  1. Bordering the Backar Forest, just west of the plains proper, the Barony of Scutari is a quiet Molthuni community of good reputation but little strategic importance founded three generations earlier. As the second son born to Fernando and Leora, Elio was well groomed as the spare; fit to continue the family line should misfortune strike Piero. Life in Scutari is not particularly luxurious - even the lord himself must roll up his sleeves and aid come harvest-time. Still, Scutari remains free of the more intense political games in the cities and has grown at a safe but snail-like pace.

While the spoon in his mouth may have been a rather cheap silver plating, Elio was nevertheless given a comparatively excellent education, and hands-on training from having to deal - as anyone in the region occasionally must - with the occasional fey-hunt or ambush from the barony's civilization-loathing neighbors in the woods providing him with hands-on, if well protected, training. Perhaps it was the combination of living with the land and being a member of the local rulers, but what magical potential Elio held took-after and was progressively honed by Molthune itself.

Cementing his position as heir apparent was Piero who is well loved by the locals, and with Davide a healthy growing child, it has become increasingly acceptable for Elio to handle minor issues at the edges of the domain, or even to take the Scutari's interests abroad, culminating in Elio - rather than Davide in a few years - leaving to perform national service while undergoing squiredom. Finally knighted at 21, the second son left the heir and new spare; to send home glory, new hands, and spread the Scutari name across Molthune
