  1. [19:53] <@SuikoGM> And with that, the dream is over. Each of you begin to wake up, left to your own thoughts, but we start in particular with... Iltani.
  2. 06[19:54] * Iltani springs up to a seated position with a startled gasp, in a cold sweat and breathing heavily.
  3. [19:56] <@SuikoGM> The serene country inn room greets you, the faint smell of breakfast cooking downstairs... a nice, comfortable bed; a change of pace from tents being on the road. Darkened wood floors and walls, and a green wool bedsheet. Mistral snores on your pillow next to you, a bubble breathing in and out of her nose. But as you jerk up, it pops and she startles up, confused.
  4. [19:56] <Iltani> The nightmares came as they always did - recalling the screams of village children as they fled for their lives against demons, peasants begging for mercy to anyone who would listen, the anguished sobs of soldiers who failed in their duties to protect the people.
  5. [19:57] <@SuikoGM> "...rib?" The frog stretches, then looks concernedly at you, before nudging your arm a moment.
  6. [19:57] <Iltani> A ring of people - Masaru, Killjoy, and two others - and Killjoy's final words, leaving a heavy, stinging ache in her chest. She fumbled for her glasses by the nightstand, and looks at Mistral, worried that she may have spooked more than just her.
  7. [19:57] <Iltani> "....just a bad dream," she insists.
  8. [19:58] <@SuikoGM> Mistral hugs your arm, comfortingly. Levante has taken to sleeping on a shelf above the bed, her head laid on a book. The top of Khazri's head is sticking out of an empty sack in the room, and Amihan kicks the air on the floor at your bedside.
  9. [19:58] <@SuikoGM> The room begins to stir shortly, however.
  10. 06[20:00] * Iltani clutches her head, and pushes up her glasses to level with her eyes. 'She took something precious away,' she recalls, as an image of a man holding on to the last of his strength, a smile on his pallid face as his life slowly bled away, all in her mind's eye.
  11. [20:00] <Iltani> The feel of cold steel in her hands. A pull of a trigger. The splash of warm blood.
  12. [20:01] <Iltani> She reaches for her needles and begins to knit with Mistral tucked away in her arms. It would be a little while longer before she was ready to face the day.
  13. [20:03] <@SuikoGM> You attempt to regain your composure, relaxing with Mistral. The knitting occupies your mind for the moment.
  14. [20:03] <@SuikoGM> And then, a little while later, the others begin to stir from their slumber as well.
  15. 03[20:03] * Damien is now known as Somalakshmi
  16. 03[20:03] * Sylvaine is now known as Lekha
  17. 06[20:07] * Lekha gets up in a way that is still slow and lazy, but more out of reluctance to face what's coming instead of the desire to laze around a bit more. Still, she eventually ends up stumbling out of her tent, a small army of Pokemon following her. Time to make sure she wasn't just dreaming everyone else dreaming her dream.
  18. [20:07] <Somalakshmi> (aren't we all in an inn?)
  19. 01[20:09] <Lekha> (woops)
  20. 01[20:09] <Lekha> (stumbing out of her room)
  21. 06[20:10] * Somalakshmi bursts out of her own room, breathing heavily in panic as she looks around, until she spots Lekha.
  22. 01[20:11] <Lekha> "Ah. Soma. Good morning."
  23. [20:11] <Somalakshmi> "What was that..."
  24. [20:12] <@SuikoGM> Cornell comes down the hallway, looking rather concerned, himself, and waves at Lekha and Soma down the hall.
  25. 03[20:12] * Aori_Radidjiu is now known as KatsuoOfTsukinoshi
  26. [20:12] <@SuikoGM> "Ah... good morning. Pardon me, but..."
  27. 01[20:12] <Lekha> "Mmmmmaaaaaaybe we should get everyone together before we start talking about it, right?"
  28. [20:12] <@SuikoGM> "Did... anything strange happen to either of you last- ah."
  29. [20:12] <@SuikoGM> "Yes.... yes, that would be prudent."
  30. 06[20:13] * Lekha nods, already looking tired again. "Yep."
  31. [20:14] <KatsuoOfTsukinoshi> Katsuo gets up last. His habit for sleeping in hasn't worn off.
  32. [20:15] <KatsuoOfTsukinoshi> He's already fully dressed and packed up by the time he comes down where everyone else is, though.
  33. [20:15] <@SuikoGM> It's with some hesitance that he knocks on Katsuo and Iltani's doors, just to make sure they come. ...Maybe that's what finally woke Katsuo up.
  34. 06[20:15] * Iltani exits, her knitting equipment tucked under her arm, either holding or being followed by a small army of Pokemon
  35. [20:15] <KatsuoOfTsukinoshi> Cornell opens the door and nearly knocks on Katsuo's face
  36. 01[20:15] <Lekha> "So. Um."
  37. [20:16] <@SuikoGM> "...Ah. Good morning. Can we speak, downstairs...?"
  38. [20:16] <KatsuoOfTsukinoshi> er
  39. [20:16] <KatsuoOfTsukinoshi> Katsuo opens the door and Cornell nearly knocks on his face.
  40. [20:17] <KatsuoOfTsukinoshi> Katsuo nods and heads downstairs. Once everyone is aroooound.
  41. [20:17] <@SuikoGM> Cornell leads the way down to the common room. Not much activity here. Seems like most people have already left, this morning. Just the innkeeper, Alfred, prepping breakfast in the back.
  42. 06[20:17] * Iltani has a seat, puts on her usual jacket, and resumes knitting.
  43. 06[20:17] * Somalakshmi takes a deep breath to try to calm herself before following them down.
  44. [20:18] <@SuikoGM> "...so then. Pardon my forwardness this early. Can I confirm with each of you that... last night, we all shared some sort of dream?"
  45. [20:18] <Iltani> "Depends on the dream."
  46. 06[20:18] * Lekha remains standing, and nods. "A vision of the future. They're not usually so clear...or with so many partcipants."
  47. [20:19] <KatsuoOfTsukinoshi> "I had it."
  48. [20:19] <KatsuoOfTsukinoshi> "I'm leaving here soon."
  49. 01[20:19] <Lekha> "First, I guess I'd better apologize for-"
  50. 01[20:19] <Lekha> "Huh?"
  51. [20:19] <KatsuoOfTsukinoshi> "They mentioned my sister."
  52. [20:19] <KatsuoOfTsukinoshi> "She's looking into the White Wolves."
  53. [20:19] <KatsuoOfTsukinoshi> "I'm going there soon."
  54. [20:19] <@SuikoGM> "...Hm. I can understand your haste, Katsuo, but..."
  55. [20:19] <@SuikoGM> "Could we discuss this a moment, first?"

  57. [20:20] <@SuikoGM> "...It did seem like Lekha had something to say."
  58. [20:20] <KatsuoOfTsukinoshi> "We can sit and talk a bit."
  59. [20:20] <KatsuoOfTsukinoshi> "I will listen to what you have to say."
  60. 01[20:21] <Lekha> "Well. First, I'm sorry, um, for dragging you all into this, I guess."
  61. 01[20:21] <Lekha> "Secondly..."
  62. 01[20:21] <Lekha> "I'm going with Katsuo."
  63. 01[20:21] <Lekha> "His sister is Important."
  64. [20:21] <@SuikoGM> "Dragging us all...? Did you do something?"
  65. [20:21] <@SuikoGM> "I don't quite understand what's happened."
  66. 01[20:21] <Lekha> "...not intentionally."
  67. [20:21] <Somalakshmi> "What are you talking about? What is... what is any of this?"
  68. [20:21] <KatsuoOfTsukinoshi> He's nibbling on some food.
  69. [20:22] <Somalakshmi> "Are you telling me everything we saw was real? That's all... the future? That's what's going to happen?"
  70. 01[20:22] <Lekha> "Well, I tried to track the snakebug in my dreams - I had found a bit of its skin, and... well, dreamed about it."
  71. 01[20:22] <Lekha> "It could be the future, or it could have already happened."
  72. 01[20:23] <Lekha> "And somehow all of you ended up sharing my dream."
  73. [20:23] <@SuikoGM> "A gift of Sight. You... certainly are talented. Somewhat like the boy from Loamvil, albeit with a much more pleasant personality..."
  74. [20:23] <@SuikoGM> "But then... why did we see what you saw?"
  75. 01[20:23] <Lekha> "...if I had to guess, it was because my listening rune messed up in the fight with the lightning golem, but... I'm not sure."
  76. [20:23] <@SuikoGM> "...That strange sensation that connected each of us for but a moment?"
  77. [20:23] <@SuikoGM> "...That is odd, thinking back on it."
  78. [20:24] <KatsuoOfTsukinoshi> "Those demons are very odd, yes."
  79. 06[20:24] * Iltani sighs.
  80. 01[20:25] <Lekha> "But in any case."
  81. 01[20:25] <Lekha> "Apparently just like we've been brought together, so have...other people."
  82. [20:25] <@SuikoGM> "So this unusually clear vision, shared by all of us... if we are to accept it as fact, then..."
  83. [20:25] <@SuikoGM> "...Yes, that, in a manner of speaking."
  84. [20:26] <Somalakshmi> "What is this... do we know you're not just trying to trick us?"
  85. [20:26] <Somalakshmi> how do we know*
  86. [20:26] <KatsuoOfTsukinoshi> "If we are to accept it as fact, then I have to go to the White Wolves, as finding my sister is my mission. And we also have to accept that whoever those people are, they have 2 True Runes, and are not on our side."

  88. 01[20:26] <Lekha> "I wouldn't trick you." :<
  89. [20:27] <Iltani> "And each have their own individual interests in us, regardless."
  90. 01[20:27] <Lekha> "And if I was going to, don't you think I'd do it in... a less silly way?"
  91. [20:27] <@SuikoGM> "Is there anything you saw in that vision that Lekha wouldn't know, Soma?"
  92. [20:27] <Iltani> "Separating at this point would be inadvisable."
  93. [20:27] <KatsuoOfTsukinoshi> "I trust Lekha."
  94. [20:27] <@SuikoGM> Cornell tries appealing to reason.
  95. 06[20:28] * Somalakshmi brushes her hand against her face shakily. "I..."
  96. [20:28] <@SuikoGM> There is, of course, little reason to believe Lekha would know what Zahara looks like.
  97. [20:29] <Somalakshmi> "Did you really all hear what she called me there?"
  98. [20:30] <@SuikoGM> "Somalakshmi Pari, was it? An unusual surname, but I wouldn't claim to be an expert on Sarangan names. Sumeru has me beat there."
  99. 01[20:31] <Lekha> "I don't see anything strange about it, either..."
  100. 01[20:31] <Lekha> "...other than the fact it was something you don't go by."
  101. [20:31] <Somalakshmi> "I've never told any of you my full name... not even my troupe knows it."
  102. [20:31] <@SuikoGM> "Ah..."
  103. [20:31] <KatsuoOfTsukinoshi> "...I see."
  104. [20:32] <Somalakshmi> "There's no way Lekha could have found that out unless she's able to rip that information from my brain."
  105. 01[20:33] <Lekha> "Which I can't."
  106. [20:33] <@SuikoGM> "Then I see little reason to begin doubting each other."
  107. [20:34] <Somalakshmi> "Then I guess... it has to be real."
  108. 06[20:34] * Lekha nods.
  109. 01[20:34] <Lekha> "Which means..."
  110. [20:35] <@SuikoGM> "As Ms. Isaacs said... perhaps splitting up is ill advised. Katsuo's sister... is apparently in pursuit of a True Rune of some kind herself, for reasons we don't know. ...This may be beyond our scope. ...But at the same time I wouldn't feel right leaving it be, either."
  111. [20:36] <@SuikoGM> "Katsuo, do you want our help?"
  112. 01[20:36] <Lekha> "She's Important," Lekha says again, nodding solemnly. "And as long as...those people are working together, it would be better to face them as a united front, right?"
  113. [20:37] <KatsuoOfTsukinoshi> "I will accept it, yes."
  114. 06[20:37] * @SuikoGM looks to Iltani and Soma, then.
  115. [20:37] <@SuikoGM> Cornell does.
  116. 06[20:37] * Iltani sighs. "I do have duties here, sadly."
  117. [20:38] <Iltani> "I'm not sure if I can be of any assistance, as tied down as I am."
  118. [20:38] <Somalakshmi> "So... Katsuo's sister is looking for a True Rune. And this myriad oculus..."
  119. [20:38] <Somalakshmi> "They're working with Nolgranda and the Steel Onyx?"
  120. [20:38] <Iltani> "Nolgranda.....it might be a stretch to assume that."
  121. [20:39] <@SuikoGM> "Mm. Your commanding officer? ...Technically I should check in with Lady Sumeru and Commander Tarron before I commit myself, as well, but..."
  122. [20:39] <Iltani> "Manipulating, perhaps."
  123. 01[20:39] <Lekha> "Do you or Miss Iltani know anything about that, Cornell?"
  124. [20:40] <KatsuoOfTsukinoshi> "The 'Founder' said that the True Runes on their side weren't Nolgranda's, which means they are not on Nolgranda's side...perhaps they are simply helping them because it is convenient."
  125. [20:40] <KatsuoOfTsukinoshi> "Or, like Miss Isaacs said, they are manipulating them."
  126. [20:40] <Somalakshmi> "They're close enough for Masaru to make that mistake, anyway."
  127. [20:40] <@SuikoGM> Cornell shakes his head. "I haven't been home in Nolgranda in some number of years. It is a good nation, full of strong-hearted people, but... I... dislike the political climate somewhat. I still hesitate to believe that Nolgranda is behind the attack on Loamvil, either, but the motives speak volumes."
  128. 01[20:41] <Lekha> "I meant about the oculous thing."
  129. [20:41] <@SuikoGM> "Ah, my mistake."
  130. 06[20:41] * Iltani nods. "It's something I understand, even if it is a state of affairs I loathe."
  131. [20:41] <Iltani> "The oculous....certainly doesn't ring a bell."
  132. [20:43] <@SuikoGM> He shakes his head. "I've heard the cult's name mentioned in passing during my time with the Sharpedos, but nothing of their activities. As far as I know, they keep to themselves and don't leave much of a footprint. You see from time to time small organizations rise up with nigh religious fervor under some banner or another... but it seems something about this is different."
  133. 01[20:44] <Lekha> "Hmmm."
  134. 01[20:44] <Lekha> "The guy was creepy, in any case."
  135. [20:44] <KatsuoOfTsukinoshi> "Definitely."
  136. 06[20:47] * Lekha rubs at the bridge of her nose. "Well, that's all I wanted to tell you - is there anything you wanna ask me? I mean, I know this is something I'm kinda used to..."
  137. [20:47] <@SuikoGM> He frowns and thinks.
  138. [20:47] <Somalakshmi> "Is this... a rune you have that lets you do this?"
  139. [20:48] <@SuikoGM> Lekha - the dreaming talent is one of the very rare bits of magic a human can do without a rune.
  140. [20:48] <@SuikoGM> When you're asleep, your consciousness is adrift in the Aether, the realm of magic.
  141. [20:48] <@SuikoGM> Some are able to divine more from their time there than others.
  142. [20:48] <@SuikoGM> However you want to justify knowing that information is up to you
  143. [20:49] <@SuikoGM> It is however, quite rare.
  144. 01[20:50] <Lekha> "Well, uh. No. Really, I've always been able to do it -" She fiddles with her hairpin absently. "Mostly it's just of cities that may or may not be important, I guess."
  145. 01[20:50] <Lekha> "But it's not Rune magic at all."
  146. 06[20:51] * Somalakshmi looks at Lekha a bit suspiciously, but doesn't say anything else.
  147. [20:51] <@SuikoGM> The blue feather feels nice and cool to the touch.
  148. 01[20:52] <Lekha> "I dunno, it's not like I've ever really gone to a big school or anything."
  149. 01[20:53] <Lekha> "...I'm honestly more worried about all of you getting dragged into my dreams."
  150. [20:53] <Somalakshmi> "You're worried about us?"
  151. [20:53] <KatsuoOfTsukinoshi> "Why? Are they...dangerous?

  153. [20:53] <@SuikoGM> "Ah, I apologize. I don't mean to invade your privacy."
  154. [20:54] <@SuikoGM> "Not that there was much I could do to prevent that..."
  155. 01[20:54] <Lekha> "Dangerous? Uh. I don't think so. Distressing - no, no it's not about privacy!" Lekha goes a little red.
  156. 01[20:57] <Lekha> "Um. It's just that it's really something you only get used to slowly."
  157. [20:57] <@SuikoGM> "It was certainly.... unexpected."
  158. [20:57] <@SuikoGM> "But if you wouldn't mind, I'd enjoy hearing about these cities, sometime."
  159. [20:58] <KatsuoOfTsukinoshi> "When we have more time."
  160. [20:58] <@SuikoGM> "Indeed. ...I suppose we come back to the question of 'what now?', however. Lekha and Katsuo are poised to immediately begin pursuiting this line of investigation... I'll join if I'm able. Ms. Iltani is unsure."

  162. [20:59] <@SuikoGM> "Will you help us discover the truth behind all of this?"
  163. [20:59] <Somalakshmi> "I think our goals might have a lot in common."
  164. [21:01] <@SuikoGM> He seems a little disappointed in that answer, but nods.
  165. 01[21:01] <Lekha> "That sounds like it's got a 'but' following it."
  166. [21:03] <Somalakshmi> "I just wish I wasn't so confused about it all. But I do know that I don't want Davadezi to end up like Saranga."
  167. [21:03] <Somalakshmi> "And that I need to face Zahara."
  168. 01[21:03] <Lekha> "I'd like to see some answers, too."
  169. [21:06] <@SuikoGM> Cornell nods. "And then.. Ms. Iltani."
  170. [21:07] <Iltani> "We'll have to speak with our respective officers. For the time being, my duties are here in Crystal Grove."
  171. [21:08] <@SuikoGM> He nods. "I understand that, it's just..."
  172. [21:08] <@SuikoGM> "Is this something you want, as well?"
  173. 06[21:08] * Iltani closes her eyes, considering something for a moment.
  174. [21:09] <Iltani> "I want to know who Killjoy is, certainly."
  175. [21:09] <Iltani> "And what it is that I have apparently done to her."
  176. 01[21:09] <Lekha> "No idea at all?"
  177. [21:10] <Somalakshmi> "Katsuo's sister may know something about what's going on. It could help us all to find her."
  178. [21:10] <Iltani> "I don't know."
  179. [21:10] <Somalakshmi> (brb sec)
  180. [21:11] <Iltani> "Maybe a few ideas to consider...but they are not pleasant."
  181. 01[21:12] <Lekha> "...I won't press, then."
  182. [21:12] <@SuikoGM> Cornell looks a bit lost in thought a moment.
  183. [21:12] <Somalakshmi> (bak)
  184. [21:13] <@SuikoGM> "...The White Wolves... Their name has come up quite often lately, hasn't it?"
  185. [21:13] <@SuikoGM> "The bandits pretending to be among their number in Oakloam Vale. The traps left abandoned in the woods. The dead mercenary raised by the golem."
  186. 06[21:14] * Lekha nods.
  187. [21:14] <KatsuoOfTsukinoshi> "They are entwined in this...whether they know it or not."
  188. [21:15] <@SuikoGM> "Mm. We'll get to the bottom of this, hopefully..."
  189. 01[21:16] <Lekha> "One mystery at a time, huh?"
  190. 06[21:16] * Lekha gives Valdrada a cuddle.
  191. [21:16] <@SuikoGM> Valdrada squeals lightly and clings tightly~
  192. 01[21:19] <Lekha> "And, um."
  193. 01[21:19] <Lekha> "Katsuo."
  194. [21:19] <KatsuoOfTsukinoshi> "Hm?"
  195. 01[21:19] <Lekha> "I was glad I was able to help you find your sister...even if it was like this."
  196. 01[21:19] <Lekha> "I've got to help people, right?"
  197. [21:19] <KatsuoOfTsukinoshi> He nods. "Right. I appreciate your help."
  198. 06[21:20] * Lekha smiles.
  199. 01[21:20] <Lekha> "Okay!"
  200. 01[21:20] <Lekha> "But for now...breakfast!"
  201. [21:20] <@SuikoGM> The innkeeper brings out five plates at once, balancing them on his arms and the top of his head. With minimal movement, he's set the table for all of you. "Enjoy. On the house."
  202. 01[21:21] <Lekha> "See? I'm good."
  203. [21:21] <@SuikoGM> And unless you guys have much more you want to discussssssss
  204. [21:21] <@SuikoGM> That will be the end of our Chapter 5 Extra
