  1. I love your product, once I get it working.
  2.
  3. But I am NOT going to donate and here is why.
  4.
  5. It is always a total fucking nightmare to get it working and it always cost me a week or two every time I want to change a version, reformat my hard drive, change computers whatever. For years now the FIRST consideration on changing a setup is will it disturb XDebug and bring the nightmare back. and I do mean nightmare.
  6.
  7. By the time I get this great product working in eclipse, (now switching to phpstorm), I am so pissed off I want to meet you in an alley and beat the fuck out of you, not say thank you for the great product which it is.
  8.
  9. You are making some progress, the php info paste in is a great step ahead, but frankly the totally FOUL taste this has left me with time and time and time and time and time again ad infinitum will take years to get over.
  10.
  11. The real problem is you are really the only decent debugger on the market, we developers have had no choice for years but to read through the dozens of misleading posts, youtube videos, blog entries etc and have had no choice to spend weeks cursing and swearing and trying again.
  12.
  13. It has left developers like me with a VERY REAL case of ptsd about your product no matter how easy you finally get the setup to be. You have never experienced a deadline situation that requires your product working to really get going, and trying to explain to your client you just can't get the install right. You can imagine the reaction to that.
  14.
  15. Rather than ask for donations why don't you just set up an on-line, skype take over the computer type install service for a hundred dollars a pop for any and all configurations. I would not think twice and would be praising you rather than cursing you and I am sure you would quickly get rich.
  16.
  17. Like I said, for many it really doesn't matter if you get it working reasonably now. It has become an emotional issue and not just with me. The idea of an Xdebug install now has an automatic reaction that is unique in the field. its like asking somebody if they want to get hit with a cattle prod again (wasn't that fun last time?)
  18.
  19. Every single article on the subject now starts with the sentence about what a pain in the ass Xdebug config is. THAT should tell you something.
