Demons. That's what they call us. It's a moniker applied to various races blessed with an unusual power, endurance, and frightening appearance from birth. Only a very few of these races are actually supernatural, evil entities, however, and our Gemini Tribe is not one of them. In this book we shall chronicle the story of our people, even as our numbers dwindle away.

We are born as one. A Gemini is a single being with two bodies, or two beings with one soul. It doesn't matter how you wish to describe it, on a fundamental level, a Gemini may have some slight differences between their two selves, but they are ultimately the same. The two halves are far closer than mundane twins and on some intuitive level we share thoughts as well. We start off, however, as I have said, born as one - in a singular body, which splits shortly after leaving the womb. Gemini are capable of recombining and splitting again at any time, but the bias against us has necessitated keeping our more human shape.

A Gemini's halves will share many things without complaint. Clothes, food, personal space, lovers. What is owned by one is owned by the other. Again, this is because there is, deep down, no fundamental difference between the two, even if they will refer to each other as siblings and seem to exhibit separate consciousnesses.

We Gemini are also skilled in various forms of magic - twincasting and eidolonic rituals among those. Perhaps it is because of the level of connection between a summoner and their eidolon that we can manipulate that fabric so easily. It is something we intrinsically understand, two bodies with one will (the summoner's). At least, in a general sense. We recognize Eidolons do not share themselves with their summoner in quite that manner. But still... our people have developed a strong affinity to them regardless. Basing our work off that of the summoners before us, any of our rituals may be described in a general sense to have a function as such: Taking something from one place and moving it to another.

Eidolon extraction is a simple one, a matter of removing the power hidden away in a summoner's soul and transferring it into gemstones. But from there we became able to change this into more direct or abstract things. Moving an eidolon itself from one physical place to another. Moving an Eidolon's forced loyalty to another. Moving an Eidolon's power itself to another being. Extracting the very Geass into a form that could be transferred elsewhere. When you gain absolute mastery over a seemingly simple but broadly-defined concept, things start to break down.

Unfortunately, our rate of birth is very low, and we have begun dying out. It doesn't help that during a pregnancy, we're essentially required to rejoin ourselves into a single being - a time during which it's impossible to mask our true nature. At this rate, we fear that our tribe may die out. It's for this reason we've written this collection of information about our people, to preserve our stories. Should someone come across this text, please - remember us. Though some of our number may have been wicked, we were not demons. Just a people blessed differently from you, who still yet live and prosper. Perhaps, however, that much like how we come in twos, perhaps our second time isn't yet upon us. We can only hope...
