How To: Install Halo: Custom Edition

Hello there, you may be here of course to learn how to install Halo:Custom Edition. Since I've helped many friends do this step by step, I decided to make this so I can help fellow CE players get back in action!

STEP 1

Go here: http://hce.halomaps.org/index.cfm?fid=410
This is the English version of Halo:Custom Edition, if you wish to have a different language then proceed here: http://hce.halomaps.org/index.cfm?pg=1&sid=38

Once the file has been downloaded, run it, it will ask you where it will download and such, so path as you wish. Once done it will ask you for a CD Key, use these as provided

One of these should work, no matter what. Game is from '03 and all.

STEP 2

After doing that, install the 1.0.10 patch, link here: http://hce.halomaps.org/index.cfm?fid=6798

Once installed, you must restart your computer.

STEP 3

Welcome back, I hope you're ready for this part, it's where the fun comes in.

Halo will in fact work like a charm but there's a few problems
	- Resolution is too upscaled and buggy
	- Many resolutions are unsupported
	- Framerate for many is locked
	- FOV is too close to handle for players

In order to fix this, copy and paste this link here into your browser: http://client.haloanticheat.com/release.zip

Once clicked, you will get a .rar/7zip file called "release.zip"

Now open up to where Halo is downloaded. For most users it will be located in: Programs Files (86x) -> Microsoft Games -> Halo Custom Edition

Once you're there go to the "controls" folder and drag and drop the "loader.dll" file from the "release.zip" into there and you're set.

STEP 4

Now we have one thing left to do...

Fix the missing chat

For this, open up the "redist" folder and in there should be many .exe's and a .msi file called "msxlenu.msi"

Double click the "msxlenu" until something should pop-up prompting you to install a package. If it asks you for an account, just put whatever you want like "Kill ya self my man" or whatever you feel, as it does nothing.

Once that runs through you're done with this step.

STEP 5

Load up Halo:Custom Edition was watch in awe as it works as it should. Mind the volume, your ears will be blasted. Configure your settings and be on your way.
