  4. HOW I LEARNED TO STOP WORRYING AND LOVE THE MOUSE

  8. WHAT IS GAME SENSE
  9. ============================================
  10. Game sense is a concept that
  11. ============================================
  12. MOUSE?????
  13. ============================================
  14. "PROOOOOOOOOOOOOOOXXXXXX DO I NEED A NEW MOUSE???????"
  15. Maybe. It depends on your current mouse and if you're comfortable with it.
  16.
  17. Generally you will want to keep acceleration off, but some notable quake players use accel.
  18. However, acceleration in quake is different to in other games, as it isn't tied to framerate like all others I've seen.
  19. This means that if your framerate is higher, your mouse will speed up more. So accel tends to be bad.
  20.
  21. This is the same for mice with built in acceleration. Stay away from them.
  22.
  23. "BUT WHAT MOUSE DO I GET???"
  24. Depends on your preference in shape, weight and buttons. I think everyone wants the most accurate sensor anyway.
  25. I follow this guy's reviews and he's not lied to me yet https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCGJaDZC7PChgd-XMwcbZkiw
  26.
  27. Generally you will want a good sensor, with a shape and weight you like, the buttons will be the least important.
  28.
  29. ============================================
  30. MUH SENSITIVITY
  31. ============================================
  32. Doesn't matter all that much in the long run.
  33. The soft rule is that a lower sens is better for sniping but my friend has a sens 4x higher than me and he's just as good so ehhhhh
  34.
  35. DO NOT COPY A PRO'S SENSITIVITY, TEST AND FIND YOUR OWN.
  36.
  37. ============================================
  38. ACTUALLY AIMING THE DAMN THING
  39. ============================================
  40. Three basic types of aim, Tracking, Prediction and Flicks.
  41.
  42. ============================================
  43. TRACKING
  44. ============================================
  45. Actually following the person, pretty easy to practice. Just follow stationary things while you move around them, then follow team mates as they move. Important for everyone except for snipers.
  46.
  47.
  48. ============================================
  49. PREDICTION
  50. ============================================
  51. Just watching choke points. Reacting to people walking through.
  52. Learning where people move and what they might do as they cross through your sightlines are key.
  53. Small adjustments will be needed though
  54.
  55. ============================================
  56. FLICKS
  57. ============================================
  58. The sicc shots you see in all the frag movies. Just practice flicking to a specific area, reactions and learn game sense to figure out where people can be. It's the hardest thing to practice for me tbh
