  1. Auroraclears:
  2. As one of the number of people that can likely be counted on the finger of one hand who has been banned from the lobby I've been perplexed with the question of just what exactly is the code of conduct that I have apparently breached to a degree far more severe than 90% of this website's occupants. I have disputed the issue over on flame wars already in this thread, chiefly against one-shot replies by people who ceased to contribute any further once they realized how wrong they were. Regardless, while points were made or have been attempted to be made on both sides the discussion steered in no meaningful direction except away from either its purpose or that of the original thread itself. So a separate topic in the appropriate section is probably more appropriate in trying to discern what rules exactly there are for me or anyone else to be capable of breaking.
  3. According to DysprosiumDy's reply in the thread I linked, the sole rule of the lobby is to "not be a dick". Whether a rule that's stated as vaguely and indeterminately has any place in serious consideration or enforcement is up for debate. It is worth pointing out however that nowhere on the website does it explicitly list "not being a dick" as a lobby rule and even if any other complications with such a vaguely worded rule are disregarded expecting the community to follow it from whatever random tidbits of lobby conversation they may be present for is ludicrous to say the least. That being said, the terms of use do list certain guidelines as pointed out by Jackassrabbit earlier. Whether these guidelines should be or are enforced as a set of actual rules should is up to debate. What can be definitely discerned at this point however is:

  5. Auroraclears says: lelel good luck w that
  6. That's my definition of trolling. Also, when a new player asks a question and you do /randomemote lulz.
  7.
  8. As evidenced by this quote from Dysprosium, the message "lelel good luck with that" at the very least constitutes a form of trolling, and therefore a potentially bannable offense. "/randomemote lulz", whatever on earth that even means, is also apparently classed as trolling by the admins at least if it happens to coincide with new lobby users asking questions. Whether these rules are consistently adhered to (eg if a random lobby user typed out "lelel good lock w that" or, god forbid "/randomemoted lulz" they would get banned or at the very least reprimanded) is once again up to debate.
  9. Now let's look at what's not apparently classified as trolling, being a dick, or any other potential breach of the rules by the administrators:

  22. Keep in mind that I don't usually keep a record of lobby activity and these are merely the examples I've managed to dig up from glossing over a variety of recent pastebins concerning lobby activity; a few minutes spent in the lobby while kittypants, Chimney, mat and numerous other members are online should provide you with a multitude of further examples of what is not considered against the rules.
  23. It should be obvious for this point that there is very little consistency in these rules, when they should be enforced, or whether they are even always applicable in the few times enforcement did happen, and since the thread currently on flame wars is currently receiving very little feedback apart from insubstantial one liner posts by Wishie and Laurie I'm hoping bringing the topic here would provide more in terms of an actual discussion regarding identification and enforcement of whatever the rules of the lobby are.

  26. The BGO lobby is not, say, a country. We do not have a law with lawsuits and lawyers and judges. We have a lobby that's maintained by its owners, me and Silicon. We do whatever we deem necessary to keep BGO a fun place for players. Now, I cannot really add to your debate about rules. Yes, the general rule is not to be a dick. Of course that's completely subjective and simply means that me and Silicon can ban anyone at any time for our personal reasons. We keep each other in check, because neither of us are in favor of power abuse. We often ask each other for advice and inform each other when we've banned someone.
  27.
  28. As for comparing your case to that of others: me and Silicon have long been agreed that your negativity was overall harmful for the lobby. We've given you ample warnings and gentle nudges, even though you'll likely argue otherwise. You always do.
  29.
  30. Now, I can see a pattern here. First you argue about achievement games all the time. When we finally order you to stop (after many months), you switch to complaining about being ordered not to complain about achievement games. Now, after having been banned from the lobby, you switch to complaining about that. It's endless. This time it ends here. I am going to lock this topic.

  32. You've had a serious answer to your questions and you're gonna have to make do with that.
