  1. Thoughts on Injustice Ruleset regarding stages.
  2.
  3. Lets face it, the way stages are picked in Injustice: Gods Among Us (INJ) is absolutely terrible. The only concept of a "Random Stage" is the background when you pick characters, and then when you do get a stage and lose, it comes down to "Did I lose because of the character, the person or the stage."
  4.
  5. Example: Atlantis. If you put Grundy vs Catwoman, if Catwoman can keep the space right in the corner and not let Grundy get her out, Grundy is pretty much screwed (baring any type of super). At the same time, you take a power character and throw them on a stage where interactable objects respawn, GGs there as well.
  6.
  7. Unfortunately, the current mode of stage picking comes down to a 50/50 between two stages, unless players miraculously agree on their stage OR allow the loser to change stage.
  8.
  9. In Injustice, it feels that counterpicks not only come down to characters but stages as well.
  10.
  11. How other games handle a possible stage counterpick.
  12. Mortal Kombat - Let it ride.
  13.
  14. Smash Brothers - Both the winner and loser are open to changing characters because of the possibilities where a counterpick can happen. See Northwest Majors V when Mew2King switched from Sheik to Marth despite winning. Why? Because the stage chosen didn't benefit the previously chosen characters.
  15.
  16. Street Fighter/Marvel/Any other game: Let it ride, learn the game, learn the stages etc.

  20. Possible Resolutions
  21. 1: Run an all random all the time setup. Basically, if you are the loser you have the option to change the stage, if you do, go back to character select and that is the stage chosen. No false "I was checking my buttons" type of deal or anything to avoid it. At the same time, there will only be ONE button check allowed in regards to the stage picked. This prevents people from saying they lost to a stage counterpick. If they lost to a random factor, it sucks, but you can only blame the game. If you go 1-1 and someone pulls a bs move and picks a stage that turns your matchup into a 0-10 and you lose, it can be quite a bit of BS
  22.
  23. 2: Allow both characters to change characters despite winning/losing, however, the loser must say what stage they are going to go do before the characters are picked.
