  1. Starcraft has a lot of things that ASSFAGGOTS doesn't. Arguably this makes the game completely overboard for most gamers.
  2.
  3. A much larger map, more maps.
  4. Consumable resource tiles. Every one of a maps 2000+ resources can be mined, altering the map and gameplay.
  5. King of the hill mechanics.
  6. High ground mechanics.
  7. Extremely unforgiving and limited vision in Starcraft compared to ASSFAGGOTS.
  8. Base denying -- not as important as some people think it is; I feel understanding base expansion is more important.
  9. Dancing (you should look up what this is).
  10.
  11. Now let's get to the units.
  12.
  13. More units. Starcraft has over 50 units with an active.
  14. Less homogenization in bases and economy.
  15. Move speed and attack time matter; you can be dance kited easily if you don't know what you're doing.
  16. High mana costs and cooldowns on many spells, careful management of spells are crucial.
  17. Extremely powerful abilities -- many normal abilities in Starcraft are stronger than ultimates in ASSFAGGOTS.
  18.
  19. Fighting:
  20.
  21. Very different from ASSFAGGOTS, can't rely on just putting tanks in front and squishy DPS units in the back.
  22. Extremely strong initiation and CC spells.
  23. Less about dealing more damage/taking less damage. Many upgrades and spells exist to provide temporary resistance to certain damage types.

  55. Reminder to stay open minded and not follow "pros" guidance, because they are just glorified pubstacks which often copy strats from your average 4k pub games, just as evidenced by support Morphling, shadowblade Spiritbreaker, support Alchemist and many others.

  75.
  76. Friendly reminder that there is ongoing war on the online message board *4 chins* between 2 groups of anonymous posters.
  77.
  78. First group identifying themselves as "acolytes" defending the values of innovative freethinking atheist attitude regarding to DotA 2 playstyle. The most important goal acolyte can achieve in lifetime is inventing metabreaking discovery that even most stagnant of pros would embrace in their struggle for TI victory.
  79.
  80. How can one identify acolyte inside ocean of shitposts that gułag is ?
  81. >optimizes its builds and gameplay based on mathematical equations, not anecdotal evidence
  82. >doesnt discuss or play FOTM heroes
  83. >can come up with effective sophisticated item build for any given hero within seconds
  84. >doesnt watch streams or support jews agenda from BTS and other casters that leech money from the scene

  104.
  105. Second group, the Meta Knights, sworn to defend their holy grail "META", will do everything to prove everyone who doubts the righteousness of PROS wrong.
  106. For Meta Knights, everything that has not been said or done by PROS is automatically invalid. Reasons are not important, what matters is META. Builds for any given hero are set in stone, because for Meta Knight only PROS builds and roles are viable.
  107. Discussion with Meta Knight always ends with greentexted "m-muh ranked" or "pros never did that, end of story" mumbling.
  108.
  109. How can one identify a Meta Knight between the pages of gułag ?
  110. >talks only about heroes that are picked currently in any given game that is streamed
  111. >openly supports BTS
  112. >NEVER questions pros actions, builds or plays
  113. >gives live stream coverage with all caps posts on d2g
  114. >supports sheever, cyborgmatt, korean dota and other irrelevant personalities
  115. >any sorts of logical discussion will be instanly derailed to damage control and nitpicking when meta knight gets proven wrong.

  129. last night I dreamt that I had a sweet idea for a new hero with what I thought could be some super fun new mechanics
  130. (ulti was a passive that had an insane effect but came with -2/-4/-8 on all attributs permanent, other spells were similar)
  131.
  132. ah well, until then just r8 my old idea:
  133. Shlomo, the well poisoner
  134. meelee int
  135. > STR: 15 + 1.5
  136. > AGI: 17 + 1.7
  137. > INT: 18 + 2.5
  138.
  139. active buff
  140. > gives up to 100/200/300/400 of your own gold to allied or enemy hero
  141. > deals 100/200/300/400 true, lethal dmg to same hero after 60 seconds
  142. > CD 60
  143.
  144. active buff on runes
  145. > buffs a rune
  146. > buff lasts 120 seconds
  147. > is invisible to enemies (true sight can bypass this)
  148. > DD decreases dmg, haste slows, reg deals dmg & drains mana, invis makes you visible on minimap, illus attack you
  149. > CD 20
  150.
  151. passive
  152. > each time a creep in exp range dies, you get 1/2/4/8 gold
  153. > each time a hero dies in exp range, you get 10/20/40/80 gold
  154.
  155. global active ulti:
  156. > enemy fountain attacks enemies for 0.5/1.0/1.5/2.0 seconds
  157. > CD 100/80/60/40
  158.
  159. alternative global passive ulti:
  160. > enemy fountain healing rate permanently decreased by 10%/15%/20%/25%
  161.
  162. People who play Dota 2 and LoL are fucking cocksuckers.
  163.
  164. You can't even rotate your screen in that fucking game. You have poverty graphics, you can't rotate your screen, you can't jump, you can't do shit. What can you do? You can't do shit in these fucking games.
  165.
  166. You have like 3 fucking options, and not even that much: you go up, you go middle, or you go down. That is fucking boring. People who play Dota 2 and LoL are fucking dumb. Why would you play a game like that? It's fucking boring.
  167.
  168. All you fucking do is stay in your lane, try to last hit your little creeps for fucking what, 20 minutes? Fucking half an hour? It's the same thing over and over again. It's fun maybe for the first five matches but it gets too fucking repetitive... It's just shitty as fuck, I have no idea why people play these fucking games.
  169.
  170. And apart from that, people actually think they're skilled for playing these fucking games. All you have to do is wait and be like "oh this guy's gonna go mid, pick a class that counters him." There's no types of skill involved. There's no skill in these types of games... Zero fucking skill. It's which class is OP, and which class counters this class. It's a mental disease; if you actually think that there's skill involved then what the fuck? You must be high or something.
  171.
  172. It's the same fucking thing OVER AND OVER AGAIN. Even the items you pick, even the skills and which order you level them. It's the same thing...
  173.
  174. It's like playing campaign mode on any fucking game and doing the campaign over and over again. It's the same thing and I don't get it. It boils my mind how. HOW? The only difference is the character you play, but they only have four spells. Some characters even have TWO spells. Two. Fucking. Skills.
  175.
  176. And you call that skill? You call that shit skill? People are fucking dumb... You're not a gamer if you play that shit, you're a pussy.
  177.
  178. 8 Tango Salve RoP branch
  179. 4 agi after near full str morph for 0 + 3 armor
  180. Go to offlane ideally but you can safelane farm or mid if you have to, just start with a typical Morphling opener, decent AGI for lasthitting.
  181. 3-1-2-2-2-4-2-1-1-1-4-3-3-3-0-4-0...
  182. Harass the enemy with ult when skilled, if you feel like it, them hitting themselves for 50% damage is no joke if they are a glass cannon type and it only costs 25 mana, Waveform should be enough for an escape if not better at this stage anyways.
  183. Roam once you have Tranquils and Soul Ring + TP, you can also call for a gank on your lane which should be pretty easy to succeed with.
  184. Start building towards Medallion of Courage, after this Blink Dagger is really good, Blademail is situational, Euls very good, Force Staff decent, and Hex good as luxury.
  185. Buy wards and typical support consumables if your team needs them, your biggest contribution of 4.25 isn't that item or farm dependent with good mana management.
  186.
  187. dota 2 is actually a spectator sport
  188.
  189. >every patch buffs every hero's strengths
  190. >every patch makes every hero's weakness to be even more prominent, either by negligence or directly
  191. >see: axe's helix getting buffed 100 times in a row, but no buffs to his mobility or his ability to carry the game
  192. >this is called the "icefrog balance method"
  193. >its effects include (at least at my 5k mmr):
  194. >highly one-sided matches due to hero picks and counterpicks having huge impact
  195. >very little opportunity for outplaying your opponent at higher mmrs since pure numbers tend to decide the outcome of fights rather than players
  196. >some heroes nullify others entirely
  197. >the result is predictable, slow gameplay, and is often boring if your hero gets countered, which it very often does
  198. >likewise, killing a hero you counter isn't very fun because it just feels you won with a numbers advantage
  199. >also, since heroes' damage outputs are buffed more than their defensive abilities, and since defensive itemization options are so poor, gameplay is more and more about finding an important enemy core and taking him from 100% to 0% with an instant cast disable from fog of war and some follow-up damage
  200. >icefrog doesn't care that the game has become less about players having fun and more about strategy and counterpicking since he balances the game to be fun to watch, not to play
  201.
  202. >also, icefrog balances the game for pro games, not pub games
  203. >this means that "pubstompers" utterly ruin the game at higher mmrs
  204. >slark has been a hugely overpowered in pub 5k because he's balanced to be good in pro matches, where the players are all in teamspeak, play professionally and know how to exploit slark's weaknesses, and will unload spells on him all at once to take him down
  205. >slark gets picked in half the 5k games i participate in, often played by some guy who is obviously just some 4k who has boosted himself by playing slark
  206. >icefrog doesn't care because the game needs to be fun to watch, not fun to play
  207.
  208.
  209. 4 years ago - cosmetics will never go any further than basic weaponry; sword, helmets etc.
  210.
  211. 3 years ago - cosmetics can be pretty much anything, but adhere to colour schemes and lore; pirate leg kunkka, tide squid etc.
  212.
  213. 2 years ago - colour schemes, lore or even basic models to need to be adhered to; nyx is the prime example of this. Silencer had to get a recolour because he looked like DK, but nyx now gets a SK theme, difference between the situations? Once money was being made, that rule went flying out of the window.
  214.
  215. 1 year ago - cosmetics now apply to pretty much anything; camera wards, cat drow, skateboarding phoenix, rowing rabbits, pig techies, fuckit, anything goes, rest assured, cosmetics will never effect gameplay though.
  216.
  217. Now - Cosmetic has an entire event that will impact gameplay
  218.
  219. I can only laugh at people defending this with "but it isn't that bad, stop exaggerating". People here make fun of LoL and their ludicrous microtransaction system, yet every year we are getting closer to what LoL is doing.
  220.
  221. No - apparently I was misinformed about runes in LoL, you can not buy these with real money, but can with in game currency, which would make it play2win rather than pay2win I suppose. So in that regard we have already surpassed LoL in the gameplay impact of hats. Currently LoL only "outdoes" Dota in the silliness of the skins it would seem.
  222.
  223. I don't care how little the impact of cosmetics is on my gameplay, there shouldn't be ANY impact on gameplay brought on by cosmetics.
  224.
  225. If I had made a post 4 years ago about how I would like an event bound to a cosmetic that would affect gameplay in a small way, and that I wanted cosmetics to no longer adhere to lore or colour scheme restrictions, you would have all unanimously told me to GTVFO. Yet here we are.
  226.
  227. I want my cosmetics to give me in game bonuses/gampeplay effects, I paid 30 dollars for it, I want something for that money.
  228.
  229. GTVFO, will never happen
  230.
  231. See you in 4 years /d2g/.
