Hi neighbors.

I trust y'all are making good progress on that resolution commending Bill Dunne for his legendary service to the city, given his imminent departure on February 28, 2016.

There is another issue that today's release of the video of the Faison shooting by our valiant #TroyCrazy law enforcement officers brought to mind: street memorials.

The City Council amended the City Code at the end of 2015, Chapter 141 Buildings, Article I Building Code "141-34 signs" to require street memorials to be removed 30 days after the event.

It is currently over 30 days after the law took effect on January 1, 2016 and there are still street memorials up on Old 6th Ave. as well as the long-standing white "ghost bike" on on the island between King Street, Federal Street and River Street. Whether the memorials are black or white, they should all be equally removed out of sight after 30 days.

I know City Haul is a little overwhelmed lately, and has been challenged with basic functions, but I am more than confident that our new Deputy Mayor Monika K. can direct our hard-working DPW folks to eliminate these wildcat (and as of today) scofflaw erections.

PS I nominate Mr. Robert Mirch for the position of either Director of Operations or Commissioner of DPW, as I am certain he would have eliminated these illegal memorials by now based upon past performance. Just a friendly suggestion.
