Redwood grove still standing, but still under threat from UC

The redwood trees made it through the UC Berkeley spring break week.  There was a concern that the break would be the most opportune time for the UC to remove the trees to make way for the Paul Jacobs Design Institute, as the ground breaking ceremony is slated for 2 weeks away.

However, the UC still has not committed to moving the privatized design research center to another location on campus that would not require the removal of redwood trees.  As such, the community will continue to fight against the proposed cutting down of the grove of trees at Ridge Road and Le Roy Avenue, Berkeley.
