My first job as a Spirit Guide has been a complete blunder.
- I can't believe I mixed up a human and a cat!

02: - これから
ボクのような「部分との神族」は
自分で自分おなまえをリミックスできない
"たまガイド"として未熟さを思いしらされた
ポーチさん事件を思うとき
自分お名の行く未が思いやられるなあ
Afterwards...
A small time God like me can't remix my own
name by myself. I've since been forced to
realize how inexperienced I am as a Spirit Guide.
When I think about Porch's predicament, I start
to feel anxious about getting a name of my own.

03: - 呪縛
飛び散った
ペタルの回収には
その場に居あわせた神族の特殊な感覚が必要となる
しばらくのところボク自身お力の大部分は
ポーチペタルの回収にさかれることになるだろう
はぁ……
Curses
In order to recover
the scattered petals,
I have to use the special senses that I have as a god-like creature.
It's been a while for me, so I will seriously have to hone my powers
for Porch's petal recovery.

04: - 蝶と花びらの詩
氷がとける
鏡が割れる
「わたし」がこわれる
さがさなくちゃねあたらし鏡
風にだったら映るかなひらひら ふらふら

Ice deliquesced,
A mirror, shattered.
And "I", myself, am shattered.
A new one must be found.
If I were reflected in the wind, flitter flutter.
If I were reflected in you, titter totter.

ボクがリアルワールドで一番おどろいたこと
それは「時間」
ナップルワールドではおとなしくしている「時間」というものが
リアルワールドではまったく落ち着きがない
もっとも
リアルワールドからナップルワールドを見れば
「その逆だ！」
ーって、怒られるかもしれないな
Various "Times"
What surprised my most about the
Real World was that thing called "time".
If "time" in Napple World were quiet as a lamb,
in the real world, there would never be a calm.
Absolutely none.
If I looked at these two worlds side-by-side,
I'd say "They're total opposites!"
--But then I might get scolded...

06: - 疑惑
いまふり返ってみると
ボクにはぬぐいきれないギモンがのこっている
あの時,ポーチさんが友だちから近所のネコと同じ名で呼ばれてこと
その友だちというのがジェシーという名の双子であること
いくら初仕事とはいえボクがしんじられないミス
ー人とネコを間違えたこ
これらの全ては,本当に「意味のない偶然」だったのだろうか？
じぶんのミスの言い訳をしたいんじゃない
「何か」がボクにはひっかかるんだ
Suspicion
Ever since I returned from the RW,
I had a question I couldn't shake from my mind.
At the time, a friend called Porch by the same name as the neighborhood cat.
This "friend" of hers was a twin known as "Jess".
Even thought this was my first job, I don't believe I made the simple mistake
of confusing a child for a cat.
I wonder if all this really was a chance happening or "mere coincidence."
I am not one to try and brush off my own blunders,
but "something" has got me twisted up.

07: - 中には太陽
あの夏至祭で双子のジェシーは
本人すらしらない間にジェスターとしての役割を与えられていたのかも……
高い城壁で守られたまあるい宮殿の
Amidst the Sun
That twin at the Midsummer Night Festival, "Jesse"...
may have unawarily been playing the role of "Jester"...
It reminds me of the castle on a walls.

08: - Ｏｎ　ａ　ｗａｌｌ
いったん、こわれた宇宙を元に戻すなんてことは
たしかに、どんな王様にもできることじゃないだろう
だから賢い王様は二人の道化師をそばにおいておくべきだ
一人では少なすぎる
給料をもらいすぎた道化師は自分を王様とカンチガイする
一羽のガチョウではただエサを食べているだけ
でも、三人じゃあ多すぎる
給料の取り合いばかりで大混乱,大混乱!
押し込められたガチョウがわめくばかりのように
There once was somesuch king who, unable to repair the broken
cosmos, was sad and alone. This clever king decided
to hire two clowns to join him in his court.
For the king, one was simply not enough.
The clowns had a misunderstanding about their salary.
He told them there would be goose to eat, but there was only one.
For three people, one was simply not enough!
So their sqaubbling over their payment was havoc and squalor!
And like the captured goose, they did nothing but hollar.

09: - ストア哲学
ポーチさんという存在はいったい何だったのだろう
ボクは、いくつかの興味深いヒントをリアルワールドで見つけた
それはポーチという名が
ストア哲学を意味することがあるということだ
かの哲学はでキゲンゼン３００年ごろ
古代ギリシャのアテナイでキプロス島出身のゼノンが起こしたと伝えられる
ゼノンがもの思いにふけり人々に語りかけた通路には
虹のように色あでやかな柱が立っていたともいう
"Porch" is a name with many different meanings.
I've heard that it is significant to Stoic Philosophy
which originated sometime in Ancient Greece around 300 BC,
in a town called "Athens". The Stoa Poikile, or
"Painted Porch" was where Zeno, a man born of Cyprus,
told his listeners to indulge in their thoughts.

10: ストア哲学 (cont.)
だが、ゼノンの本は失われ今に伝えられていない
開祖ゼノンだけではない
ストア哲学初期の記録はリアルワールドの「時間」
この専制君主にたえきれず消えていってしまった
リアルワールドの「今」に残っているストア哲学とは
古代ローマ時代の記録から集成されたもので
ゼノンのものとは分かて考える必要があるだろう
わずかに伝わるところでは東洋の思想、哲学に影響を受けていたという
ここに何かヒントがあるかもしれないな

11: - リアルワールドの言葉
なぜ、リアルワールドではあんなの多くの種類の言葉が必要なのだろう？
たとえばリアルワールドの
日本という国は
三つの文字を使い分ける不思議な国だ
まず中国からきた「漢字」があり
そこから「カタカナ」と「ひらがな」が生まれた
そしてその言葉の世界では英語の世界とくらべ
ポーチさんが「あいまい」となってしまう
ふらふらとあいまいでとらえどころがないからこそ
Words in the RW
What need is there for so many words in the Real World?!
One country, for example, Japan, is a mysterious
place where they use THREE different writing systems!
The first, "kanji", originated from China, but they
invented the two others on their own, "Hiragana"
and "Katakana". In that country, Porch's name is written
in a very special way. If the name had to be translated
back into English, however, things can get a little hairy.
Without any guidelines, the number of ways the name COULD
be written are virtually up in the air.

That's what happens to people with strange names.
In Japan, Porch's name is written as as "ポーチ".
In English, that could be translated several ways,
like "porch", "pouch", and "poach".
In Japanese, it is only ever pronounced "POH-chee".
The West ends where the East begins.
Boiling eggs there is a lot trickier.
The Real World is oh-so very strange...

13: - 花と火と
fireworkのことを日本ではかんじで
「花火」と書きHANABIと呼ぶ
「花」=HANAとはflowerのことで
「火」=BIとはHI fireを意味する
文字を逆さまにして「火花」と書けば
それは英語における
spark sparkleの意味になる
花と火をリミックスし生み出したものはとても興味深いものだ
ナップルワールドに関わるすべてにとって……
In Japanese kanji, the word "firework" is
written as 「花火」and pronounced "HA-NA-BI."
花 = HANA, and means "flower".
火 = BI, and means "fire".
If you switch the order, 火花 becomes HIBANA,
which means "spark" or "sparkle" in English.
Things that are creating by remixxing fire and flowers
are of great interest, and can influence all of Napple World.

ポーチさんの春のペタルが現れたとき
ボクは思わず驚きの声をあげそうになった
なぜなら、それは前にボクが出会った"瀕死の妖精"
──彼女にそっくりだったから
ボクは彼女に「朝顔」という名をおくりたかった
その言葉はリアルワールドのとある国で
カゲロウの別名として用いられている
それにしても──
When Porch's Spring Petal appeared,
I unintentionally raised my voice in astonishment.
If you want to know, it was just before I met the "dying fairy".
--Because it was just like her.
I wanted to name her "Morning Glory".
In a certain country in Real World,
it is another name for the damselfly.
At any rate...

16: 瀕死の妖精 (cont.)
今度は…かえ…れ…るとい…いな……
やわら…か…いものぎっ…しり…つめこんだ

ち…いさ…い…けど大き…な……
──あの妖精が残そうとした未完の言葉はいったい何だったのか?
けれど、今のボクにはその意味なら感じることが出来る

それで良いのだろう
すべてのメッセージにはそのはじまりと同じように
終わりが未決のままだという性質があるのだから……
I hope... this time... it's... different...
It'll be... soft... but... tightly... packed in...
Like... that...
It'll...be small...but...big...
What were those words the fairy left behind supposed to mean, I wondered.
But now, I think I am able sense their meaning.
And I feel that it is a good thing.
For all messages, the beginning is the same as the end, because they
both are "still pending".

17: - 消えることの違い
リアルワールドではいろいろなモノが使われ,消えていく
──それに対して
ナップルワールドではいろいろなモノが消えることで,使われる
これは同じようだけど実は、まったく違う
だからボクは感じるんだ
初期ストア哲学の手がかりそのほとんどすべてが消えていった重要性を……
Many things in the Real World are used, and then they fade away.
--Whereas in Napple World, various things fade away and then they are used.
Because in truth, it's very much the same, but also very different,
That is how I make sense of it.
The key to the Stoic Philosophy, back in the early days,
was that almost all of that importance which disappeared was...

18: - パトス
ピエロは自分の名前としてトーマスという名をリミックスしたという
──とすれば、それは
ボクらがピエロに何かを支払いすぎた結果なのかもしれない
Pathos
Pierrot said his name was Thomas when he was remixed.
I assume this is the result of us possibly
paying him too much. (((/ investing too much into him?)))

The Inverted Bridge
It was raining upside-down.
"Oh me! How ghastly!" say the frog as he falls.
The river was flowing upside-down.
"Oh my! How sinister!" laughs the kingfisher.
Should you dare to cross the inverted bridge,
Good heavens, that's it! You're done for!

20: - かさね合わせ
花と夏が同じような意味を持つことがあるように
ポーチさんはボクらの創造神イリュシアと
よく似た名字を持って
ナップルワールドに来たのかもしれない
Overlapping
Just as the flowers and summer possess similar importance,
Porch's last name, Arsia, shares some likenesses with the name
of our creator, Illusia.
Perhaps that is why she has come to Napple World.

21: - Ｌａｄｙ　Ｂｉｒｄ
キミがわが家に来るのならボクを見つめちゃいけません
キミがボクを見たいならボクのとこから帰らなきゃ
そろそろお家が失事ボウボウ!
If you come to my house, you're not supposed to stare at me!
If you want to look me in the eye, then you need to step back outside!!
Before long, my house is going to be wrecked up and down!

22: - 世界の関わり
たぶんリトルマネーはリアルワールドで
穀物の先物取引にでも手を出している（いた？）んだろう
ナップルタウンの住人がいろんな「時」に「映っていた」のも
「たまたま」なんてものじゃないとボクは思う
もっとも「たまたま」と「あらかじめ決まってた」こととの違いなんて
それは「時間」が何かという問いに答えるぐらい
たいへんなコトだよね
Connections between Worlds
Perhaps, back in the Real World, it's possible
Mr. Littlemoney dabbled in trading grain(maybe once?).
In Napple World, a citizen's various "times" are "reflected".
I do not think traits like his are left entirely to "chance",
but are instead "pre-determined".
Answering these questions about time, one way or another,
would be an immense task.

23: - リトルマネーの場合は
トレントがナップルの代わりに爆弾を実らせたのは
リトルマネーが秋の季節に分裂像を結んでいた……
──つまり
「秋verとしていた」ってことを考え合わせればまあ、当然だろう
リトルマネーの財産は一攫千金によって得られたものだろうし
それを春の対極の季節でわざわざ井戸に隠したのもおろかなことだった
いずれにせよ「本当の実り」じゃなかったのさ

「季節」の中でいちばんコワレていたのが「冬」だと思った
入るのにも少してまどったし
なんといってもピエロがいた
何かの死と同時に何かの誕生を

Within the seasons, I think "Winter" was the most broken of all.
When we entered, I felt a little perplexed.
As it turned out, Pierrot was there.
Something dies, and simultaniously, it's as if I fear
something else is born.

「まがいもの」が「まがいもの」と出会って「ほんもの」になる
そんあことがあるのかもしれない
そう、少なくとも
「ほんもの」を映しだす
そんな瞬間への希望をボクらは捨ててはならないのだろう
ナップルワールドに少しでもふれ
関わった者であるならば

30: - 完全と孤独
完全なるイリュシアはなぜ、あえて自分から花を散らしはじめたのか？
それについて神話は,ただ「自らの孤影に気づき」──として語っていない
つまり世界にひとりぼっちの
「さびしさ」に気がついて花を散らしはじめた
これはピエロ流に言いかえれば
完全であるがために自ら不完全になろうとして
ということになるのだろう
だけど、今や,ボクたちはピエロとは別の言い方で神話を語ることが出来る
そう、そんな気がする
Completeness and Isolation
If Illusia became complete, why did she scatter her flowers petals herself?
On top of this, the legend says, still, "She becamse aware of her solitary form". --In other words, she realized she was all alone.
She scattered the flower petals of her "loneliness" to and fro.
If this is Pierrot's manner of speaking, for him to become
"complete", he would naturally become "incomplete", wouldn't he?
However, now, we can tell the myth in a different manner than Pierrot did.
Yes, I have a good feeling about this.

31: - ある空想
リアルワールドとディープドリームの世界
このふたつの世界の間で出来ては消えるナップルワールド
この世界を考えることは
リアルワールドにおいて「時間」を考えることと同じなのかもしれない
リアルワールドにおける哲学というものが
「時間」の謎をとく日がくるのだとしても
それは「哲学」という名によってではない
ナップルワールドにおける「名」のように
新しい名がリミックスされてなされるものだと思う
To Daydream
The Read World and the world of Deep Dream--
the world that connects toe two of them is the
vanishing Napple World.
For Napple World,
the way we ponder about "time", as the Real World
knows it, is very much the same as how people in the
RW view "philosophy".
But if the day should come for us that we solve the
mystery of "time", we would not call it our "philosophy".
Like all "names" in Napple World, I think its new name
would best be made by remixing it.

ナップルタウンから「時」が失われていくその最後においても
まだ中央広場で「オレンジタイム」が残っていたのは
それがナップルタウンに一番つながりの深い「時」だったせいだろう
Orange-colored Time
The last of "time" is going to be lost from Napple Town.
Still, in the town square, "Orange Time" may still remain.
Actually, it should, it's the dense "time" that best ties itself into Napple Town.

What is this light that freezes time still,
but the summer's light, forever in your eyes?

34: - Ｍｉｔｔｅｎｓ
ポーチさんは自分の手ぶくろを見つけ
ナップルパィから大事なものをてにいれた
まさしくそれは彼女にとって
"turn over a new leaf"
Porch found her long-lost mittens
and earned her precious Napple Pie.
With nary a doubt, Porch will soon
be the one to turn over a new leaf.

Even though there's a ton of it, it has no use,
but the more there is of it, the more useful it is.

36: - Ｔｈｅ　ｕｎｉｖｅｒｓｅ（１）
宇宙のことを漢字では
「宇宙」と、書く
「宇」は空間
「宙」は時間を意味する
各字を形作っているシンボルの組み合わせがもともと持っていた意味は
「宇」が建物の屋根と骨組み
「宙」が建物をおおうもの
──で、あったらし
The Japanese word for "universe" is written
as 宇宙. 宇 is "space" and 宙 is "time".
Individually, those two kanji have their own meanings:
宇 signified "the roof and framework of a building".
宙 meaning "air" is that which covers said building.
--But, alas...

外側のカラだけ残って中がカラッポになり
水などの「入れもの」として使うことが出来る

ボクがここで言いたいのはなぞなぞの答え
カラッポだからこそ何かを入れることが出来る「入れもの」の意味
アイスをのせたコーンの中も
アイスが,ちょうどよくとけるまでは「カラッポ」
そう、それはとってもナップルじゃないか！
The radical in 宙, the part that looks like 由, means "reason".
Like a squash with its innards that ripen over time,
once those innards are taken out, all that remains is the hallow shell.
It can be used as a "container" to hold things like water and such.
That squash eventually becomes a husk.
Now, to get to my answer to that riddle...
We put things inside of empty containers BECAUSE it has "empty space".
Inside a cone, you put a scoop of ice cream, but until that scoop
melts down into the cone, the cone itself is still hallow.
That's a whole lot like Napple World itself, am I right?!


38: - Ｔｈｅ　ｕｎｉｖｅｒｓｅ（２）
リアルワールドの日本という国では
「宙」「空」「虚」
上の漢字,その、それもが｛SORA｝という音
言葉として同じ発音をもっているけど
同じ発音をするからまったく同じ意味だというわけじゃあない
ただ共通するイメージはもっている
文章におきかえるのはムズカシイのだけれど
あえて言葉にしてみれば
純粋に「ない」のではなく「中身がない」のイメージだ
In the RW, the country of Japan, there are 3 kanji
that all can be read as "SORA" and all can be used
to talk about the sky, : 宙, 空, and 虚.
The can all also be pronounced differently and at times do
not mean the same things at all.
Still, they all share a common idea, and while it would
be difficult for one to interchange them in a sentence,
they all are used to describe the "empty space" in the sky.

ただ単純に「ない」という意味である
「無」という漢字があり発音は｛MU｝という
でも、これは絶対的に「ない」
ということであって
「ない」の種類が違う
この区別がつかなかったピエロにとって
ナップルワールドはただむなしい世界としか占えなかっただろう
But there is a specific word in Japanese for "empty space".
The kanji for it is: 無, which is read as "MU",
but it is used to refer to absolute "nothingness",
in the whole scheme of things, there are even different
kinds of "nothingness".
In Pierrot's case, if those were concepts he couldn't distinguish,
perhaps he just wasn't able to tell Napple World apart from a world that really was void and lifeless?

なにもないからなにかある

I ate a hollowed donut,
the filling was very sweet.
The fairies that will live someday
have nothing, they have something.
Because there is something, there is nothing too.
The ring donut goes 'round and 'round.
The dance goes on and on.

Onward "Time" is like running.
Wandering through the darkness of the deep night,
searching for the scent of morning. You, now,
are running in spirals around the seasons.
Reverse "Time" is also like running.
From the hustle and bustle under the night moon,
back to that carefree afternoon. You, now,
are going back in spirals around the seasons.

A shabby waterwheel, spinning round n' round,
scattering water here and there on a hot, hot summer's day.
Memories, stars in the freezing night sky, reflecting in its splashes.

ナップルワールドは万華鏡のような世界だ
カタチは決まっていても（むろん6角形！）
あらゆるもののカケラが入れ替わり、立ちかわり
無限の模様を描いていく
「いのち」そのものの軌跡
瞬間と永遠のスクランブル変差点
あるいはシチューのような
Kaleidoscope
Napple World is a land much like a kaleidoscope.
Even its shape is similar. (Like a hexagon!)
While all of its parts sift around, instead of being buried,
those parts draw up an infinite number of patterns.
The traces of "life" itself, all in a strange
hodgepodge of both eternity and small instants.
Alternatively, it's quite like a stew.
