  1. Hi, my name is Anne M. Welcome to Apple!
  2.
  3. Anne M: Hello! Welcome to the Apple Online Store! How are you doing today?
  4.
  5. You: Not too well, I'm afraid. I am having problems with my iMac. How are you?
  6.
  7. Anne M: I'm fine, thanks for asking!
  8.
  9. Anne M: I'm sorry to hear about your iMac!
  10.
  11. Anne M: What problems are you having so I can get you to the right place?
  12.
  13. You: Thank you for your sympathy. The problem is that I think I have one of them computer viruses!
  14.
  15. You: The kind you hear about on the local news that can damage computers.
  16.
  17. Anne M: I see!
  18.
  19. Anne M: While I'm here to assist with customers who are making purchases in the online store, our AppleCare team, or Geniuses at the Genius Bar are brilliant at this sort of thing.
  20.
  21. You: But I can't even get on my mac and I paid damn near an arm and a leg for it!
  22.
  23. You: What's this Genius you mentioned?
  24.
  25. Anne M: I understand. Both are full of the best experts for hardware and software, and can definitely help you with this issue.
  26.
  27. Anne M: The Genius Bar is located within your local Apple Retail store, and is there for technical support.
  28.
  29. You: I'd be darned if I had one near me that I could visit.
  30.
  31. Anne M: You are able to call our AppleCare team by phone. Would you like me to provide their number?
  32.
  33. You: I'm afraid I ain't got no phone, either. We recently cut back on spending. The computer with the internet functionality is all we got. Oh, and we got a nice new television, too. A big flat screen.
  34.
  35. Anne M: You can try borrowing a phone from a friend, family member, or neighbor. Because I'm here to assist customers who are making purchases through the Apple Online Store, I do not have the resources to assist you.
  36.
  37. You: Ah, to hell with it. Can I just make a purchase on a new mac?
  38.
  39. You: I want one that wont get the viruses this time around.
  40.
  41. Anne M: Macs are not typically as vulnerable to the viruses and spyware that plague PCs.
  42.
  43. You: Oh, I see. What about them iPads. Are those good for email and internet activity?
  44.
  45. Anne M: Yes, they are great for e-mail and browsing the Internet!
  46.
  47. You: Well hot damn, I think I found my newest purchase! Now my cousin Thane lives down the street from us and he's one of them techno wizard geeko guys, good guy though. Really great family man. Now he says that for a good computer you need a lot of cores. Does the iPad have cores in it?
  48.
  49. Anne M: The iPad is not a computer. It is a mobile device.
  50.
  51. You: What now? I thought you said it was good for internet and emailing, those are things on computers.
  52.
  53. Anne M: You can access e-mail and the Internet on mobile devices, like the iPad, or an iPhone, or an iPod Touch.
  54.
  55. You: Oh well I wanted a computer just a portable one. I thought that was what the iPad was. What are your portable computers?
  56.
  57. Anne M: We have the MacBook Air, and the MacBook Pro as our portable computers.
  58.
  59. You: MacBook pro sounds fast! Does it have those cores that Thor was talkin' 'bout?
  60.
  61. Anne M: The MacBook Pro 13" has the dual-core i5 and i7 Intel processors, while the 15" and 17" have the quad-core i7 Intel processors.
  62.
  63. You: Well miss I don't mean to be a pain but I ain't exactly a techno wizard like my cousin. So the quad-core i7 would have 7 cores?
  64.
  65. Anne M: The i7 is a quad-core, which means it has four cores.
  66.
  67. You: Oh, right. So 4 cores is fast then? I want my emails to go really fast when I send them out to my family for our christmas newsletter. We usually put in pictures of the kids so everyone sees how big they've gotten.
  68.
  69. Anne M: What else would you be using your computer for?
  70.
  71. You: Sometimes I like to listen to my old Elvis Presley albums
  72.
  73. Anne M: So you'd be browsing the Internet, typing up documents, writing e-mails, and listening to music?
  74.
  75. You: That's about right, miss.
  76.
  77. Anne M: Do you listen to your music from CDs?
  78.
  79. You: Well i put the cd in my computer so I can install them onto the iTunes programs.
  80.
  81. Anne M: Thank you. The 13" would suit your needs, and has a dual-core processor. Based on what we have discussed, you would not see much of a performance difference.
  82.
  83. You: Oh, right. So two cores then is good for those things?
  84.
  85. Anne M: That is correct.
  86.
  87. You: Now my son Charles is into them computer games. He goes blabbin' on about some kind of steams and how it has games for the macs now, I don't have a damned clue what he's talking about. But is the two core fast for games?
  88.
  89. Anne M: If this computer is going to be used for games as well, then I would not recommend the 13".
  90.
  91. Anne M: Who else is going to be using this computer?
  92.
  93. You: Just me and my son, Charles.
  94.
  95. Anne M: Thank you.
  96.
  97. Anne M: If he's going to be using the computer for gaming, I recommend going with the 15".
  98.
  99. You: Oh, right. Now should I get that t7 you mentioned with the 4 cores or is the 2 core enough?
  100.
  101. Anne M: The 15" has the quad-core i7.
  102.
  103. You: Yes, that one. So that is the best for Charles' games?
  104.
  105. Anne M: That is correct.
  106.
  107. You: Great! Now here on the list it mentions that there's something about giggahertz. What is that exactly?
  108.
  109. Anne M: That is the speed of the processor.
  110.
  111. You: Oh, right. So the 2.4 is the fastest then.
  112.
  113. Anne M: The 2.4 GHz can be configured to 2.5 GHz.
  114.
  115. You: Sweet Jesus! For 250 more dollars?
  116.
  117. You: is the 1 extra gigahert worth that much?
  118.
  119. Anne M: You can go with the 2.2 GHz option.
  120.
  121. You: That ain't what I asked, miss. Is the 2.4gigahert to the 2.5gigahert worth the 250 dollar? That seems like an awfully steep price but I want the fastest for charles' games.
  122.
  123. Anne M: Based on what we have discussed, since you would only be using it for gaming, writing e-mails and documents, browing the Internet, the 2.2 GHz would suit both your and your son's needs.
  124.
  125. You: Oh, right. I'll get that then. Now whats this about memory. Should I get the 8 gbs cause I heard that you need a lot of memory cause downloadin' and emails can use up your memory real quick like.
  126.
  127. Anne M: Memory is not storage. Memory is like the counter space in your kitchen, and more would be ideal if you work with multiple programs at once.
  128.
  129. You: Oh, right. I'll get the 8 gbs for all my emails and such then. Now what kind of graphics does this have? Charles said our last mac couldn't handle enough graphics.
  130.
  131. Anne M: The 15" 2.2 GHz comes with Intel Graphics 3000 with the AMD Radeon HD 6750M with 512 MB of dedicated video memory.
  132.
  133. Anne M: Your computer will switch between the two to get you the best performance.
  134.
  135. Anne M: For example, when you are checking your e-mail, it will be using the Intel Graphics 3000 card.
  136.
  137. Anne M: For his gaming needs, the computer will use the AMD card.
  138.
  139. You: Oh, right. Well is 512 of the gbs enough for his games?
  140.
  141. Anne M: Yes, this will work great for his games.
  142.
  143. You: Oh, right. Well I'm gonna have to talk this all over with Sarah before I got purchasin' somethin' like this or she'll split my rear. Thanks for your help, miss.
  144.
  145. Anne M: Do you have any other questions I can assist you with while you're online with me today?
  146.
  147. You: No thanks, that should be the bushel of it.
  148.
  149. Anne M: Thank you for visiting the Apple Store. We appreciate your business. If you would like more help, please chat with us again.
