  1. >You grinded your teeth slightly
  2. >You hate, hate, HATE that pretentious little prick
  3. >”Hey Anon, are you even listening to me?”
  4. >A voice called out from the other room
  5. “Sorry Twily, I kinda zoned out”
  6. >”I said that Flash and I are going out for a date tonight, can you please mind the library for me? I don’t trust Spike at the moment. He’s a been a little rebellous lately, I think he might be going through a phase or something like that”
  7. “Of course I will”
  8. >A goofy grin spread across your face
  9. >Anything for Twilight, after all
  10. >”Thank you so much Anon, by the way how do I look?”
  11. >Twilight began to walk down the stairs from her bedroom
  12. >She always looked good to you, but she looked stunning in the dress she was wearing
  13. “I-I, uh…”
  14. >In response to your stammering she shot you a confused gaze
  15. “You look simply wonderful”
  16. >You managed to spit out after another couple of seconds
  17. >This time you were met by a look of disbelief
  18. “H-Honest, I was just taken aback by how amazing you look, is all”
  19. >She seemed satisfied with this response and you sighed softly
  20. >Thankfully she did not hear that
  21. >”I’ll try to be back by ten Anon and thank you again, this really means a lot to me”
  22. >A slight blush spread across your face but not enough to be too alarming to Twilight
  23. “Yeah, of course. What are friends for if they don’t help out?”
  24. >Twilight smiled at this before looking at the clock and looking alarmed
  25. >”I really must go, I’m almost tardy!”
  26. >She didn’t even use the door, as she teleported out of the library
  27.
  28. >You looked at the spot she disappeared from with a sad sigh
  29. >You loved her, you were afraid to confess it to anyone and sometimes to even admit it to yourself, but it was true
  30. >It hurt seeing her dating someone else, but you felt her happiness was much more important than you getting it off of your chest
  31. >Besides, seeing her happy was the greatest rush in the world
  32. >Just seeing her smile because of something you did to help her was enough to keep you content
  33. >You looked about the place
  34. >Spike was still out on some errand Twilight had him running
  35. >Sometimes you thought he was overworked by Twilight and you often offered to do some of the errands he was assigned
  36. >Not out of empathy for Spike, to be perfectly frank you were sometimes jealous of him, but just because you enjoyed helping Twily out
  37. >You sat down on a chair and dozed off
  38.
  39. >”Hey, wake up!”
  40. >You awoke with a start
  41. >Spike was tugging on your pants
  42. >You groaned slightly
  43. “You just get back, little buddy?”
  44. >Spike nodded his response
  45. >”So, uh, Twilight has gone out on her little date already, right Anon?”
  46. “Yeeep”
  47. >”So we can have some fun right, just us guys?"
  48. “Sure, just so long as we respect the library and keep the place clean enough”
  49. >Spike grinned slightly
  50. >”Cooool, because I got something fun in store for us”
  51. >The little fellow shot off and you grinned
  52. >You stretched, wondering howl ong you’d been asleep
  53. >Spike returned, with a bottle of alcohol
  54. >Not the weak stuff either, as far as pony drinks go
  55. >”Are you su-“
  56. “I’m old enough in dragon years, Anon. ‘Sides this is pony drink, barely affects Dragons.”
  57. >You weren’t sure about this but you figured so long as you stayed sober it would be fine
  58. “Alright, I believe you buddy. We had better still be careful how much we drink, don’t want Twilight to be too worried about you”
  59. >He eagerly slammed down two shot glasses so hard you were surprised they didn’t break
  60. >You undid the lid and poured out the two glasses before downing yours in one
  61. >Slight burn but nothing like the booze at home
  62. >Spike coughed after downing his
  63. >You raised an eyebrow
  64. “Not quite used to this yet, Spike?”
  65. >”As if, some just went down the wrong way”
  66. >He was young afterall, even if he was maturing he obviously hadn’t drank much before, or maybe at all
  67. >You poured another without thinking, you could drink a lot more of this weak pony brew before it affected you
  68. >Spike looked a little apprehensive at his second glass
  69. >Your eyes brushed past the clock
  70. >There was an hour before Twilight would return
  71. >You must have slept longer than you initially though
  72. >The little dragon picked up his glass sheepishly while you downed yours and already poured another one
  73. >You sighed as you looked out the window, wondering what Twilight was doing
  74. >The sound of glass on the table punctured your thoughts
  75. >”Fill it up Anon, this is nothing”
  76. >He did seem fine, you thought, pouring him his third
  77. >There was still plenty of the bottle left anyway
  78. “Lets make this our last, we don’t want Twilight to smell it on your breath in the morning”
  79. >Spike groaned and drank the shot
  80. >”Just one more, c’mon, I promise I’m not even feeling this yet”
  81. “Well, okay, but just the one”
  82. >To be truthful you weren’t either
  83. >You passed him the bottle
  84. “You can do the honors”
  85. >He seemed ecstatic as he poured out the two spots right to the brim
  86. >You raised your glass in a mock toast that Spike seemed to pick up on as he raised his too
  87. >You adopted a silly formal sounding voice and said,
  88. “Ahem. I would like to dedicate this drink to Miss Twilight Sparkle, whose date made this alcohol consumption possible”
  89. >Before downing the shot, also watching as the dragon downed his too
  90. >He was a pretty cool little drinking buddy, you would have to do this more often as he got older
  91. >The bottle still had plenty left as you put the lid back on it
  92. “Another time when Twilight feels a little less worried about you, huh?”
  93. >The purple dragon grumbled slightly
  94. >”Yeah, okay Anon. Thanks for trusting me. Twilight is a little suffocating sometimes”
  95. “Y’know, it honestly is just because she cares about you”
  96. >Spike didn’t respond and the two of you sit in silence while you waited for Twilight to return
  97.
  98. >It was almost eleven o’clock when you broke the silence
  99. “Fuck it, we’re doing this”
  100. >You uncapped the bottle and poured two more shots
  101. >”Really? Sweet!”
  102. >A smile crept across your face, the first since the silence had set in
  103. >You were worried about Twilight but just assumed she had lost track of time because she was having a good date
  104. >Spike’s excitement took your mind off of that though
  105. >”Hey Anon, lemme jus-“
  106. >His tail swipped the drink from your side of the table while you were listening to him and he did both shots back-to-back
  107. “Hey now, you never take booze from a man without asking properly first”
  108. >You said, but in a playful, not harsh, tone
  109. “Besides I’m not impressed by that, wait here”
  110. >You went to the kitchen area and got a larger glass
  111. >Four shots fit into this glass, as you demonstrated to Spike by pouring them into the shot glass then transfering it
  112. >You drank it down in one then tipped the glass upside down to show off to him
  113. >Of course this wasn’t an impressive feat to you, considering the weakness of the drink, however Spike was visibly impressed
  114. “When you can do that, I’ll be impressed”
  115. >You doubted he could, being new to this and it seemed to affect him more as a novice
  116. >He poured it out while you watched with a cheeky grin
  117. >Then he picked it up and began to drain it
  118. >One fifth down
  119. >Two fifths
  120. >Three fifths
  121. >Was he actually going to manage it?
  122. >Four fifths
  123. >Five fi-
  124. >He seemed to gag and some of the fluid returned to the cup as he took it down from his mouth
  125. >You examined it, he still had managed at least 3 shots worth
  126. “Hey, I’m honestly impressed you managed that much”
  127. >He seemed a little dejected at failing, but the praise perked him back up a little
  128. >You watched him finish what was left
  129. “Go clean that cup and put it where it belongs, Spike. We don’t want Twilight to know, do we?”
  130. >As Spike did as he was told, you noticed he seemed a little tipsy
  131. >Was this his limit?
  132. >You poured and drank another while you pondered if enough was enough
  133. >You drank a few more while you waited for Spike to finish cleaning up the glass
  134. >Spike returned after a short while
  135. >You felt were starting to get a little tipsy
  136. “Y’know what is rough, buddy? When you have, you know, THOSE feelings for your best friend and you can’t really express it because you’re too much of a pussy when you are sober”
  137. >Spike just looked at you a moment
  138. >”A-are you coming on to me, Anon?”
  139. >You blushed furiously
  140. “NO, I’M TALKING ABOUT TWILIGH-“
  141. >YOU DUN GOOFD
  142. >There was an awkward silence before you broke it
  143. “Off to bed now little guy, I think we might have had a little too much for tonight”
  144. >He was shocked but he obeyed, heading off to bed
  145. >You decided to have another sleep in the comfortable chair whilst awaiting Twilight’s return, hoping Spike wouldn’t blurt anything out in the near future
  146. >Hopefully he’d just forget about it altogether
  147.
  148. >You heard the door bang open and snapped to attention
  149. >Twilight walked through, her mane a mess and her dress slightly crumpled
  150. >”I’m so sorry but Flash invited me back to his house for a bit after our meal and I just lost track of time”
  151. >She looked as though she had drank too much and passed out on the couch or something
  152. >Twilight was kinda cute when she was all messy like that
  153. >You got up out of the chair and straightened up her mane
  154. >She was kinda smelly, you guess she needed a shower
  155. “That’s okay, I don’t mind”
  156. >You noticed her eyes travel over the bottle of alcohol and one of her eyebrows seemed to involuntarily raise
  157. “Uh, I just had a little drink, no biggie”
  158. >Then over the two shot glasses
  159. “Well, you know this stuff is weak to me and I do like my shots”
  160. >”Did Spike behave himself? Wasn’t too much of a handful?”
  161. “You know how guys are, he was completely cool with me Twily”
  162. >You yawned and stretched
  163. “I think he’s still in bed, in fact”
  164. >You watched as she headed for the bathroom
  165. “So, if you don’t mind me asking, did you have a good date?”
  166. >The sound of the shower started up
  167. >“Yes, the dinner was lovely and Flash is just so perfect.”
  168. >The glasses clinked as you picked them up and washed them out in the sink
  169. “That’s great”
  170. >You called out as you put them away
  171. >After this you walked back out into the main area, about to sit back down on the chair
  172. >”Um, Anon. I, uh, slept kinda funny last night and my back is really sore so I can’t reach some things. Do you think you could help me out and wash my back?”
  173. >Were you hearing this right?
  174. >Did she just fucking ask you to go in there, while she was washing?
  175. >You walked over to the door
  176. “Uhm, are you sure you’re okay with that? I mean, you are naked”
  177. >Right after you said this, you realized how dumb it sounded
  178. >Ponies were almost always naked, they only wore clothes on special occasions or to express themselves
  179. >”Yeah, aaaand?”
  180. “Sorry, human thing. You know, we are usually awkward without clothes. Kinda forgot”
  181. >She laughed, obviously finding your awkwardness funny
  182. >You entered the room but you couldn’t really see much through the steam
  183. >You worked your way towards the shower, making sure you didn’t trip on or step on anything
  184. >When you reached it you rolled back your sleeves and reached in
  185. >”Anon, stop being silly, you can’t see anything like that, how are you going to help me? Just hop in already”
  186. “But my clothes will get wet”
  187. >”Just take them off, I know it’s awkward for you normally but we have been good friends for a while now and I promise I won’t make it strange at all. You need to get used to how things are around here anyway”
  188. “Uhm, okay I guess”
  189. >The steam felt odd against your skin as you removed your shirt, then pants and lastly boxers
  190. >A blush spread across your face, even though no one could see you right now
  191. >The heat was very welcoming as you slid the door open and entered the shower
  192. >”Thanks, the soap is right there”
  193. >The soap was already quite slippery when you picked it up, you could only guess she had already washed all the areas she could reach
  194. >You gingerly began to rub her back down after lathering up your hands
  195. >”That feels really good Anon, maybe you should try to get a job as a masseuser at the spa”
  196. >Blush intensifies
  197. >”A little lower too”
  198. >Your hands cautiously go lower to her behind
  199. >”You know, that’s probably a good idea, actually. Your hands are so much better suited to that kind of thing than hooves are”
  200. >You literally had a handful of her ass by this point
  201. “I can’t do this, I’m sorry I just can’t”
  202. >”Wha-?“
  203. >You got out of the shower, grabbing your clothes
  204. >Twilight hopped out of the shower and stopped you before you got to the door
  205. >”What’s wrong Anon? Why can’t we be close like that? We are friends, right? I-Is it that you don’t like me?”
  206. >Fuck, you didn’t want her thinking that
  207. “I just don’t want to ruin our friendship. I do like you, Twily. I like you a lot in fact.”
  208. >She looked hurt still though, her eyes starting to well up and her eyes drooped down
  209. “Well I, uh, I love you Twilight”
  210. >Dead silence
  211. >You couldn’t even hear the shower in that moment
  212. >Thump. Thump. Thump.
  213. >Your heart was beating so hard you could hear it piercing the silence
  214. >Oh god, you’d really fucked up now
  215. >Confessing your love to a pony who already had a special somepony, in the nude after just doing something very private
  216. >Twilight just stared at you, her face displaying utter disbelief, in all your naked shame, your clothes under your arm
  217. >”You love me?”
  218. >There was danger in that voice
  219. >You nodded very slightly, rubbing the back of your neck, sheepishly, with your free arm
  220. >Her face seemed to be contorted in almost ugly ways you didn’t think possible
  221. >Flared nostrils, furrowed brow and an odd almost-snarl but not quite adorning her mouth
  222. >A rising tide of the little pony’s anger washed over you as you felt the heat in her voice and the fire in her eyes slowly build into a burning crescendo
  223. >”You love me and you didn’t tell me when I told you about Flash and I having a date? You love me and you didn’t tell me when I came home, my mane a mess and smelling of sex? You love me and you didn’t tell me before climbing in the shower and rubbing down my body?!?!”
  224. >Half way through her outburst her rather impressive wings flared open around you
  225. >You had never felt smaller in all your life than when this little technicolour pony was shouting at you
  226. >There was a wetness in your eyes
  227. >Were you crying?
  228. >”So let me get this straight”
  229. >Her anger seemed to be gone, replaced by a much more frightening manic hysteria
  230. >This change caused you to feel smaller still, as you felt your body back away, pressing against the wall
  231. >"You, my best friend that I tell everything to and do everything with, didn't want to be honest with me and trust me too?!"
  232. >You wanted to shout back that she was just wrong, that you did trust her and you were just scared
  233. >But your voice just wasn't there when you tried
  234. >After what felt like a thousand years of being unable to communicate, you found your voice
  235. "I just didn't want to ruin our friendship or make things awkward. It wasn't that I didn't trust you, I was just afraid of ruining it all"
  236. >The purple alicorn did not seem impressed with your answer and you felt her anger rise again
  237. "Twily I'm sor-"
  238. >"No! You don't get to call me that. Ever. Again. In fact I don't ever want to see you again!"
  239. >So far you had felt crushed, broken and worthless as the object of all your affection
  240. >But this sentence literally broke something in you
  241. >You summoned the last of your strength and managed to push passed the wings that were flared around you and ran out of the room
