275.
BEFORE NATALIE

 276.
 277.
Spencer Parker never knew his parents, having grown up in an orphanage since he was a baby. He knew nothing about them, which always left him having an identity crisis even from a young age. It wasn’t that he hated being an orphan. Having never had any parents, he neveer had that loved then lost feeling involving them and he lived among other orphans, so there wasn’t any jealousy or longing involved.

 278.
 279.
As a child, he was quiet and kept to himself. Never the loud one or one to draw attention to himself, it allowed him to cause his trouble unnoticed. That’s how he always worked - quiet and unnoticed while getting the job done. He never stuck around long in foster homes, Spencer always doing something that would for sure have himself get kicked out. Not having his own parents, he didn’t want any replacement ones.

 280.
 281.
Growing up, Spencer continued with his stealthy nuisance. It mostly involved theft with the occassional fist fight. Living in an orphange with a lot of other angry orphaned boys, learning how to defend himself was a must to get by.

 282.
 283.
Spencer was a bright kid, actually paying attention in class when he wasn’t off getting himself into trouble. He also had the tendency to steal books that he found interesting. He was a fast learner and loved to learn new things - anything that he saw could potentially come in handy in the future for whatever reason. This was where he learned how to do most of the illegal things he enjoyed doing - crack safess, pick locks, steal cars.

 284.
 285.
Around the age of sixteen, Spencer stumbled upon a car he knew he could sell for quite a lot of cash and he was always in need of some money. Breaking into it was easy, not even leaving a mark or a scratch. Little did he know, the car belonged to the legendary Bruce Queen. Before he even had the chance to drive off with the car, he was roughly yanked from the seat and thrown to the ground, a foot firmly on his chest. And that was how he came to meet his future mentor and father figure.

 286.
 287.
Bruce noticed how troubled Spencer was and eventually took him under his wing. He saw traits and knowledge and skills in Spencer that would be great for his line of work. Ever since, Spencer was known as Bruce’s protege, learning all there was to learn about being an assassin from the best.

 288.
 289.
DURING NATALIE

 290.
 291.
Spencer would often times shadow and assist Bruce during missions. He was often taken to The Continental, the hotel that serviced only the hitmen and assassins from the same agency. While there, Spencer met Natalie, another up and coming assassin who was being mentored. There were other mentored people around his age, but Natalie was the only one to catch Spencer’s attention. They would often train, practice, and spar together. Natalie was the only one to ever give him a real challenge. Everyone else was easy, but not her. It came as no surprise that they would go on to become the top two assassins in the agency.

 292.
 293.
Relationships weren’t his thing - they never were. However, when it came to Natalie, things were different. At least, they were different for him. Nothing happened between the two until years later when they were in their twenties. They had developed something that was purely physical. The label was purely physical, but Spencer knew his feelings went deeper than that. After years of this purely physical relationship, Spencer couldn’t lie to himself anymore.

 294.
 295.
One night, he asked Natalie to quit the assassin business with him and to have a normal life together. Spencer loved Natalie and he knew that as long as they continued to work where they did, they would never be able to truly be together. Much to his dismay, she had turned that down and that was the night they ended what it was that they had.

 296.
 297.
AFTER NATALIE

 298.
 299.
Some time after things ended with Natalie, Spencer focused purely on his work, not caring about anything else. It wasn’t until he met a woman named Carol Todd that things changed. He fell in love with Carol and saw a future with her - a future he could never have with Natalie. While he dated Carol, he did his best to keep his relationship as little known as possible for her protection.

 300.
 301.
Eventually proposng to Carol, it was then that Spencer made his retirement official. They married and they were ale to enjoy a couple years of happiness and bliss together until the night she was murdered. Spencer had come home to her bloody body on the kitchen floor. It didn’t take him long to figure out who was behind it - a bitter business man that had close ties to The Continental who was still angry over a bad deal years ago involving Spencer. That was the night he came out of retirement, swearing to avenge his wife.
