United Federation of Space Faring Nations (UFSFN): Made up largely of the richest and most militarized nations on planet Earth. The UFSFN can largely be traced back to the war torn 22nd century which saw the world pushed to the brink. With the rise of space elevators allowing for the cheap building of space ships the colonization of the moon was right around the corner. The UFSFN was created as a means of ensuring that terrestrial conflicts wouldn’t end up breaching the stars.

Interplanetary Expedition Force (IEF): The UFSFN’s main military force that handles issues beyond the Earth Sphere. The Mars crisis is their first real call to military action. Its troop commitments come from the founding members of the UFSFN. As a means of ensuring that one UFSFN nation doesn’t grow to powerful the amount of troops being drawn depends on the size and relative power of the nation. This was based as a means to ensure that no one nation could gain power over the other. Fears still abound that a number of nations are hiding the true strength of their militaries.

Unified Military Intelligence (UMI): A joint venture in regards to intelligence after the Armstrong space elevator was taken down due to a terrorist attack. As a result, intelligence sharing between nations became deeply intertwined. It rose to prominence stopping a second terrorist attack on the Icarus space elevator in Europe. However, has gained the reputation as a boogey man that snatches up any dissidents against the UFSFN. It is even suspected they were involved with the terrorist attacks which brought down the space elevator in the first place.
International Research for Humanities Advancement (IRHA): An international non-profit organization that focuses on the peaceful expansion of humanity into the stars. Most of their budget has been spent focusing on further terraforming Mars, and creating mega projects such as the Iron Stars (A number of preliminary space colonies that dot the way to Mars). Recently the IEF has approached them with exuberant amounts of money with the goal of creating new weapons of war. However, the chairperson of the board has strictly ensured that the IRHA will never be anything more than peaceful organization.

New Mars Republic (NMR): Built on the ideals of a newly elected government for the people it has slowly gained power over the course of the insurgency. At the moment it is in an emergency dictatorship as the founding members placed power in a retired IEF colonel in order to better focus the war effort. Eager to right the wrongs of the UFSFN they have called for their independence from Earth.

Aresian Armed Forces (AAF): What was once men relying on stolen arms, and terrorist attacks against the IEF has become a somewhat professional military. Training has come along slowly as civilian volunteers become better versed in combat. What has truly turned the tide however was the introduction MS-06 Zaku II which placed the IEF on the defensive.

Tharsis Special Strike Force: A group of elite mobile suit pilots who have proven their worth on the battlefield. Dedicated to the New Mars Republic they have shown themselves to be a danger to the GM-Ground Type wiping out mobile suit squads on the regular. Rumors have placed them getting a new mobile suit built to further improve their performance especially against the IEF Gundams. Though one wonders where they have gotten the technological means to build a higher end suit.
