  6. If revenge is a plate best served cold, then The Phantom Pain is the same temperature as the Island of Shadow Moses. Kojima has done it again...
  7.
  8. The launch of a new metal gear solid game isn’t just a normal release, its an event of epic proportions cemented by a fan base with high expectations.. and surely day of release it will be like a nuclear bomb has gone off. In the case of The Phantom Pain, it's no exception to what we expect, in fact the levels of hype skyrocketed to to never before seen heights because of the way that its prologue, Ground Zeroes ended. But what really made us want to sink our teeth into MGS:V was the veil of mystery surrounding it.
  9.
  10. The Spike VGA Gala in 2013 was the stage for his secret production. One of the most elaborate “ruses” that the industry has ever seen.. But it was clear Kojima had something special in his hands. It's nothing less than one of the best games in history and the closing to the series.
  11.
  12. “V has come to”,
  13. The mysterious message that we've heard, the same that has been subject to multiple theories from fans, gives us a warm welcome not only to a new Metal Gear title, but to a revolutionary experience that could easily transcend and leave a mark in history.

  19. A serpent with wings:
  20. Even though there are kilometers that separates them, you can travel between 2 main maps with a blink of an eye
  21.
  22. 1. Afghanistan, North of Kabul: The sun hits hard in the afghan desert. Converting itself into an easy target during the day. Lucky there are multiple rocky structures that are the perfect hiding spot. Be very wary of dust storms.
  23.
  24. 2. Border of Angola-Zaire: Jungles, rivers, rocks… The African savanna offers a very diverse locale.. and dangerous. It's hard to spot enemies amongst the vegetation and constant rainfall that obscures the sound of our enemies footsteps.. and our own!

  27. This time around, the stealth action that has made the series famous doesn't play as linearly and has been replaced. In its place we have an open world experience, a world with hundreds of possibilities. Every part of the game can be completed in different ways. Kojima's new game adds a level of freedom never before seen in a video game. It's a real sand-box that will shift and adapt to the individual player. There is no doubt MGS:V The phantom pain is the best stealth action game in history.
  28.
  29. “Peace Walker On Steroids”
  30. Even though its risky, it's exactly what The Phantom Pain is. The MotherBase is back but with more “influence” than on the original PSP adventure. MotherBase is now an actual location that we can visit, and it's management will determine if you succeed or fail. Our actions on the battlefield (complete missions, scavenge for medicinal plants and supplies) directly affect development of your MotherBase. Development of your MotherBase (recruiting new members, creating equipment, expand the base itself) determines the fate of your actions. It's a fantastic idea that makes us plan strategically every mission, keeps us on edge and constantly keeps us busy

  34. (GREY BOX TOP LEFT READS:)
  35. Other than the main objectives, we have access to other types of missions such as
  36. Secondaries and deployments(?). Even though they are optional don’t take them for granted! They are well worth effort.
  37.
  38. There are 157 secondary objectives (almost nothing): and they are usually about rescuing prisoners, extracting intel, deactivate mines, or capturing legendary animals…
  39. Deployments(?): we don't participate directly, but the benefits are noticeable on the battlefield – Less cameras, enemies without helmets etc

  42. The legendary pistoleer is now one of our trusted allies.. But what is he hiding underneath the scarf?

  45. (Blue letters underneath 4 images towards top of the page read as follows:)
  46. -In game text is in Spanish but all screenshots are taken from English version of the game and the Spanish translation is lacking
  47. -The load times are minimal and they last 3 seconds. The optimization in this game is worthy of praise
  48. -You can customize your equipment from this page but remember all items have a cost
  49. -There are less cut scenes than past Metal Gear games, Lots of details are revealed through cassettes
  50.
  51. At first the large amount of options can be disorienting, but soon you'll be fluently giving orders from your IDroid like an authentic war general. Completing any objective requires “PMB* - Gross military product”(*acronym might differ in English*) and supplies, but they need to be fultoned to use them. Before heading out the battlefield armed to the teeth its worth stopping by base and selecting what you'll actually use for the job. If you don’t plan ahead, you'll simply be spending “PMB*” that you could be spending on other things. The basic objectives update during game play. It's worth noting the more advanced objectives take more time.

  59. 'Sold The World' gives us a warm welcome to a world where Eighties melodies are prominent. Spread throughout the world we find tapes with classic songs. Authentic hits of the period that we can use to listen to during the missions, or transport in the chopper. The amazing soundtrack we're all used to is back but with a new wave twist, and even though it sometimes differs from past sound pallets we've heard from the saga it manages to still be unique and nostalgic. The soundtrack almost hits perfection with the two main theme songs. 'Sins Of The Father' and 'Quiet's Theme” the latter using vocals from Stephanie Joosten, who is the actress who gives life to the sniper. You will not forget the moments in game when these songs play. Ever.
  60.
  61. If there is something worth envying, it's what Kojima productions has achieved with the Fox Engine. Two gigantic maps with a sickening level of detail running at 1080P and 60FPS that doesn't seem to drop even in the most diverse of situations, whether it be fire, explosions or tons of soldiers on screen. We can say without a doubt this is the best technical display on current gen consoles. The graphic quality blows away what we thought was the best looking, and we doubt it will be surpassed.

  70. Story has always been the key part of all Metal Gear games that always somehow manages to out due the audio/visual and gameplay elements. The Phantom Pain is no exception, we're met with a script capable of moving you to tears, and not to mention with one of the most intense situations I have experienced in any medium. However, we think you wont get as emotional as you did on the last games because of the fragmented narrative in [next 11 lines of text illegible due to camera angle, goddamn it]

  75. Moral decisions: sometimes we're presented with decisions that need to be made. Two options are provided and our choice can stop you from meeting certain characters throughout

  77.
  78. All that said, don't let these points worry you too much. Despite these small details. The adventure is authentic roller coaster ride of emotions that we've definitely been on once before. There's no turning back from here until you reach the ending, an ending that will completely destroy all the theories and what you thought you knew and will surely shock the community and long time followers of the series.
  79.
  80. There is no argument; MGS:V The Phantom Pain is the game of year and most likely game of the generation. For the last time, Hideo Kojima has managed to pull it off AGAIN. He is the man that sold the world.
  81.
  82. OUR VERDICT
  83.
  84. The good: Freedom without limits. Hundreds of options and possibilities. Its practically infinite.
  85. -Graphic quality and soundtrack: It's exceptional. You haven’t seen or heard anything like this.
  86.
  87. The bad: It's not as emotional and moving as past games and it does not end the saga in a way we would have liked.
  88. -The Spanish translation is very bad, bad grammar, phrases and statements full of error, very little coherence
  89.
  90. Alternatives:
  91. Ground Zeroes: It's the prologue to TPP, it's more than an alternative. Its essential to understand the story line.
  92.
  93. MGS Peace Walker HD: It's perfect for appreciating the evolution to TPP. And its story line plays a huge roll.
  94.
  95. SCORE
  96.
  97. Graphics: Superb. Textures, lighting, reflections… the Fox Engine is a feat in modern engineering. Score = 99
  98.
  99. Sound: Classics of the 1980's that you'll have stuck in your head and original vocal tracks that will make you cry from emotion. Score = 99
  100.
  101. Duration: Only completing the main story will take you around 40 hours. And you wont even be close to 50 percent completion in total. Score = 97
  102.
  103. Fun factor: it's so varied it's impossible to get bored and there's lots of surprises waiting behind every corner. Score = 95
  104.
  105. FINAL SCORE = 97 out of 100
  106.
  107. Final thoughts: Hideo Kojima says goodbye to his beloved series by singing a poem of elegy, a poem of blood and vengeance that already is part of the Holy Grail of video games. The Phantom Pain is Game Of The Year 2015 and the stealth and infiltration game that has been made to date.
