  1. 'Hey Stu, hurry up!'
  2. 'I'm coming, I'm coming!'
  3. The two bunnies reached the end of the stairs, stopping in front of an apartment door.
  4. The trip from Bunnyburrow to Zootopia was much more complicated than they remembered. The snow brought a terrible traffic jam with it. And when they finally freed of it they found themselves lost in the streets of Zootopia. Luckily there was this nice shrew with strange hair that gave them directions. They found also the time to help those two poor mammals...
  5. Stu knocked on the door. A female voice answered from the other side: 'Coming!'
  6. The door opened.
  7.
  8. The room they were in was sparsely but tastefully decorated, green wallpaper with floral decorations was adorning the walls. In the middle of said room a vixen greeted them.
  9. 'You must be Judy's parents! It's a pleasure to meet you.'
  10. 'Yes, I am Bonnie and my husband here is Stu. Nice to meet you too, Mrs. Wilde. Nick said to us a lot about you.'
  11. 'Oh, my son, always talking too much. But come in! Get yourself comfortable! I'm going to prepare some tea.'
  12.
  13. While she fiddled with cups and teaspoons the vixen looked at the window.
  14. Snow.
  15. It was snowing the day Nick decided to leave their home.
  16. A quarrel, and she had heard the door closing violently.
  17. After that it took some time before he slowly began contacting her again. He began paying her rent too. She thought he found a good, stable job, and he will soon start a family.
  18. Snow.
  19. It was snowing when she found out what he was doing for a living. She cried, she pleaded him, she tried to make him go back to a more legal way of life. But he was unmovable in his convictions. He kept paying her rent, but she felt that, every time they talked, every time she looked in his eyes, that her Nick, the small scout full of joy she remembered, was gone forever.
  20. And then the news.
  21. Her tod helped a bunny cop in saving Zootopia.
  22. And she saw again that smile, those joyful eyes that she almost forgot
  23. A single, lone tear travelled down her cheek, leaving a wet trail in her old fur.
  24. With that bunny, with Judy, her Nick was back. To her she owed more than her whole life.
  25. 'All okay in there?' a female voice asked.
  26. The fox looked at the doe near the door.
  27. 'Oh dear! What happened?'
  28. 'Nothing... you know, kits? They grow so suddenly...'
  29. Bonnie embraced the vixen in a hug.
  30. No words were needed between the two mothers.
  31. 'Hey, they're here!' exclaimed Stu's voice from the other room.
  32. Bonnie looked at the fox in the eyes:
  33. 'They grow so much, we can't control it. What we can do is our duty as mothers: be there when they need us and let them go when they need us to.'
  34. With one last hug, the doe took the vixen by her paw, directing themselves toward the new guests.
