  216. == Description ==
  217. Frank is not the image that would pop into your head when the average person thinks of the term "Shadowrunner". He's not lined with tattoos, he's not magically empowered, and he's not the ugliest person on the planet, but not the prettiest or most handsome either. His hair is usually cut fairly short, to make room for the hat constantly on his head. He is, by glance, an average young man.
  218.
  219. Look closer, however, and you'll see signs of wear and tear on him. His eyes are bagged from nights without sleep, his lanky frame hides the muscles he's developed, and, if you catch him without a shirt, you'll see the large amounts of scars from slashes, stabs, gunshots, fire, and bites from paracritters he's encountered.
  220.
  221. His cybered arms attract little attention, from how dulled and beat up they look. The left arm, cut off at just above the elbow, is painted a dark green, with the paint chipped and scratched off in may places, especially the palm, where rocks and minerals grind and scratch against it whenever he handles them. Whenever it moves, it makes a soft but ever-present whirring noise, the source of which has yet to be found by him nor any of the cyberdocs he's gone too. Technically speaking, it should be fine. Nothing's damaged on the inside, and the casing shouldn't interfere with the insides in a way that makes that noise, or causes it to fail. But every so often, you'll see Frank cursing at his left arm and bashing it against something to get it to work again when it DOES fail. Maybe it's cursed.
  222.
  223. His right arm is attached at the shoulder, and, unlike the left, it works perfectly fine. No noise, no failures, nothing. It has a dulled, scratched surface, it's original finish well worn from both time as a Shadowrunner and from his trips out to get geological samples.
  224.
  225. His clothing choice usually based on what works well in the outdoors, though the most variance is what he wears on his upper body, switching from t-shirts to plaid shirts and the like. He'll most often wear jeans, mainly because you can get away with wearing them for several days at a time, though he might change into cargo pants if he needs to. His old, heavily worn hiking boots are almost always his footwear of choice, since they're comfortable everywhere and they have great traction. Figuring the desert would be cold at night, he brought his Dad's old Leather Jacket with him, to keep him warm, and maybe give him some good luck.
  226.
  227. The constant though is his old red baseball cap, though that red is often stained white with sweat. He's had this thing for YEARS, and he'll probably let go of it only when he's dead.
  228.
  229. == Background ==
  230. Born to Robert Hartmann, a Paracritter Hunter and Dahlia Hartmann, nee Brown, a Parazoologist, Frank had a fairly... interesting childhood, most of which was spent out in the wilderness, either learning about the behavior of paracritters to see their social behaviors with his mother, or hunting them down with his father, learning from both to respect the animals studied or hunted. Frank even got his dad's old baseball cap when he took down his first Devil Rat. Now the thing doesn't come off of his head. The hat, not the devil rat.
  231.
  232. 'Course, Frank wasn't really interesting in studying or hunting paracritters. Sure, it was fun to hunt with his dad or to help his mom get observational data for her dissertation, but he really liked to look at rocks. There were so many kinds! And even if he didn't know what they were called, there was so much to learn from them, not to mention his fascination with volcanoes and earthquakes. His parents noticed this and got him a Geology 101 book. He was hooked from there.
  233.
  234. By the time he was ten, his mother had gotten a nice, cozy job at the University of Seattle, and had moved the whole family there. Dad wasn't exactly the biggest house-husband though. Hunting paracritters was good work, and Seattle needed it just as much as the rural communities did.
  235.
  236. Not much happened after that. Mom continued her job as a Professor of Parazoology, Frank got into college at 18, and Dad continued to be a Paracritter hunter until Frank reached the age of 20, when his father kicked the bucket. From a stroke of all things. His mother died a few months later, struck by an oncoming car. And, with the will from both written how they are, he doesn't have access to the secured funds of both deceased parents until he was 30. Because they didn't think they'd die before then. Well, his mother didn't. His father, however, did leave him a list of contacts he could use in various places if he wanted to hunt paracritters for easy money. Without much in the way of funds (the part time job at the Stuffer Shack didn't do much for paying the bills), it seemed he was shit out of luck.
  237.
  238. When he attempted to inform Professor Artemis Triamich, the man who he was studying under as an undergraduate, the good professor had an idea for him.
  239.
  240. Shadowrunning.
  241.
  242. To say that Triamich was surprised when Frank accepted without many questions would be an understatement. What of the danger, Artemis asked, what of the peril, surely Frank was concerned about that? Most other students would be. Clearly, the good professor didn't know Frank's childhood.
  243.
  244. And that's how he got started. Now he's just that part-time Runner that can be called on for jobs that need a temp replacement for a team member, while using half of that money to go to school, becoming Professor Artemis' undergraduate and research partner. The other half is to pay for living space and to replenish supplies after every run.
  245.
  246. Running in the Shadows can get pretty expensive for street sams.
  247.
  248. == Concept ==
  249. Wanted to make a Shadowrunning Geologist with an actual background in Geology and Para-geology, maybe fix a few things that the guys behind Shadowrun might've glanced over. Like how magic rocks are magic with no explanation. Seriously, the geologists who must've glanced at the magical rocks must've been really inept, because no one ever tried to look at what the rocks were made of, no one tried to gauge their age, no one attempted to see what their structure was, not even basic details like cleavage or hardness were put down! Not to mention that almost nothing has been written up on how magic effects plate tectonics or fault lines or volcanic activity or soil composition or anything! Nothing other than "magic rock groweth plenty here" or "Native Americans blew up a buncha volcanoes in the Northwest." What kind of shit is that?!
  250.
  251. The SUV is something I wanted to try with it being pretty much a mobile store room and sometimes a makeshift lab for geological experiments, along with being kind of a home for him while out in the Mojave.

  270.
  271. I mean, all this cybering kinda cut your essence in half, but you need your hands

  273. Or a laser for one hand
  274.
  275. But you can't get that.
  276.
  277. Yet.
  278.
  279. ALSO: Spray painted a matte dark green, chipped away to reveal the matte dark red paint and the gunmetal grey of the cyberarm under that

  293. CONTACTS:
  294. Professor Artemis Triamich
  295. College Professor with a Doctorate in Geology. Frank is an undergrad under this man, and the one who actually got him into Shadowrunning (Being a former shadowrunner himself, having been called "Artillery Arty" back in the day). He is essentially his fixer back in Seattle, his Shadowrunning Mentor, and his main contact back home.
  296.
  297. While technically a doctor, Artemis prefers the title of Professor for some reason or another. It could be that he prefers to be a teacher, or it could just be a personal preference of title.
  298.

  334. WEAPONS AND THEIR BACKGROUND:
  335. Beretta 101T
  336. This Beretta is actually the first gun Frank ever got, his father buying it for him for his 16th birthday. Firearms were encouraged in his family, what with his father being a Paracritter Hunter, and, instead of a rifle or a shotgun, he chose a pistol he could just carry around if he ever needed to.
  337.
  338. While he isn't one for trying to stand out, he felt the nice faux mahogany grips would fit the gun.

  340. -Faux Wood Grips
  341.
  342. "Lucy" (His Ruger 100)
  343. This Ruger 100, along with the Beretta 101T, is the oldest weapon that Frank owns, part of the inheritance that his father left behind when he died. While Frank may have updated the systems a bit and added a couple of things here or there (the ghillie shroud and the laser designator), it largly remains the same rifle that his father used to go paracritter hunting.
