196.
physical characteristics

 197.
 198.
As a siren nearing her time to return to the sea, Evelyn has a forked tongue, scales on her human skin (torso, face, arms), and opal irises; these changes will appear as a human if she exhausts herself in her two legged disguise for more than three moons. When completely transformed, she has a tail (the average size of human legs, not including her fins), gills on her neck which funnel water through her system and provide her with oxygen, sharpened, jaggedly placed teeth, and flicked ears. Her eyes take on a more ethereal hue to them, though remain opal in coloration, and her previously dominant magical potency is completely unlocked.

 199.
 200.
As a human, Evelyn has naturally auburn shaded hair which falls just near her bust, the coloration ranging in hue based on her sun exposure; her skin is remarkably pale, with literring freckles throughout her upper body, though none on her face. Her eyes are emerald, changing to their more opal natural state when her powers are active, when she is experiencing emotional stress, or during close encounters of the physical and alluring nature. She has normal, pearly white teeth, and looks the average part of a human, sans the supernatural beauty she still radiates.

 217.
shapeshifting/siren form

 218.
 219.
Evelyn's natural state is her merfolk physiology and not her human anatomy; she is able to shapeshift from siren to human on certain days of the lunar calendar, and only for short periods of time (roughly three days maximum). Without bathing her body in water at least once a day, Evelyn begins to lose power and strength; any prolonged time spent out of the sea will cause her death. Her tail, which is roughly the length of human legs not including its tailfin, is covered in brilliant iridescent opal scales. It has immense power, enough to propel her through water at exceptional speeds, and can be used as a means of defense. Taking a direct hit from both its weight and the spiky scales would inflict damage to anyone ludicrous enough to try and capture her, or worse. When Evelyn is in her siren form, most of her mind is feral, making her highly dangerous; she is unsure how many men and women she has dragged into the sea.

 220.
 221.
associated abilities

 222.
 223.
• Ability to breathe underwater
• Aquatic communication
• Speed swimming
• Beacon emission
• Weather manipulation
• Portal/Realm hopping
• Enhanced senses
• Supernatural beauty
• Semi-immortality

 224.
 225.
Siren Song

 226.
 227.
The sonokenetic cry, pitch, or medley made to lure victims into the ocean or toward the siren; it is highly irresistible, putting the victim into a state of obliviousness, making their resistance weaker, and opening them to suggestion. It can be cancelled out by a loss of hearing or if the siren is interrupted. An adept siren can influence the emotions of their victim through the octaves they sing, either causing great joy or unbearable sadness.

 228.
 229.
Siren Aura

 230.
 231.
Being nearby a siren is temptation in itself, and a simple intended touch, kiss, or prolonged eye contact can make anyone a victim to her charm, leaving them open to suggestion and potentially making them controllable. The latter is applicable mainly to humans who are already emotionally stunted, making them vulnerable to the supernatural beauty of the siren.

 232.
 233.
Siren Blood

 234.
 235.
Evelyn's body possesses natural defenses to the world around her, and while her blood is known to produce hallucinations in others when these defense mechanisms are triggered, it can also prolong life and cause euphoria in those not consciously considered a threat, acting as a means of getting "high." It is sought after by those searching for immortality, much like unicorn's blood--or so the myths go.

 236.
 237.
Siren Bite

 238.
 239.
Much like her blood, Evelyn's body is host to all manner of bacteria which mortal kind and land dwellers are not accustomed to. Like a deadly venomous sting from a Stonefish, one bite from a siren which pierces the skin can cause all manner of effects, ranging from: blood poisoning, paralysis, gangrene, blurred vision, vomiting, numbness of the face and limbs, muscle weakness, shock, general unpleasant pain, necrosis, and if left untreated, death.

 240.
 241.
Hydrokinesis

 242.
 243.
The ability to manipulate liquid molecules, either in or out of the water; the effects aren't massive, but it is enough while in human form to defend herself if needed with torrential bursts of offensive water.

 244.
 245.
Weaknesses

 246.
 247.
Evelyn suffers from the general difficulties of transitioning from water to air; she is quite clumsy in her day to day life, especially after being out of water, and temporary breathing issues are not uncommon. Her scales and skin may eventually dry out from sun exposure and/or artificial heating. She will always need to be constantly hydrates, as dehydration is a sure way for accidental death while on land. She is very vulnerable to human diseases as she is not a landwalker, therefore making her vulnerable to some diseases and infections which mortals have immunity to. Furthermore, Evelyn lacks a lot of her supernatural enhancements when walking around in her human disguise; if she is physically hurt, she can die quite easily or heal improperly, therefore causing complications in the transition back to her merfolk physiology.

 265.
the siren and her song

 266.
 267.
Sirens are dangerous, mythological creatures based in Greco-Roman tradition, with supernatural beauty so potent and melodic songs so sad that they are known to cast sailors into the sea. These beasts were the offspring of the river God Achelous, but more notably considered the three original handmaidens of Persephone; upon her abduction by Hades, her mother Demeter granted them wings and gave to them the task of finding her daughter. These half-bird women sought after their missing maiden but to no avail and eventually gave up the cause, resulting in a swift and demoralizing punishment by Demeter. They were cursed to forever remain on the island known to Virgil and Homer as Sirenum Scopuli, or the modern day Gulf of Naples, and would not be granted their mortal appearances ever again. Demeter tore from them their wings, thereby stranding them on the islands, and plucked their feathers off of their bodies. The songs they sing are a calling to their missing Persephone, begging for her return.

 268.
 269.
It is believed one day a sea-serpent spotted these women and ate their lower, bird-like halves; because of this and due to desperation, the sirens fell into the sea and slaughtered giant fish, using their bodies to replace their missing limbs. From this point on the sirens remained in the water, only surfacing on land to procreate with humans under a mortal disguise, thus overtime increasing their population. In common literature they are still known for their beauty and songs, but are mostly thought to be cannibalistic in nature, with the want to drag sailors into the sea or cause them to fall into a hypnotic stupor, thus neglecting their duties aboard their ships and resulting in a crash against jagged rocks. In their brief encounters with sirens, the mortal realm began to confuse them with mermaids, a notably different species variation of merfolk--a differentiation mostly due to their docile temperament, as compared to the volatile sirens--and thus the two mythological creatures have shared entwined stories ever since.
