explain. Meet me at Hardyston Point and I'll explain everything."
  30.
  31. It just didn't sound like Chris. I mean, it was his voice, but it just didn't sound like him. I tried calling him back but his phone. was off. Meet him at Hardyston Point? That was hours away. He didn't even tell me what time he'd be there. I couldn't take off work so I decided to think about it when I got home.
  32.
  33. When I got home Kate wasnt there. This was odd. She was always home. I tried her cell and didn't get an answer. I guessed that something came up and I layed down and thought about what I should do about Chris. I couldn't go up there today. If he was up there, let him be mad at me. I just can't drive hours out of the way, especially with Kate not home. I eventually fell asleep.
  34.
  35. When I woke up it was nearly midnight. Kate wasn't home. There was no note. I looked around the house and I didn't find any evidence that Kate had come home at all. I tried her cell. No answer. Now I was worried. I call Chris again. No answer. I turned on my computer and went to the local news site to see if there was anything, any clues as to what may be going on. Nothing. I decided to wait. I waited, and waited, and waited until it was nearly dawn. I decided that there was something up and I went to the police stattion.
  36.
  37. I made a missing persons report for both Kate and Chris. Neither of them were answering their phones and had not contacted a single person in nearly 24 hours. The officer assigned to me was asking me questions about recent events or any motive either of them would have to not coming home. He asked me if there was a possibility of a love interest between them and I dismissed it. I mean it could be possible but the two of them have known each other for years and if that was the case it probably would have happened already. The officer told me to go home and wait by the phone just in case, so I did.
  38.
  39. I sat on my couch in silence thinking about what the hell was going on. Myabe I should go up to Hardyston Point. Chris said that's where he'd be but the odds that he is still there are slim. I sat on the couch until I finally fell asleep.
  40.
  41. In the middle of the night I awoke from probably the worst nightmare I have ever had in my life. I was dripping with sweat and couldn't breathe. In my dream I had been lying in bed with Kate. I wake up and am freezing. I notice the window open behind me and rise to shut it. As I step on the floor I hear the rustle and crunch of leaves and feel dirt course between my toes. I stare down and spread all over my bedroom floor are twigs, leaves, dirt, and rocks. I turn back to Kate and see that she is face away from me, her hands bound behind her back. Her hands were blue from being tied and there was blood dripping on the bed from the cuts around her wrists. I'm frozen with fear. I call her name and she turns around. Her face is distorted. Her face is too braod and her nose looks flattened like she was leaning up against a window. Her eyes are shiney and black. She's grinning. There are too many teeth in her mouth. I can't move. She begins to talk. Odlly I was expecting something more frightening but in her normal voice she tells me that she has something to show me. That if she meets me at Hardyston Point she'll explain everything. Then I woke up. I swear I can smell the fall leaves.
  42.
  43. The next day was a lot like the first. I decided that I wasn't going to go back to work until this was all figured out. I waited at home all day by the phone. I was sitting in the kitchen when all of a sudden I hear the television blasting in the living room. In depertion I had thought maybe Kate or Chris came home and turned it on but when I got there nobody was there. The television was blasting words at me and brighter than I ever thought a television could be. It was a news report about how a few bodies have been found on top of Hardyston Point, all of them with their hands tied behind their backs, bound and gagged. The news anchor looks directly at the camera, directly at me, and says that I need to get up to Hardyston Point, that there is something he needs to show me and that he'll explain when I get there.
  44.
  45. I unplug the television and realize that I'm cold again. The apartment is freezing. I can feel the breeze rushing through the house and race to the kicthen to shut all the windows. Just then the phone rings. It was Kate's mother. The police must have contacted her. She said that she was sorry she hadn't called me sooner. I said it was okay . Kate's mom told me that the police had found her car up near Hardyston Point. I nearly threw up. I couldn't comprehend what the fuck was going on. She must have heard that was was surprised because she told me to calm down. I asked her how I can be calm right now. She told me not to worry. I just had to meet the officer up at Hardyston. There was something he needed to show me.
  46.
  47. I slammed the phone down. I ran in to the room and shut the door. I don't know what the fuck is going on. Should I go to Hardyston? What if it's not safe. Why is everybody acting so strange. I craddled the blankets until I fell asleep.
  48.
  49. Another nightmare. God, I hope it was a nightmare. I woke up hearing tapping on my bedroom window. I tried to ignoreit but it persisted. Then I heard it. It was Kate's voice. She kept calling my name. Our bedroom is on the second floor. I couldn't turn around. She just kept calling my name. Her voice was soft and subdued. She told me she needed to show me something. I closed my eyes so hard they hurt. I squeezed them shut and flooded my mind with happy memories. I didn't sleep. I just numbed my senses until I could feel the heat of the morning sun on my back. I got up and realized that it had been days since I got any real sleep. It had been a week since we found the tape. There was still no actual sign of my best friend and girlfriend.
  50.
  51. I went into the living room and the doorbell rang. I smelled dead wood and wet moss. I heard the rustle of the leaves on the nearly naked fall trees. I didn;t answer the door. I stood there. A voice was heard behind the door. It was the officer I had talked too earlier in the week. He said he had something to show me. I heard Kate's mother. She said that she had Kate with her and that I just needed to open the door and they could both explain. I heard Chris. He said that he was alright and that if they could only take me up to Hardyston Point they could explain everything to me.
  52.
  53. I ran downstairs to the basement. I didn't know where else to go. I heard them open the door and walk around upstairs. I sat down and began to cry. There wasn't a way out from down here. Eventually they were going to figure out where I was and then I don't know what. I found a typewriter down here with some paper and decided to write this all out. That way if somebody normal were to find this, they'd know what happened. I wish I could explain this more clearly to you. Perhaps if you saw what I'm talking about. Perhaps if you saw firsthand what has been haunting me for the past week. Perhaps if you met me at Hardyston Beach I could show you.
