  1. (UPDATED FAQ)
  2.
  3. 1. What is this glitch? Is it RTA viable?
  4. This new glitch allows us to cross the gap that usually requires Yoshi, in order to enter chapter 4. It is RTA viable, and it is done by setting up Koops, going into the left corner, standing on the bottle, jumping, and at the height of your jump, triggering a battle using Koops. How far away the enemy is (if before chapter 6, it will be a spania) should be taken into account on when Koops is released, because the fight must be triggered while you're at the height of your jump. After running away from the battle, you have one frame where the game thinks you're on the ground (even though you're in the air) to make another jump, therefore, reaching the top of the ledge. The first jump is typically a normal one, but the second one can be either a normal or spin jump, depending on the runner's preferences.
  5.
  6. 2. Why do you have to do it twice?
  7. First time to get rejected by the pipe, then open TTYD, then get Darkly to write your name on your back, and then you have to go to the warp pipe again. So that means two times you have to get up on that ledge.
  8.
  9. 3. How much time does it save?
  10. I went and compared the world record splits, taking out the time from the Glitz Pit, but adding back in 3:00 for both attempts. In the TAS, it'll save 15 minutes, but since that's not very likely, it's probably closer to 11-14 minutes. (Still a big time skip, and it gets us sub-5 hours!)
  11.
  12. 4. What is this glitch's name?
  13. There isn't a really decided upon name, but names range from Western Sewer Jump, Double Jump, Yoshi Skip, Twilight Town Early, and plenty of other names. IMHO, there are two other tricks with the name "Jump" in them, (Bookcase Jump and Window Jump in chp1), so it might be confusing for people.
  14.
  15. 5. Don't you need Yoshi, though?
  16. The way chapter 4 is structured, since it relies so heavily on backtracking, there can't be a time in the first half where you have to use Yoshi because you can't use him in the second half. What I'm getting to is at the end of the chapter when all the partners appear and you fight Doopliss 2, the game thinks there's no way to get to this part without Yoshi, so after that cutscene, it gives you Yoshi.
  17.
  18. 6. Will not having Yoshi slow you down enough to make this trick not save time?
  19. Again, you're only going to have your partners for a few minutes before you lose them anyway, and traveling via tube is always an option. In short, it doesn't make that much of a difference. It's worth it to do the trick anyway.
  20.
  21. 7. On a scale of 1 to Ultra Hammer Early, how hard is this trick?
  22. Typically, the difficulty of a trick is scaled on its complexity and its execution. Comparing it to UHE would be wrong because UHE is more complex than difficult. Essentially, it's the hardest trick in the game execution wise, but it's nowhere near as complex as UHE. (It looks easy, but it's frame perfect at 60fps!)
  23.
  24. 8. Can you do it on English?
  25. Yes, but since English doesn't have UHE, it wouldn't be of much use. It would probably make you lose time in the long run.
  26.
  27. 9. Are there any other places we could use these physics? (i.e. Riddle House Skip)
  28. First of all, it's important to note that it's impossible to do this trick with a spring jump, because your partner springs in with you, even if they're about to attack. If we were to attempt a levitate%-style Riddle House Skip, we wouldn't make it, and even if we could there's a ceiling that gets in our way (That levitate allows you to go through.)
  29.
  30. There is another place to use this trick, in the room right after the Shadow Siren Skip. It would save a minute at most, and you'd have to get it first try to save time. It'll be in the TAS for sure, but it's not really RTA viable at that spot.
  31.
  32. The last place this trick could possibly be used is only if we find a Riddle House Skip, and a Teleporter Room Early. Instead of activating the switch in the last room of the fortress on the moon, we could possibly use this to get over the ledge and not activate the switch. If I remember correctly, you need Bobbery to get into the Riddle House, to get onto the moon, and to hit this switch. (Maybe a few other places? I can't remember.) Therefore, this would possibly allow an entire skip of Chapter 5. I'm not sure on this one, but it is a possibility.
