  1. Hisao Nakai > Harrison Nedry
  2. Born with a defective heart, Harrison(Harry) spent the first seventeen years of his life blissfully unaware that his own heart would one day betray him. Attending a prestigious academy, Harry enjoyed the solitude and independence afforded by his parents' persistent political engagements, spending most of his time with a small group of friends. Unbeknownst to him, his quiet charm attracted the attention of one of his classmates, a certain Miss Irene Berkley, whom Harry had developed a distant affection for, but dared not approach.

  4. One fateful winter morning, Irene slipped an anonymous note amongst Harry's belongings, requesting a parlay between the dormitories. Tentative about the meeting, Harry arrived at the prescribed place with a mix of anticipation and fear. When Irene appeared, claiming the note had been hers, Harry was elated, and even more so when she requested that he work toward courting her; which was a bold request to be sure.

  6. Unfortunately, it was too much excitement for his flawed heart. Collapsing in pain, Harry slipped into unconsciousness listening to Irene's screams for help. Awakening sometime later, feeling completely sapped of energy, Harry found himself in the nearby home of a local doctor. Learning that his heart had been defective since birth was disheartening, so to speak, but the surgery necessary to attempt reparations resulted in not only a lengthy, garish scar, but also an irritatingly loud clockwork pacemaker intended to maintain his hearts rhythm.

  8. The condition and the delicacy of the pacemaker, along with his parents' insistence that Harry receive only the finest care, led them to prepare a place for him at the distant Yarrow Academy; both a school and a medical research facility. The implications bothered Harry terribly, but he was left little choice, and thus arrived at the gates of the new school a mere four months henceforth.
